Low Carbers - August 2009

Pink - I really liked the variety and new moves in STS. Plus it was great not to have to think of what workout I was going to do for 3 1/2 months :p. I did have problems with some of it - but that's because of joint issues, not the workouts per se. Like Melinda, I was perfectly fine with just walking as my cardio during STS. It really demanded a lot ;). But then again, by the end I was ready for it to end - especially as Meso 3 had some really long (IMHO) upper body workouts .

OK, I just finished the first week of Meso 3.

Pink, this is my second time around with sts and I like it better. I also give myself 2 weeks to do whatever between mesocycles, for psychological reasons!

I think I may just keep doing this. I will finish meso 3, then take 2-3 weeks to do other workouts, then probably go back to meso 1. I felt like I was losing strength when I stopped sts and don't want to do that. For the most part, I'm using the same weights I did the first time around, but some things are easier to do. I am also warmer because it is summer, first time it was still cold out and I am more stiff.

Today will be some kind of interval cardio. Oh, I did better with the plyo legs this week. Didn't get sick to my stomach at all!

Lita, it is so true that often we don't see the things that are right in our back yards, but will go travel somewhere else to see new sights. I think we take for granted that it's always there and we can see it whenever we want, so we just put it off.

thanks shadow and melinda

I just finished meso 2 and am so big my shirts....and pants dont fit!!!! its not fat because my weight is 3lbs less than when I started. I also have a tendency to gain muscle.

I wanted to add cardio to meso 3 to lean out (and tighten up my diet)

I do love how strong I am. I can man handle my kids (and dog) no problem.

I am finding I need more sleep and do feel exhausted. I think this next meso I will be able to step it up with the cardio.

Did you guys get bigger during meso 3. I dont think my wardrob can handle it:eek:

HI everyone!

Just a quick post...vacation, smacation....I've been working all week. How did that happen? Been helping DH with his classroom....he is no good at the decorating thing. He is going to teach kindergarten, so it had to be bright and cheerful. I giggle every time I think of him with 20 five year olds. hehehe

Then I was a glutten for punishment and did my yard sale finally. Yuck. Now I'm trying to get my filthy house clean. The fun just keeps coming!

I did manage to get in two nice long workouts in this week though. Did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit; cardio intervals and a great ab workout. Pulled my back a bit today loading the darn truck, so I'm not sure I'll be able to workout tomorrow. Today's workout is yard sale clean-up and house work (oh and a not planned wash of the dogs since one of them decided that her perfumed needed to be whatever animal poopy that she rolled in....eewwwe.

Well, back to work for me. Have a great rest of the weekend.

I'm here, Rhea :). I have a houseguest for 2 weeks and I'm afraid it's not been good for my disposition :p ;)...

Hmmm - maybe I should send her to take a hike with DH so we could both get some peace and quiet :D!

Hi all,

I'm here. Started week 2 of Meso 3. Pink, I was most bulky during meso 2. I couldn't believe it, I felt fat. Not as bulky with meso 3. Sts is better the second time around. I guess I should have taken measurements, but I didn't. But my legs are hard a rocks, all around and my arms are a lot firmer too.

Today is week 2 legs from meso 3

Lita, I am not good with long visits especially in my house! I start getting moody and annoyed, even if it's no one's fault. Just need time to myself.

Wow, Melinda, looks like STS is really working for you this time :D! Wonder if it's because you're doing it on your schedule with breaks inbetween rather than "having" to do it in X amount of time? And yes - we definitely have the need for time alone in common ;)!

Hey, Tracy, just in case you pop in here today, I want to wish you an early

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi babes! I feel like it's been ages since I've been here!

Thank you so much for the good wishes Lita! I almost forgot it was tomorrow! Bad wifey, bad! :p

I plan to do STS again when the weather gets colder. I change my mind on what I want to do in the summer too much, depending on the heat (no a/c in my workout room). In the meantime, I have been increasing my weights with my other workouts in the hope of keeping the strength gains I got.

