Low Carbers and Friends - March 2010

Hi Girls,

This morning I did Legs & Glutes.that was a blast from the past for me. I can't remember the last time I did that workout. It was way easier than I remember it being. I hope to have some doms but not sure if I got my legs as good as I hoped. Man I guess B&G has really made a difference in my legs endurance. I think once my collar bone is feeling better I'll try PLB again.

I found a place today! The last one I found my roommates backed out on me. This place will be perfect! Its going to be a 3-5 minute drive to where I'm moving my store. I'll have plenty of workout space! Yay! I move in next weekend. I don't have to worry about a deposit or anything. My friend owns the house and had the master bedroom to rent out.

Melinda- I pre-ordered the tower. I used it a few times before my collar bone injury. It was great for pull ups. Man, I have never had such doms in my lats as when I did those. Ouch! I look forward to actually being able to use that piece of equipment again when I move.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Good afternoon everyone!

I have the tower on my wish list. I'll eventually need it because I can't go any heavier for chest work with the barbell because I won't be able to lift from the floor as we are sitting. I might try using the dumbells for that....

I will be scarce this week as I have no internet at home for a while. Dumb dumb here switched from cable to satellite for the tv and didn't think about the "cable modem" for the internet being cut off. I'm also switching the internet, but they won't be here until Weds. I just didn't think about the between time....lol.

Well, back to work.....

Well, just throw 'em all in jail so you have time to come play when you're at work :p!

I would like the tower but can't justify it for chin ups only. I don't have a barbell and what little I tried to use one, I definitely won't be investing any kind of money in that .

I'm as heavy as I can go safely on STS chest work but I just increase the reps by 2 (which is all it takes most times to hit failure!) and that's just going to have to be good enough. Besides, I'm not aiming to become a female Arnold, ya know ;)!

Hi babes! Thanks for saying I don't ramble on too long!

Lita, I do not sit like Cathe does on the pull ups with the tower, no way! I kick my legs out straight and then TRY to do chin ups and pull ups! :p

I preordered the tower as well. Is there a decent coupon this month for it? I wouldn't get it if I didn't use a barbell either Lita! And I'm already afraid I won't be able to buy ANYTHING after getting my house built, so I gotta spend it now when I have it! Except I really don't have it so it's probably a good thing that I don't need the tower!

Reece, congratulations on your new place and your increased leg strength with B&G!!!

Rhea, I hope you can get back here soon! Darn technology...I hate that we need it so! Has there been progree made on your house? I have nothing to report on this end!

Lita, I think increasing your reps is a great idea rather than going heavier! I'm afraid I don't recall PH as well because I've had PUB longer. And I don't have MIS so my vote is PUB so you can avoid push ups!

Melinda, I think getting P90X used is a great idea, maybe there's a tower out there for sale used too. Just a thought. :) If you do get P90X, I would love to hear your review!

I went to my Meet Up workout group last Thursday and it was a good circuit workout! 1 minute of an exercise, 30 second walk and then onto the next station. I have to say ladies that I was the oldest one there, and in better shape than the 6 others who showed up (except the trainer of course). Yippee! Made me feel good. I think a lot of the people who go are already working with the trainer so I'm kinda the odd one out. Oh well, I'm definitely enjoying the change of pace!

So, I was missing STS today! I did Body Max 2 and I don't think that was a good workout to do after slow and heavy weight work! I think I'll be hurtin' tomorrow! I'm hoping to do discs 37-40 over the next 4 weeks if I can figure out what other workouts to do to compliment them. Lita, looks like PUB is coming up for me too!

Have a great week babes!

Tracy - You are so funny :D! PUB definitely won so I'm glad that got your vote too . I did it Sunday - other than making my back ache for some silly reason, it went well. I actually have a bit of DOMS in the chest which is great after not having any during STS Meso 1 ;). Did ME upper today - man that ball squeeze fries me every time ! Did B&G yesterday and Thurs will be MMA: Boxing, then I will be done other than my walking for another week - yeah :)! Then on to the final week of STS Meso 1 next week.

So you're going to do the squat rack legs, huh? I think I would (JMHO, ya know!) pair it w/ something heavy like S&H or Meso 3. Maybe GS, but I kinda doubt it....

Good afternoon!

Tracy - too funny....not much else on this end to report either. Still working on the plans, then the financing, etc.

Not sure what I'll do today. I might do an older one just for the fun of it. This week will be a grab it, do it type of week. Probably next week too since I have trial. I still need to do the last disk of sts #4, so I'll probably do it Thurs. Just was too tired yesterday to do anything. Time change caught up with me I guess.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Rhea - Good luck getting to and thru that trial!!!! I know you'll kick butt :D!

