Low Carbers & Friends - August 2011

That was weird...I clicked on the "here" for the August thread, got to the thread, but since it was on my ipad, it did not go to the internet. So I couldn't post from there. Pfft.

I was only going to say that nothing spectacular has happened yet today. Not that I am expecting anything, but it is a Monday in a public defender's office, so you never know. lol

I'm thankful every day nothing spectacular happens, Rhea ;) :p. Spectacular and good are always the same, for sure! I learned today that the office nemesis is coming back to work here.... sigh.... Oh well - there's always got to be one in the group, huh :confused:????

Lita, there's always a nemesis where ever you go, I have finally come to that conclusion. I used to think that it was possible to go somewhere where there wasn't one, but sadly, I have yet to find that place.

So, I have been pulling out some of the older workouts and I'm enjoying it. They are much easier now than before, thanks to STS. I have done PUB and Muscle Max so far. Think I'll run through all these for awhile. On top of that we biked 148 miles in July, in the heat no less. DH has lost 6 pounds since the beginning of June, we think from the biking and we are upping our fruits and veggies quite a bit and cutting down on junk food.

I agree, Melinda :rolleyes:. I guess the bright side is that once she left, others began to irritate me in her place. So now hopefully the others won't be so bad since she'll be back to make them look better ;). (Not sure that made sense - but hopefully you know what I mean.)

It is nice to do the oldies now and again :). Especially if they seem easier now :p! Wow - 148 miles :eek:???? You go, girl :D! Congrats to the hubby, too :cool:!

Rhea, I hope your co-worker returns soon so you don't have to be alone with bossy! I was thrilled to learn that he was thrown under the bus....

Good going on the workouts there--wow! I don't have P90X but have done snippets of it. It's a challenge for sure!

Melinda, you and hubby are definitely rocking those bike rides, that's awesome! I hope it cools down for you soon too! I'm not a fan of the heat either--and neither is my pooch!

Lita, I say if you think about that nemesis returning during your workouts and you'll get alot out of them! What workouts are you doing this week?

I'm getting workouts in, but not the ones at home that I love. Been getting in ab work and/or weight work in at work with dumbbells, then taking BB for runs after work. And I only got a couple of them in last week 'cause things were too busy. So yesterday, I did the conditioning drills from LBB and my quads are screaming today, go figure! :p At least I'm getting exercise and that's good.

Oh ladies, just 'cause you all know I enhanced my rack almost 7 years ago--yes, we've known each other for awhile!!--I managed to break one of them recently! I dunno how, but I have to get it fixed. :rolleyes: I certainly hope it doesn't stop my workouts for too long (I can't remember my recovery time from before) but I don't even know when it's going to get fixed. I see the doctor next week. Of all the blasted things to happen huh?!? :eek: Good grief. ;) At least it should be under warranty (yes, boobs can be under warranty!) so I should get a few bucks towards fixing it. I just have to bring my boobie bar codes with me to the appt. :p The whole thing is so ridiculous that it just makes me laugh!!

Tracy - Well, at least it's a story most people can't top and try to one-best ya on :p ;)! Gosh - hope the other one doesn't break at some point too :eek: - or if it does, I hope it's while it's still under warranty!

This week my weight work is GS using mix/match to do the exercises in reverse order for a change (other than the push ups - I have to get them out of the way first or they won't get done :p ). I haven't done my beloved S&H - things are just too crunched while RM is in the rehab unit.... So it's been mostly GS since that's the only other strength series. Occasionally I'll pull out on of the endurance workouts (PS or MIS, etc) but they just don't appeal to me very often at all since I never feel like I've gotten anything accomplished with them.
 
Oh my Tracy, LOL!! I have been giggling with your post. Didn't know that they could break or that there would be a boobie bar code! Of course the visual of one side being deflated comes to mind too!
 
Tracy, I have to ask... How did you break your boob? I wonder if you can just get 2 new ones while you're going in, what if the other one would break, too. I had forgotten you had that done, I can't believe it's been 7 yrs.

Went to Indianapolis, just got back yesterday. I get so tired when I travel, i don't sleep well. Oh, boy.

Maybe do a bike ride tonight. DS gets back from band camp in a couple hours. school will be starting in 2 1/2 weeks for him. Time is flying, but I do want some cooler temps.
 
Rhea, are you all going to have a party on the 8th day?!

It's been so nice here, cooled down to 80 degrees, feels like fall. We've been biking and walking and I'm doing S&H this week for strength.

Nothing else exciting going on.

Melinda - I'm so glad you've cooled down some :cool:! I heard last night there were more deaths in Maryland from the heat :(...

Tracy - What's the news on the boob ;)????
 
Only one day to go and I did not go to work today. Hehe. Not feeling too well. Lol tomorrow I'll be at a seminar for half the day with busy getting ready for Thurs court. He has totally been avoiding any contact with me. Awesome, I love not having to talk to him. As my girlfriend told me yesterday, don't let the door hit you in the split that god made.

I think I've been over doing the workouts. I pulled out Intensity yesterday, but quit after seven minutes. Just couldn't get into it. Did not want to work out. Haven't worked out since sat. I guess the double days caught ip with me. Not sure I'll even workout today. Naps sound better ooh then a massage this afternoon. See ya!
 
Rhea, it's almost over!!! I didn't know you had the Insanity series. And you also have P90X? I do think rest is in order. I think I'm biking too much. My quads have been cramping, need to stretch more too. Something is going on, I get little aches around my knees. I'm just backing off a bit.

Lita, the weather here is super! I am sleeping so much better, nice and cool. If it could be like this all year long I wouldn't complain!

Still doing S&H. I think I need to work on my hamstrings, I think they need to get balanced out, possibly the biking is strengthing the quads and putting my legs out of balance. (I learned that in school ;) So I'm starting to do some stability ball rolls with my legs, that really works the hamstrings good.

Reece, I see that you are getting ready for school. I put in my application today for nursing school. i think I will find out if I get accepted in November. If I get accepted, then I'll be put in the spring or fall class of 2012. This is a waiting game, but at this point I don't care. If I get it, I'll work hard, if I don't then I'm not going to cry over it. Whatever will be will be.

Tracy, please let us know how you're doing.
 
Gosh, Rhea, YOU, overdo it :rolleyes: :p? I am darned sure a rest is in order :). So sorry you're not feeling up to work today ;) and hope you feel better REAL soon :p!

Melinda - I am the opposite. When I was in PT, I was told part of the issues with my legs were caused by being too strong in my hams and too weak in my quads. My PT suggested the bike contributed to that, saying that without pedal straps, you mostly work hams and very little quad. She suggested getting pedal straps to even the load but I can't find them. Glad your weather has improved :cool:!
