Low Carbers & Friends - April

Hi Everyone,

Well, Rhea, I did pop some food in my mouth before I began that workout which I know is a no no. It seems the best time for me to work out is in the late afternoon or evening where I've had several hours of not eating, almost of the verge of wanting to eat again. then I know my stomach is empty but I'm not starved. Don't have as good of energy in the a.m. and don't exercise early any more.

We cut down our wheeping willow tree this weekend. It had died late last summer. I worked 5 hours hauling the wood to our burn pit. We burned it because some bug got to it and we didn't want it to spread. The other tree has it, but we are hoping it doesn't die. I did not get tired or have any aches, so STS must be working. DH and I were tired the next day, but not beat up, if that makes sense.

Today I did the timesaver of GS legs. I really like the floor work with the ball and band. Those hamstring rolls on the ball are excellent for my legs. I could barely do them when I first got the workout. They caused me great pain. I need to focus on the hamstrings a bit more, I didn't feel as strong as I once was.

I'm repeating week 4 of meso 2, just wanted to get a different leg workout.

Lita, anything we do that is different can cause DOMS. We just can't be trained for all situations all the time. I am still thinking strength is the way to go, even if you get DOMS from endurance. I would still focus on strength. That's just my feelings on it.

Tracy, have you ever tried the longer premixes of just the weight work on 4DS. I have not. Maybe I should go to that series for a bit of something different. I know I do like it a lot.

Reece, glad you are liking the STS cardio. Did you see we can get free downloads of those workouts this Friday?
 
Wow, Melinda, that was a lot of work you did on that tree :eek:! How awesome you didn't get overly sore :D!!! As for your wise comments on endurance and strength, thank you so much!!!! That's how I feel but it's nice to know it's not just me :cool:!

Rhea - I can guarantee I'd be a level one on that mermaid, too :eek:! So glad you could finally pop in and visit :)!

Reece - Nothing like a relationship to get us into a funk :rolleyes:! I'm glad the drama is a thing of the past, though :).
 
Hi Girls,

Last night was Hard Core Extreme wo #2. Wow! So I felt like I needed to burn some extra calories because bf and I had alfredo pasta and ice cream the night before. This workout kicks butt. I think my cardio endurance is back with a vengence. I didn't miss a beat. It was a nice suprise when interval 10 finished and you think your going into the stretch but NO you do the drills from KickMax. I was in a "bring it on Cathe" kind of mood.


Lita- I've had so many guy issues over the years, I'm amazed that I have anything to do with them! So far this thing with the bf is fun and peaceful. Sure there are a few issues but nothing devastating. I'm healthier now and can handle things a lot better.

Reece - After almost 50 years, I still haven't perfected my search for Mr Right ;) :p. Hopefully you'll figure it out a lot sooner than that :D. Dinner tonight sounds like a wonderful deal :cool:!

Reece, I'm glad you liked Kickbox Surge the second time 'cause I love that one and I don't let anyone see me do the moves! Glad things are peaceful with BF, I've never liked drama, even when I was in high school. :cool:

Melinda, that's awesome you weren't sore after all that work you did with your tree! I was really sore after disc 40 of STS so that blew my theory out of the water about not being too sore after strength workouts! But I agree with you that any change can bring on DOMS. Thanks! I too agree that we get the most from strength work but I know I need to change things up to keep me motivated.

I have not tried the longer weight workouts on 4DS, I looked at them but realized I really like the whole series as it is and want to do it all as a set.

I have not downloaded the STS cardio series yet, have any of you?

Rhea, that mermaid move sounds incredible! Cathe does a crocodile move in her STS Yoga abs and that thing almost does me in! And my feet are on the floor the whole time! :eek: Let me know if you get to level 2!

So after I did STS Disc 40, my legs were killing me and I went to my meetup group on Tuesday where the focus was on--you guessed it--legs! :mad::eek: I hurt for the rest of the week after that!

Lita, I looked at PS for an upper body premix and didn't see one on there. So, I skipped PS this week too and did a timesaver upper body strength workout with Amy Bento that did the trick. My legs still hurt on Friday but my arms just felt worked. I'm thinking there's just no rhyme or reason to DOMS. :p

I'm heading out or town for a few days babes but will check back in as soon as I can upon my return! Have a great weekend!

Tracy, I did that GS legs timesaver, then sat on the stationary bike and pedaled for 20 min, not even hard. Well, talk about DOMS. so the 2 leg things back to back was not a good idea!

Reece, I have come to the point that I just learned that life is a whole learning process and I don't believe we ever perfect anything, just slowly figure things out bit by bit over the years. some day the past experiences will help you in future relationships if you keep your eyes open to what is before you. Hmm, that sounds deep!

My first year of marriage was one of the hardest. Then the past couple years when my oldest son was having real personal issues, that put a huge strain on our marriage. I'm sure more trying times will come in my life, but for the moment, in spite of DH still being unemployed, things are pretty good.
 
Tracy - No, I always think there should be premixes too, but ... guess we're spoiled, huh :p? I just make my own - after all, it seems none of the premixes ever suit me :eek:. And yes, I throw in the old endurance/circuit workouts now and again just to make my body really appreciate the strength workouts :D. As for Mr Right - I know you love your G-man :D. For me, I figure Mr Right will come along when I'm older - I still have a lot of time yet ;).

Melinda - I think it's a great sign that things are still good even during the unemployment stage :cool:! Hopefully this means that things with the eldest DS have gotten better :)?

Wow, were we buried in the posts.

I've been occupying myself with the yard and the house and the job and the workouts. How 'bout you guys? We actually had wonderfully weather this weekend, but you wouldn't know it for the storm that is out there right now.

