Low Carbers & Friends - July 2011

Hope everyone had a great fourth! It is finally hot here. Am loving my new digs, don't want to leave to even go to work. As soon as the scaffolding comes down, I'll take picture of the outside. Talk at cha later.

Rhea - So glad you're in your new digs :D :D :D! Think you'll be all settled in by the end of summer ;)?

Hi babes! Thank you for starting the July thread Lita, despite your @#&(! internet issues at home!! What's up with that?!?

I was thinking that I would have many posts to catch up with here but I was surprised that it has been quiet! I think like you Rhea, summer has kicked in everywhere! I am thrilled that you love your home and don't want to leave it!! After all of your hard work, I say you need a stay-cation my friend!

Things have been too busy I think! But that's good for me right now. :) I helped my sister move on the 25th and from then until this past weekend, it's all a blur. :p Well, except for getting a few workouts in. Sat. I had fun in Portland. Sunday I cleaned the house I live in. Monday we cleaned and did yardwork at our house near Portland and I was thrilled that BB didn't freak out at the fireworks. Today I took another day off and went to the beach. BB dragged me after every bird, the ocean waves and anything the wind blew. I got quite the workout!

No particular plans for the week for workouts, what all do you have planned?

Hope you have an awesome week babes!

Tracy - I guess a power surge fried my internet card . Hopefully it will now be functioning - but my guru says I may need a new modem box.... Ah the joys of modern technology, huh :p? Anyway - that darlin' BB is bound and determined for you to get those workouts in, isn't he ;)? But he might be on to something - I am finding that just walking/biking every day (and not for marathon sessions, either) along w/ just 3 short weight workouts each week is doing good for me. I can always shut myself up indoors come winter.... I think we have forgotten there are advantages to all seasons and the variety they give us :).

Yep, I do need a stay cation, but even those don't work very well for me. Those darn projects get in the way.

I sure haven't been on the workout route very well, darn stomach kept acting up. Happened to go to the GI doc last week; he had me taking the purple pill twice a day and to report on Tues if it was better. Well, it was and then it attacked me again Tues! So now I have to do another upper GI tomorrow. I think I will probably have to get rid of all the wine, caffeine etc in my diet. oh well. at least it is good for the BFFM contest and I have not been good about the wine. Probably because I know that I'm going to have to stop drinking it, so I've been indulging every night (haven't been told by doc yet....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it right now lol)

Doc asked if I had had any stress in my life......hahahahahahaha.....he laughed when I told him and sarcastically stated, oh no, no stress in your life.

Okay, back to pretending to work, I do have another trial next week. BTW, last trial, hung the jury!! Whoo hooo, that is considered a win in the defense world,.

Rhea - I think you definitely have a good excuse to imbibe a bit now just in case :D. CONGRATS on your last win !

Well, no bad fatty, acidy food for me for a while! Doc said I had a very "angry stomach". Oh, along with all the red angry part, a nice big ulcer. My DH was there and told me I should geta note from him to be off of work for a month. Doc actually looked at me like he would have done it! Oh that would have gone over well wit the boss He took a biopsy, so I have to go back Aug 9 and if I haven't had good improvement by then I'll have him witenagemot me off for some long period of time. I only have 900 and something hours of sick leave. Oh the joys of aging!!

(((Rhea!!!))) No wonder you're suffering :(!!!! I hope the biopsy results are good ones - keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! I think you could afford to take a bit of time off, silly girl ;). One can only hope (yes, I believe in miracles :p ) that if you did that, bossie might come to appreciate you like he should - or at least a little bit !

OMG!! How's this for a miracle....bossy is "retiring" as of Aug 19th!!!!! (well, technically 9/6, but he will be gone as of the 19th. I can feel my tummy healing as we speak.....lol I'm doing cartwheels........whoo hoooo!

BTW, i just saw the typo in the other message. Where the heck did witagmeote or whatever come from? LOL Glad you could understand it!

Rhea - YAHOO   !!!!!!! I'll bet that old tummy just LOVED the news :D!!!!! I am so happy for you. I know it hasn't been a joy ride there :(! As for the typo - I will admit I got a kick out of it :p! I thought maybe it was a brain teaser for the day ;)!

Would you believe that I actually burst into tears when I was driving to my old house? I guess stress release at the news. I warned my front office staff that while she was driving home, she just may "release". She said she wouldn't be surprised if she did. We have all been under such a cloud for the past five years. I asked her if ther were any days off that she wanted to try and take this summer (our other person is on leave because of her mom). And she said that she wrote it off because she didn't want to ask for a day off at the end of Aug. I reminded her that as second in command, after the 19th of Aug, I will be in charge. She laughed , clapped her hands and said that she forgot and didn't really realize that! Too funny.