Tracy - Forgot to say........ I'm not the least bit surprised you're in better shape than the others! But isn't it great when all these years of dedication pay ;)?

Hi babes! You're so sweet Lita, thank you! The trainer at the Meet Up group asked me what I do for exercise and I said I work out at home (forgot to say, "with dvds") and that I've been doing it for many, many years. :) It was great to have it pay off!

Lita, your workout rotation is making me tired just reading it--goodness! I don't think I'll be starting disc 37 this week because I was sore today from BM2 in the booty and leg area so I got scared! (And I did recalculate it all so I'm not going to have to squat almost 3/4 of what I weigh!) :p Do you have CTX Upper Body by any chance? It was a compilation from the series and I have it on video but there was a dvd made for it too. I use that one for upper body only days too. Although I do believe there are the dreaded push ups in it! I plan to do maybe 2 cardios and then the upper and lower body on different days when I do discs 37 through 40. Or I may do something like ME, then cardio, then upper body, then lower body. We'll see how I feel!

Rhea, good luck on your trial!!! DH is keeping me in the dark about house stuff so I don't get my hopes up. I've waited so long for it to get going that's it's best to leave me in the dark. :p

So I decided I wanted a shorter workout and grabbed Circuit Blast today. Good thing I didn't say I wanted an easy working, gol! I paused it alot when the HR soared but I liked it alot. It's definitely a winter workout though. I will not be doing cardio like that in the summer! :D

Later babes!

Hi workout buddies!

Bad news for me this morning. I went to the dr. to have my collar bone adjusted again and he put me on wt restrictions again! I can't lift more than 10 lb total for 6 weeks!!!! LAME!!! And this time I was a good girl. It went out because I slept wrong. I've been very cautious with my form and my wt selection for upper body. I'm pretty bummed. So I'm going to just go with the flow.Any ideas on workouts that don't tax the upper body but will still keep me in shape? Oh and I move out this Saturday. I'm super excited. So that will count as great news!

Rhea- Good luck with your trial!

Lita- I wish I had time to keep up with a rotation. I miss those days when I lived with my parents and didn't have to work. I worked out like crazy!

Tracy- You've made us proud girl! You show off your fitness. Yeah!

Oh Reece - what a bummer :(! I'm sure that's the last thing you wanted to hear ! This is actually the first time I've stuck to a rotation in a long time - it's kinda novel :p. Some days it's all I can do to convince this tired body to go let alone challenge my even more-tired brain trying to figure out what to do :p.

Tracy - I did contemplate CTX upper but as I recall it was really fast paced so I opted for better known workouts . I've only done CTX once and didn't really feel worked at the time since I had to keep my wts really light to keep up withe the tempo - although these days, it could be a whole other story .

Hi Everyone,

I am homesick! I am not sleeping well in the hotel. I did try doing the travel dvd. I think that is good, gets everything moving. Very little cardio, it's mostly doing stuff with the band, but was nice. I think it would be a good workout to do if you were injured or getting over being sick.

Reece, did you get the STS cardio series. That has some great workouts. Lita and I like the boxing one and that might be good if you don't want a lot of weight on upper body.

Rhea, so you are back on the internet. I feel like I go through withdraws if I can't get online.

Tracy, sounds like you are enjoying your workouts with the group. I used to be so rigid about only doing my dvds, but have expanded my thinking as I get older.

Lita, I am not much for following rotations too. I think I'm doing good to follow STS, but it still allows me to do my own thing between the weight work.

I get home tomorrow! yea, can't wait to sleep in my own bed!

Hi Gals,

Just trying to get all packed up for my move this weekend!

Melinda- I do have the new cardio series. Come to think of it I think I own everything Cathe has on the market. I wasn't too whizzed with the MMA workouts. I know I need to do cardio. I guess that is what I'll focus on.

Lita- My schedule is pretty hectic. Its going to get worse here next month when I move my whole store and set up my new location. I really hope my collar bone corporates!

Have a great night ladies!

Reece - Good luck moving!!! I hope it doesn't hurt that collarbone :(! I remember having a lot more energy (and being a lot busier) when I was younger, too, lol! It's kinda nice to get older and a bit more sedate ;).

Melinda - That's why I'm sticking w/ STS for now, too! Sorry you're homesick - I could never travel as much as you do! Thanks for the review of the travel DVD :)!

Rhea - Are you back on line yet???? Miss ya, girl!!!!!

Tracy - Forgot to say  I think you should do just one of each exercise at 3/4 of your weight just for the experience of it all :D! JK, ya know :p!!!!!!!

Yep, I'm back on line at home, but just no time to be on the 'puter. Been good with the workouts at least. Today is a rest day since I'm tired. Yesterday was run in the a.m., and then disc #36 finally.