Pink, you are one busy mommy!! I didn't gain the muscle that you and others have. I'm one of those types that has a heck of a time putting on muscle! And even though I know I'm stronger from STS, it doesn't show it. And I feel your latte need! I also keep Starbuck's frappacinos in the fridge. Did I just write that out loud?

I still have problems with DH and working out sometimes. I just put my foot down and say I'm a better person if I get this time to myself. And we don't even have kids!

Melinda, I feel for you with your full house! I definitely think that women need more time to themselves than men do. I'm so happy for you that you are getting such awsome results the second time around with STS! Maybe I'll listen to myself more the second time in case I need to break it up like you have. Oh, who am I kidding? I'm probably too anal to do that!

Rhea, you are one busy woman! And I have to admit that I got a little chuckle out of the fact that DH is teaching the little ones this year. :) And I laughed about your dog's new perfume! Hope your back is OK and the house the way you want it so you can relax!

I worked out to Amy Bento's Slo-Mo Challenge this week. It's like Cathe's gym styles and TOUGH. I'm feeling the DOMS!

Lita, hopefully, the houseguest has is on the way out the door soon! And if I don't get back here before Monday (it's a possibilty since DH and I are going to the rental house this weekend to work on it as part of our "vacation"--ug, don't get me started!) HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FRIEND!!! I hope you get to do something very special to celebrate YOU!

Tracy - It's so good to finally see you! And thank you so much for the wishes, dear friend! I hope you and DH have a great weekend, even if you have to do something as yucky as that! And I hope YOU get to celebrate, too!!!!!!

Rhea - Now where are YOU ??????

Pink - How's it going with the cleaner eating :)?

Melinda - What are you going to do once STS is over with? I am thrilled there's no dizziness or bad effects from plyo legs this time around!

Cool - I just got my HTML turned on. That's much easier than trying to remember the HTML codes by myself, especially when it comes to colors :p!

OUr internet at home was down. Pfft.

Well, haven't worked out all week. Such a lazy twit. But the heat is back and so not wanting to workout when I get home. Tried today, but just stopped, my feet still hurt from my using my older shoes last week. (another story)

Anyhoo.....hey, what are you doing for your bday Lita? Anything special?

I'll be busy sewing this weekend. DH wanted little pillows for the tykes and somehow I got volunteered? Hmm, he's going to have to pay big time.....lol

Well, back to work.

Rhea - I don't blame you for not wanting to work out in the heat!!! Take care of those feet AND yourself - 'cause you're special, okay :)? Hopefully you can come up with some good payment for DH for those pillows ;). As for the bday, I'll be going to an orthopod to see about the hip surgery I supposedly need . Then Thursday is the yearly mammo & physical. Gosh, the fun never ends :p!

OOh, Lita, you had better tone it down! You are just having way too much fun there with your schedule. LOL;)

Rhea - Just makes you wanna come have fun w/ me, doesn't it ;) ? But then again, I'm not sure you have a hoot there with some of the things you get into :p!

Wow, Lita, you sure do know how to have fun! ;) I have all that stuff done around my b-day too.

It was 100 degrees in Utah when I was there on Friday. I was at a high school gym doing a health screening for 750 people AND the gym had now a/c! They had the doors open and big fans blowing. And things were so spread out that I was walking back and forth all day for 10 hours! I went back to the hotel and fell asleep. The flew home Saturday, took 7 hours travel time. So I am tired and cranky today! Ohio is also cool, just around 70 degrees and damp, it feels chilly after the hot, dry weather.

After Meso 3, I plan on taking 2 weeks off and going back to meso 1. I skipped that meso the second time around.

Tracy, happy anniversary! Hope you had a nice weekend at the rental house.

Rhea, when does your DH start teaching? School starts here on Wed.

Melinda - DH started today. He said he is going to have to revise his lesson plans since the little darlings could not sit still. Some didn't even know how to hold a pencil, so his first month is all teaching very very basic stuff to half the kids.

Started back up today with workouts. Came home at lunch and did a yoga booty ballet, then when came home after work, decided to add on Burn Circuit #1. I feel pretty good. Probably will be sore tomorrow. Thank goodness I have a massage...hehe.
