Low Carbers & Friends - 2nd Qtr - 2014

So how did the interview go Melinda? Hope you got the job, even if it is only part-time.

Being going strong on the P90X3 90 day rotation. I really like this workout series. My shoulder is even getting better. After doing some reading on the Cheat System diet, which suggested doing a bunch of Peter Escogue exercises to re-align the body, I realized that half the warm up from the series is the re-alignment exercises! No wonder my shoulder is doing better. I actually can do big girl push-ups with very little irritation in the shoulder. Next, big girl tricep push-ups!

All right, where the heck is everyone?

Lita - everything all right in your neck of the woods? Havent "seen" you for a while.

Traci - I still want to go with you! October just not good with Mexico trip in November. I need to win the lottery first.

Melinda - what rotation are you doing now? You might have said, but I quickly forget when the reply page comes up....wish I could see the other posts when I reply.....would help this memory.

Rhea - I still lurk now and again ;). Had "new" happen which is not a good thing so life is crazy these days. Home health dropped the lady I care for and she is in the nursing home trying to heal 2 broken legs (both femurs). Between home, work, running down there to see her several times a day and appts with lawyers/medical personnel, etc and my own personal appts, life is bit hectic . But I'm still here in spirit even if not in person :).

Melinda - Hope that interview went well!

Tracy - The RT would never be possible in my normal schedule, let alone my "new" schedule :). But hope you have fun!

OH LIta, sorry to hear about your roomie. Hope she heals fast and can come home. (((HUGS))))

Lita, OMG, both femurs are broken. WOW! How long do they expect it to take for her to recover?

Rhea, I'm doing meso 2 and just throwing in different cardio/yoga stuff in between. I don't think I can do the 90 day thing with STS any more, this works better to just pick a mesocycle and do it for a month.

So, I got the job as a wound nurse. I start next Thursday. It is 2 days/week but I can pick up more if I want, just not doing the wound nursing, it would be floor nursing. So I will learn this job first before I tackle anything else. I'm also in the thick of things with school. I have a research writing class, so have to look up sources, etc. Takes a lot of time.

Tracy, hope all is well with you?

Everyone, enjoy your weekend.

Melinda - Congratulations :D :D :D!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a great place to start, especially with the option to add on more hours and then be able to get different experience when you want ! Since my RM is forever getting sores from her various conditions, wound care nurses are quite frequent visitors in our world. As for recovery... She and I are hoping 6 - 8 weeks but none of the doctors have actually indicated any time period.

Rhea - Thanks :).

Hey did you see? Cathe has a new series coming out. Pre-sales start June 1. Of course, I will be like Ms. Traci and order! LOL

Hi fit babes!!

CONGRATULATIONS MELINDA!!! Sounds like the perfect job for you right now! What kind of facility will you be working in? Are we going to see even less of you now? :( I hope not!

Lita, I am so, so sorry about your RM!! That poor girl!! And when something occurs with her, it of course affects you too!! Big healing HUGS are being sent your way!!

Rhea, I'm not going to the RT without trying to save a little $! :D I plan to use air miles to travel and will get a roommate to share hotel expenses. So it's not impossible to go even with your trip to Mexico in Nov. (Aren't I terrible?!?)

And yes of course Rhea, I will be pre-ordering Cathe's new series right along with you! :D

Winging it on the workouts lately--work keeps getting in the way and I very rarely work out at home except to take BB for a walk/run. Other than that, DH and I have been working on our old house, getting it ready to sell and doing that doesn't leave me much free time at the moment. Hope we're all done with that in a couple of weeks. Then I'll get some more time to come up with excuses not to workout at home, hee hee! I've gotten so used to working out at noon at my place of work that I really love doing it then.

Take care sweet babes!

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to . Besides, I think I have to keep working 'cause otherwise I'd just stop and forget to go again ;).

Hi babes! I had a great birthday, thank you!! Beautiful weather too, which we don't normally get on the weekends in the spring, only during the week!

How are the workouts going for everyone? Are you still liking 4 Day Split Lita? I figured out how to do the weight work of it without the step at work for this week. I'm doing short stints of hard cardio first, then the weight work. I really like it for a change of pace. How is your RM doing?