Been cranking along with the BBL workouts. Saturday and Yesterday were the Sculpt days. Today I think is supposed to be Cardio Axe and High and Tight. I can at least now make it through High and Tight, but still too chicken to add the ankle weights at the end. I can cramp up well enough without them. Remember the leg work at the end of the Firm #1 tape? High and Tight is a bit like that.

Oh yes - I still remember the torture quite well :eek:!!! We had lovely weather this past weekend, too, but until the next one gets here, it's not to be as nice. But that's okay - I'm not ready to jump into summer just yet ;).
 
Hi babes! Melinda, I was joking about DH, I do love the guy to death even though he can drive me crazy at times! :D I'm glad things are going really well for you and DH now! And what is DS doing now?

We had one beautiful day at the coast this past weekend so we probably had the same weather as you Rhea! Boy, you are hitting the workouts hard there girl! I'm going to get just 2 workouts in this week and I am not going to worry about getting more in. :)

Lita, I agree that the premixes are never QUITE right, but they're better than I could do on my own! And I know you'll find the right guy that is worthy of you in due time! :D

I did a circuit workout today--High Step Challenge--and my cardio endurance was awful! :mad: Had to pause it alot. My story? I'm exhausted from my fun weekend! :p
 
Tracy - They are great options, for sure, especially when I'm not in anal drive like I've been lately :p. I like your excuse! My endurance is down too but I'm blaming it on the season change ;). The way it fluctuates around here, that excuse will last a good month or more :D!
 
Good afternoon! I'm playing hookie (with paid vacation that is) from work until the end of the week, so I'll try and come play. But you know me.....lists, projects, etc. And sometimes they aren't even my projects, darn it.

So yesterday was what I thought. I even made it through High and Tight with minimal cramping in bum bum at the end. So I might have to add the eeek, ankle weights next time, ooh, which is tomorrow. Today was sculpt and a massage. Now I;m going to tackle getting this computer room straightened up and a new fax/printer installed. (thanks to DH's second job and I have no idea where it is going to go....err.)

Okay, to work.
 
Hi Ladies,

Last night I did MMA: Kickbox. I needed to get some aggression out so I chose kickbox. Night before I did BM2 Timesaver premix. I love that premix. Its the bonus combo 2x then the power curcuit blasts.

Melinda- I think I am learning. sometimes I'm too forgiving. I wish I wasn't because it ends up bringing so much drama into my life. This week has been a roller coaster and I just can't handle all the petty high school crap. i got really scared because the girl that EX cheated on me with sent me nasty messages on Facebook. I told her my side and asked her and her friends to leave me alone. Her next message was that she knew my boss. Then I go to drive home and my break fluid had been drained out. She told EX that I've been harrassing her and that she has a restraining order on me when I've never done anything. My new bf doesn't understand why I let it upset me. its kind of hard not to get upset. I'm trying to move on but its on my mind so much that I can't sleep. I have a really hard time understanding people. EX had a long talk with me and was totally trying to get back on my good side and being super sweet and wanting to get back with me. I don't even want to give him the time of day.
Sorry for the vent session. I feel better. Won't happen again.

Reece, please don't ever apologize for venting, we're not just here to swap exercise stories, we're a support system too! I have to admit that I still don't understand people and probably never will. I've never understood why people can be mean to me when I've done nothing wrong to them. I have to chalk it up to the fact that maybe they're pretty unhappy people and don't know how to deal with it in a healthy way. I understand you getting upset, it would me too! My only advice at this point is to ignore anymore messages from EX and that girl and try not to react or respond to anything they say. Your silence will give them nothing to work with or use to hurt you again. The delete button is one of my best friends! :D (And I have disconnected and hidden "friends" on Facebook that really aren't my friends at all.)

I agree with Lita, you ARE the queen of to do lists Rhea! Hope you are getting some relaxation in with your time off! What is DH's second job?

I did get a second workout in this week but it was delayed until tonight. I got the stupid stomach flu that's going around here and got 2 days off I hadn't planned for! :p Tonight was Travel Fit. I really like that one and doesn't make me drag a bunch of equipment around. And it burned too! Call me crazy but band work is a favorite of mine. :cool:

I managed to not workout on my vacation time! Too much to do around here....lots of housework, Trip to Reno. Well, I guess you can consider unloading about 65 boxes of flooring (most of them about 100lbs, DH and I had to double team it) a workout. Also the shoveling of a yard of sand today out of the truck...oh I did walk this morning. We've decided to walk for a while instead of running.

Reece - Tracy is so right, no need to apologize for venting here. That's what we're here for! So vent away. BTW, tell EX to reign his little booty call in and next time something happens to your car you will call the police and report it (along with the nasty notes from Facebook which would show harassment on her side, not yours) Sorry, the attorney in me came out....:)

Okay, time to see if I forgot to pay any bills (this month has gone so fast!!)

If I am, Rhea, it's only because I'm more scatterbrained :p. It's certainly not because I do as much as you :eek:! I am a total slug compared to you and all the projects you take on :eek:.

Reece - I agree w/ Tracy and Rhea - and think you'd be wise to follow Rhea's advice should anything else happen :).
 
Okay, I've decided to take a longer break from working out......nice and rainy here, not conducive for working out, but sewing, drinking warm drinks, reading......So a week's complete rest for me and then I'll be back at it!!

(how's that for an excuse?) lol
 
Hi babes! Rhea, I'm so pleased you are taking a full week off from working out and taking advantage of relaxing, good for you!!! Your current activities sound wonderful! I'm jealous.... :D

Lita, what workouts are you doing this week?

Reece, how are you doing? I'm glad Rhea's attorney came out. :)

Did an Amy Bento workout yesterday and got my hair done today. Birthday party tomorrow then will try to squeeze some workouts in after that! (But not tomorrow.) :D