Not sure if there will be any workouts this weekend. Sunshine may get to me and make me go outside. Which means yard work, well, housework too. Oh joy.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!~

Gosh, you are such a party girl, Rhea :p  :D! I think fresh air and sunshine sounds like a great plan - but only to enjoy, not to work hard in ;).

Hi Everyone,

Back home for 2 days then off to FL with DH. It's for work, but I asked to do this. Need some warm temps and hope I can get a tan!

I am squeezing in 2 STS workouts. Did the 3rd week of chest, shoulders, triceps yesterday and today doing legs. I will take more workouts with me, but no weight work other than the travel dvd with the band. Will be home all of April (I think) unless something comes up.

Lita, the traveling used to scare the crap out of me, but I'm getting better at it. I do feel more at ease when DH goes with me, it's nice going with someone.

Hi babes! Reece, I am so sorry about your collar bone!!! :( I really feel for you since I can tweek my bad shoulder while I sleep. It isn't fair I say! I'm thinking that kickbox workouts would be good for you now because they don't require upper body weight but they still get the arms moving. Did you get Travel Fit too? I wonder if the band resistance is OK for you...good luck on your move this weekend! I'm sending you lots of healing wishes!

Hi Melinda! Glad you are back home for a bit before your jaunt to FL. Ahhhh, sunshine! I do hope you get a tan! Thanks for the review of Travel Fit, I'm going to give it a whirl on Monday. I used to be afraid to travel by myself but the more I've done it, the more confidence I have gotten. As for the workout group, I don't think I would have tried it a few years ago! Guess I'm getting a little more adventurous in my youth. :p

Lita, you crack me up! I'll be doing those 3/4 weights when I'm 80! :D If I'm llucky!! Can you see us now, checking in on this thread? You'll be kicking butt on STS and I'll be proud that I did 15 minutes of anything!!!!

Rhea, we were promised a gorgeous day today. Gorgeous! And didn't get it! It was nice enough to be outside but it was cloudy. Darn weather people! Hope you didn't work too hard outside. We are at the Vancouver house now (our dear neighbor lets us use her wifi) and we worked outside! Sigh.

I didn't get to try disc 37 this past week but will next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

So, just for something different--what is your favorite color? And do you wear it alot? I think my favorite color is terra cotta but I don't think I own one piece of clothing in that color! :p

Have a great rest of the weekend babes!

Melinda - I hope you enjoy that trip to FL :)! It sounds much better - especially having a traveling companion to help you soak up some rays ;).

Tracy - ROTFL!!!! When we're 80 we'll just see who's kicking whose butt - if we can remember that far into the future :p! With my memory, it's debatable ! As for colors - mine tends to change quite frequently .... There's really a green a like but it depends on whose catalog you're reading as to what it's called . Or maybe I think it's my fave right now because that's what I have the most of ;). Great idea for a new topic !

:cool:Good morning, er afternoon.... Did my run this morning, not sure if I'm going to add on a CLX weight this afternoon. I might since I seem to remember that they are pretty short, less than an hour with some in the30 minute range.

So, favorite color huh? Mine is purple, all shades. Pink is the next. And yes I have tons of clothes in both. I look hideous in yellow and most greens, so I wear lots of purple, pink, black, brown. My first day of trial suit is a dark purple. Since I've been getting not guilty verdicts with it, I have to continue the tradition of wearing it on first day. Sort of makes it easy to pick out what to where huh?

Well, speaking of trial, back to work.:eek:

Hi babes! I think wearing your lucky purple suit is an excellent idea Rhea! I need to get more purple in my closet. I don't have much. Have a lot of pink, red, blue and green, in varying shades. And tons of black and brown. You'll never catch me in yellow either! I would think with your coloring that you would look good in green! :)

Lita, do you wear all shades of green or do you stick to one side of the spectrum? I love green and go from dark forest green to kelly green to light green, but stop just short of chartruese. Did I even spell that right? :p

I did Travel Fit yesterday and began laughing when Cathe was doing some of the arm work because it was so dang hard! :D:eek: I had the privilege of getting Cathe's bands at the RT and I used the green one that I hadn't broken in yet. Yikes! I could not do the overhead presses with my foot in the band. Goodness!

Today I did disc 37, the lower body workout from STS. I don't recommend it if you don't use a barbell and if you do use a barbell, I recommend using the weighted vest too. That being said, I'm not entirely sure I had the right weight for the exercises. I recalculated them, going off of what weight I had used in earlier discs but I think I was supposed to go higher. Why you ask? The rest periods between each exercise were 2 1/2 minutes! I ff through almost all of them. I definitely feel worked, I went a little higher than I ever have on weight work but I'm still unsure. If I have bad DOMS tomorrow, I may have done it right!

Happy Hump Day (tomorrow) babes!