Saw a friend of mine this evening who asked me to do an outdoor stair climb with her at the beginning of August. I'm excited to do it! It will take place at a stadium. But it means I have to start practicing that again too! Rather than going to our local hospital like we do in the winter though, I can go to an outdoor staircase that has 92 steps (I think). And torment myself over many flights. But the nice thing is, it's in the shade always! And it's done in 20 minutes. That's not to say there won't be a lotta whining on my part during those 20 minutes!

Let me know what you're up to fit babes, and here's to wonderful weather for everyone!!

Hi everyone!

Tracy, I don't blame you for keeping the workouts at noon, that way you come home and can do other things. Also, happy belated birthday. We had awesome weather on the weekend, too. We've actually had a nice spring. The stair challenge sounds fun and exhausting, but you can do it!

Lita, your RM should be in the middle of recovery at this point. I hope she's not in too much pain. Thanks for saying something about the new Cathe workouts, I rely on you all to let me know when something new is coming out. I did see on FB that she had a 20 min skype interview. I am going to try to watch that today.

Rhea, I still have not gotten the P90x3. How is that going? Are you still glad you purchased it?

I just finished up meso 2. We've also been biking again. I was doing more tabata and HIIT this winter and notice more endurance on the biking, that's the only thing different I did, so that must be it.

New job is going ok. I beat myself up, though. It is so hard being the newbie. I've only worked 7 days, and I know it takes time to learn things, but I want to know it now! So on top of this job, I got called to see if I'd be interested in an occupational health nurse position. I talked with the company and I am going to do PRN (fill in) work for them. So I will help out if someone is sick or on vacation. I can work it around the other job. I want to do this to see if it is the track I'd like to go on. If not, then I'm not out any big commitment. If I do like it, they have a FT position opening and more coming, so all I'd need to do is say the word. I have spoken with this hiring manager several times since Dec and I know she wants me to work for them, it's just not been good hours or other reasons why I have not taken a position with them, but this is something different. The health screening business is declining. I will be lucky if I earn 1/2 of what I made last year, so now is the time to make a move in a new direction. I just wish I was in my 20s as far as my ability to adapt, I just get so stressed out doing all these new things. I used to not be like this, I think it's my age.

Melinda - good luck with the new changes. I think as we "age" we also get frustrated with not knowing it all at once, cause we should, right? I love P90X3, love the time, love most of the workouts and the ones I don't love is probably because they are tough and Im just not coordinated enough!

Melinda - It just takes time :). I'm with you, though, I don't like change or not knowing or anything else that takes me out of my comfort zone. But I know in time you'll have it all figured out - whichever direction you take. I think it's awesome you get to try two different jobs - even if the stress of learning them is not easy ;). Sounds like all this is coming at a perfect time . And thanks for thinking of RM. Pain-wise I think she's okay most the time but the healing is taking a lot longer than anticipated .

Tracy - Hmm, was I doing 4-day split ? If I did, it was just a week or two and at that, the weight work only. I did 3 weeks or so of GS and this week, due to several hours of trimming bushes/trees this weekend, did the lighter PS workouts. Not sure where I'll go from there. I won't do XT or LI until fall so ... Good luck with those stairs - rather you than me, that's all I can say :D! But at least with my shot hip I have a "doctor's excuse" not to do lots of things. Not good for my strength, though, not to mention the hassle it is trying to get any cardio/lower body weight work done ....

Rhea - You're darned right :p! By this time in life, I should know a LOT more than I do !!!!!!!! Surely "they" just changed things along the way and I'm really not as dense - or forgetful - as I seem, right ;)?

OK, Lita, I need your help remembering, what was the last series Cathe made? I remember that I didn't buy it. I think it was after the XT series. I am going to order this new series she is putting out and I think I can get a 20% discount on the previous series, but I remember at the time I only wanted a couple workouts, not the whole series.

I watched Cathe's skype interview on FB. Of course, that made me want to order the next series. I do think the HIIT and tabata are helping with my endurance, as I see especially in biking. It is so windy here where we bike, some days I just didn't want to do it, but this time even with the wind it's much easier, so it's got to be the HIIT.

Have a good weekend everyone! It's suppose to be really nice here

Melinda - I can't find a name for it . Cathe just referred to them as the 2013 dvds and that's all the page link shows, too. In case it helps, there's:
Flex Train
Great Glutes
Lean Legs & Abs
Party Rockin' Steps 1 & 2
Rockout Knockout
X10