Hi babes! Rhea, BIG, big (((HUGS))) to you for living through these past 5 years of hell with that ^%$#*& boss of yours!!! I am THRILLED for you regarding the upcoming retirement!!!!!!!!!!! I don't blame you a bit for the tears, I'd do it too. And as for your ulcer and angry stomach, you just may be able to enjoy the wine, acid and fatty foods come August 20th!! In fact, I've been indulging too much lately and will have a celebratory drink for you now! :D

Lita--I am with you on the short workouts since that's what I've been doing this summer too. And I do love getting outdoors. The meetup groups are continuing outdoors but I haven't been able to join them 'cause I doubt they'd let BB participate and he needs his exercise too. :p

Did LIC today indoors--it rained today! Grrr.

Melinda? Reece? You 2 OK?

Have a great week babes!

Hi everyone,

I took last week off from work. We went to an amusement park wth our boys and on another day went for a 26.6 mile bike ride on the "Rails to Trails" system. That little bike trip lead to me getting a new bike and I LOVE it. It's a comfort bike for women to use on trails, not mountain biking. It is sized to my height, so I can stretch out my legs and fly!

Rhea, that is such good news! ENJOY IT! Can you take some vacation time to shorten the exposure even more? ;)

Lita, as I've written, I'm biking a lot more now. I'm trying to get in the STS for the upper body weight part and then I'll do 12 pikes on the stability ball for core. I'm trying not to feel guilty, but I do love it and hey, we have to enjoy our exercise, right?

Tracy, sounds like you're having lots of fun with BB. They do say that having a dog helps to increase your activity. Sounds fun taking him to the beach!

Reece, I hope you are finally feeling better.

Rhea - I don't blame you for releasing!!! I think it's 5 years over-do ;)! Just glad you could cry and drive at the same time :D! I'll bet that woman is doing a happy dance and just counting down the days until you take charge !

Tracy - Poor BB - I think everyone should want to include him! I'm sure you're keeping more than active enough with BB and everything else you have going on :)!

Melinda - That bike sounds awesome  - I am so happy you are enjoying it so much! Yes, the guilty part is the hard part . But thankfully, the older I get, the more I realize that enjoyment is a biggie in life. I'm pretty tired of always doing what I feel I "should" do. I think that's why I used to overtrain for years and now have joints that don't let me forget it.....

Lita, I hear you! Fortunately, I don't have injuries, but that compulsive monster looms over my head about what I "should" do as well. As I get older, I just can't carry him on my back like I used to, which is actually a freeing experience. I know I need to keep my muscles strong, so the weight work is important, but when I was doing STS I decided to not go super heavy because, really, what is the point? I do not even desire to pick up anything that is 50# in life, so why worry about it on there. I use challenging weights to keep myself in shape, but that's it. I know I also need to stretch to prevent myself from feeling like I got hit by a truck. The biking is a huge stress reliever, which is what I really need.

Nice cool weather here, just around 80 degrees with lower humidity.

You have the best way of summing things up, Melinda :D !!!!!
...which is actually a freeing experience.
I hope it's soon freeing for me too - instead of yet one more thing to feel guilty about :p!

Again, how well said!!! I keep trying to tell myself that it's stupid to lift so heavy I exacerbate things - and at least THAT I'm finally catching on to ;)!
I use challenging weights to keep myself in shape, but that's it.
That's what I'm trying to do, too!
I know I also need to stretch to prevent myself from feeling like I got hit by a truck.
That's the one thing I shirk on but the thing I need most . I really need to do more but somehow it's hard to do it on days I don't exercise :confused. Even though I know when I don't, I'll have back spasms and hip pain in the night.... what an idiot I can be!

The biking is a huge stress reliever, which is what I really need.
That's how I feel about walking/biking every day, too. Otherwise, I'd probably have killed some agents in this office by now :p!

Nice cool weather here, just around 80 degrees with lower humidity.
That sounds awesome :D!

Just so you know - it's easier for me to transition to this "kinder, gentler" focus on fitness knowing it's not just me, but that you're seeing it the same way, too :)!

Rhea - Are you still out there happy dancing ;)?

Reese - I hope you're doing okay and not ill again!!! Worrying about you, girl!

Tracy - Hope you're hanging in there and having a good week :)!

Yeah. Lol. You should see the grand jury report!!!!! What a week. I'll report later when I can stop giggling.
