Low Carbers and Friends - Nov & Dec 2011

Looked and saw my last post was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. So I hope you all had a nice holiday. DH took the week off work. I had testing Mon and Tue before, but we managed to do some things on our own outside of work and school. I did get the 4 days off from school. It starts back up on the 26th with yet another test. Then I have one on Dec 3 and 11th and I'll be done for a month!!! I have all my assignments turned in. Only one clinical yet to go on Dec 1.

So it was warmer the earlier part of the week so we got to go biking for about 3 days. We also went for a walk on Thanksgiving at the park. Now it is FREEZING cold, blustery wind. I really don't like the cold, I find myself turning into a hermit. I have to travel to Cleveland in a few hours, early a.m. work up there tomorrow morning, but will be home less than 24 hrs. DH is getting gas in the car for me :) Hoping I can go up and back without ever having to get gas and get out of the car!!!

One week left for STS.

Wow, I've been remiss too! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. LIta is off doing her list (don't tell me you don't have one, I know better)

I started the 2012 Holiday Challenge on Nov. 16th. I've been cleaning up that nutrition and working out like mad! I even started walk/running the dog. The houdini dog really needs it; he has actually been a bit calmer with a 1.5 mile run (for him three miles, lol) a day. So every evening, I'm out there walking with the turd. I even try to run a bit, but that is still only about 30 seconds at a time, I'm so out of shape for running. This challenge I've been sticking to the P90X rotation, don't know why, but it is just feeling right with me, so there I am.

I'll be checking in more often, really, I will. Even though I know for a while I'll just be talking to myself. lol

Hi Rhea,

So a friend of mine does P90X and I thought about getting it, but then never did. So what are your thoughts on the jumping? Does it cause you issues. Is it way more intense than Cathe? I really wish I could just borrow it and see if it is something I'd do, but my friend uses hers so much that really wouldn't work. I am waiting to hear your thoughts.

I see all those before and after pictures, but really doubt I would look any different. I may be stronger, but have never had abs I'd want to show off, or even show!

My friend really likes the workouts, but she doesn't have others to compare to so it's not the same.

Actually, the only jumping is in the plyometrics workout dvd and you can totally modify and not jump or just go up on the toes. All the others are weights, yoga, stretch. The yoga is very intense as it is 90 minutes (I rarely do the whole thing) One of my favorites is called core synergistics, which is a lot like a Cathe workout. Lighter weights, combination exercises. In the rotation, core synergistics is used during the "recovery" week. It is a good workout and you do have to "bond" with Tony, some people don't like him. He cracks me up cause he can't help himself...always has to talk!

OK, Rhea, so we have been looking at bodybugg and have some questions. What model do you have and do you have to pay a monthly fee to use it, or can it be used independently of the web site. I am not interested in a monthly fee to connect with their web site. Was thinking of being able to use it like a HR monitor. Is this possible to just get the readings on my own?

I'm not sure the model I have the one that is more square. I believe that you have to pay a monthly fee for even basic computer access. I paid for the Jillian Michael one which is a little more. I should change back since I no longer
Go on her site that much. I think the bodyfit site is only 6.95.

Hi babes! Good to see you here! Lita, quit trying to complete your to-do list and git over here! :p

I did P90X last year for a little while and unlike STS, you do the same workouts again and again. I liked it, it was challenging and I got used to Tony's yakking. But I didn't go the whole 90 days so I don't know if I would have gotten tired of it. Is this something you can rent from your library or Netflicks Melinda?

On my 3rd dvd player at work now! (Going super cheap is not a good idea after all...) And it plays the DVDs DH made for me from videos so I am doing S&H this week--happy for a "new" workout! Still taking BB for runs after work although they really are like this: run like crazy, stop, sniff the ground, run a little more, go poop, jog, run like crazy, etc. :) I'm used to taking him at night now and go to places where it's lit up.

We now have cabinets, lights, sinks, flooring and toilets in the house--yippee! Getting there. Good thing too because I'm wiped out and not at all ready for the holidays!:eek::D

Have a great week babes!

Tracy - Those are GREAT things to have in a home :p! So glad you're going to get to do some "new" workouts! Give that adorable BB a big ole hug from me!

Melinda - I'm sure you're going to enjoy that upcoming break after all those tests :D! I know you're doing great on the testing but I'm sure it's a lot of pressure, too :(!

Rhea - Of course there was a list  and I am very pleased to say that other than raking one more time (we either had snow or wind the whole time I was off, the "to do" list is finished .

Wow Tracy, you are almost done! Yippee! Got a move-in date yet? Oh, BTW, could you e-mail me at my work address? For some reason it doesn't pick up your name anymore and I can't find your e-mail on the contacts. I don't know what it did. Thanks :)

Hah, Lita - I knew you had a list. Lists don't even work for me anymore, I always end up doing something that wasn't even planned.

Yep, TH from P90 can get a little annoying, but I've either gotten used to him or just tune him out. What I like the most is the lack of equipment needed for most of the workouts. I probably am not going to do a full 90 days this time. I'm thinking of adding on the P90X2 for next week (supposed to be "recovery", but I'm not taking a full type week in the middle of a challenge) I'm wanting to add on some Cathe though too since I haven't done any in a while.

Believe me, Rhea - I know just what you mean. The list only makes you work TWICE as hard if you're determined to get the planned along with the unplanned done !

Tracy, BB is giving you interval training! Yes, when do you get to move into the house? You have waited a long time for this.

I am getting more and more interested in P90X. I did order the latest Cathe workout series, but could also request the P90X for Christmas. I've finished the STS rotation last week.

One more final this Tue and then I will have a list to tackle. I want to do some deeper cleaning in the house, clean my office and get Christmas presents. I have not done anything yet. Plus, I'd like to go to lunch with a few friends.

Yeah Melinda!!! Glad it is all over and now you can relax...haha...like women can relax at the Holidays. pfft

Okay, where is everyone? I'm playing by myself again. Lol.....like I'm even here that much lately!!

I understand that ;) - but unfortunately, the paycheck is kinda something I rely on :p....

Hi, I'm here! I have officially made my last Christmas order online and I am now done shopping! I feel like I have a ton of bricks removed from my shoulders. The last present will be coming on Thur after Christmas, but that's ok.

DH talks about retiring all the time and he's 46. Can't hurt to dream!

So I finished up STS. I hope we get the new series soon, I haven't been paying too much attention to it, I figure I'll get it when I get it. I think I may buy P90X used from someone, I don't care if it's not new. Running through the GS series this week and believe it or not, we got to go biking this past Sun, it was close to 60.
