Low Carbers and Friends - 1st quarter 2015

Melinda - So happy to see you :D! Yes, Cathe definitely uses bigger weights in this series but like you - I am maxed where I am! The community center sounds awesome :). I like your outlook - as long as you're moving, it's all good .

Tracy - How'd that climb go yesterday :)?

Rhea - How are things in your corner of the world :)?

Wow, I finally found the thread again. Tapatalk changed how they work with the forum on the ipad and I couldn't find anything! I wonder if I unsubscribed by accident?

My corner of the world is okay. Was a very rough week. I was dog sitting on the three day weekend and didn't warn my DH that the dog could bolt. I also didn't realize that he could/would bolt so suddenly. So Sunday morning, in the dark, he looked at my DH right after he peed and bolted over the retaining wall. We spent eleven hours looking for him, found him twice, he ran twice...

It was my deputies dog and she was very interesting in her response. I think it is her age and never having lost an animal like that before....completely hysterical type of reaction. Not mad, but upset. He had been sited a couple of times, but still at large. You know, I think he may just want to be free......turd.

I have to say, at least I got my 25000 step badge last Monday because of all the walking. My dog got lots of exercise too....he loved going out and looking for Rocky (small dog btw)

So I once again got back to workouts this morning. Did Piyo lower body. Will take a bike ride with the dog (another thing I found that he absolutely loves, he thinks it is grand fun and pretty much keeps up with me, but thinks its more fun to catch up and then get ahead of me) We race.

Okay, I better get back to work.

Oh, Lita - are you getting any of that snow? I'm going to have to pop over to facebook to see how Jeanie is with the snow.

Rhea - Wow, that's a heck of a way to get those steps in ;). So in the end, did you get the little bugger back? How fun to bike with your dog! I see people do it in town but some of them have the poor thing pretty much dragging on their leash because they can't keep up....

How is Jeanie???? I sure wish she wasn't such a stranger! Thankfully I'm sitting pretty in the 40s w/ sunshine - to get to low 50s tomorrow :) before cooling down again. No precip predicted, I don't think. Now my sister, OTOH, west of Jeanie (same state) has gotten 18" so far....

Jeanie is doing just great. She said she didn't get much of the snow. our weather is pretty good too.

Well, now workouts got put on back burner....again. My deputy whose dog it was, was such a mess that she has been having anxiety attacks. She went to mental health and they took her off of work until the 6th of Feb. So guess who gets to do her job? Hmm....I really am never dog sitting again. As a friend, I feel terrible. As a boss, I'm like WTF? Not much I can do though. So far 2015 is just gangbusters.

What good is it going to do them to take off work? That just gives them more time to sit around focused on what they're worried about! Jeez .... I mean, I am really sorry about her dog - I know that is breaking her heart - but I seriously don't get giving her more time to do nothing but think about it.

So very sorry, Rhea!!! What a mess to be in for simply trying to do someone a favor! (((HUGS))))

Hi fit babes! So good to see you Melinda! It looks like all of us here have had a fairly nice winter and I am grateful! No snow, yet anyway. I'm knocking on wood! It's also staying light later too so I loving that. Pretty soon I'll be able to take BB out after work and it won't be dark, yippee!

Great idea to join a community center! I too am not going any higher on my weights either. I'm again attempting the Rw/H rotation. Did the first one today!

Rhea, I am SO sorry for what happened with your friend's dog (and what it did to you emotionally) but am really questioning why the dog wasn't trained not to bolt to begin with and why your friend was ordered off from work. Keeping busy is the best medicine! I hope the dog was chipped and is found soon. And here's to a better year for you starting now! (((HUGS)))

I think it's awesome you can ride your bike with your dog Rhea! BB often tries to kill me when we go for a run by stopping suddenly and I almost flip over him. Little poop! I can't see us managing anything if I was on a bike!

Well, a true blue Monday for me today! After an incredible game 2 weeks ago, a heartbreaking loss yesterday. I surprised myself by crying! :( And got into a verbal argument on FB with an east coast flamer! Then my laptop blew up (I'm on DH's right now) and one of our paralegals may be leaving soon. No, she won't be replaced right away because we have to see how we do with the budget--June 30 will let us know at the earliest. I dunno how we are going to handle the additional work of a full-time employee!:confused: There's more to my day but I'm going to end my venting now! :D Thanks for listening! Things will work out, they always do. :)

Take care sweet babes! You all deserve the best!!!

Tracy - (((HUGS!!!!))) First of all, I am VERY sorry the SH lost ! As for that flamer on FB - don't people have lives ? Hopefully your laptop can soon be fixed/replaced :). Good luck at work - I know it's not going to be easy :(! Fingers crossed the budget allows a new hire this summer! Hopefully the next time you pop in, things will be going MUCH better for you :D!

Hey there!

Tracy, when Ohio State won the game against Alabama to go to the National Championship, there were posts by Alabama fans saying how we were basically not good enough to really go. So I get what you are saying. You did have a bad day with all that hitting you at once!

Lita, I'm sure you saw that big storm heading to the East. Lucky us, in the middle of Ohio we missed the big snow and it was all rain here, so the roads are clear. But if it would have been snow I'd be in a mess now! Saw pics of my cousin in KS and it was 66 degrees, oh how I wish! We still manage to get a 6 mile walk in once a week at the park, but that usually is in the 30 degree range.

Rhea, I'm sorry, but the whole dog situation is ridiculous, taking time off work is crazy. It won't help a thing and like the others said, just makes her super focused on the problem. And even though I was not involved, the story made me irritated that you had to spend 11 hours looking for the dog. Yea, I don't think I'd ever dog sit again, either!

I've been doing the Ripped series and starting to get used to it more, have not done any rotation though, as I had thought I might. Maybe March I will start one, don't think it will happen Feb. XT is still one of my favorite series.

Melinda - So good to 'see' you :D! Glad the snow missed you - rain is much easier to deal with, isn't it ;)? My next rotation (starting Sat) is going to be XT. As I remember, I liked it, but it's been so long I forget the timing and weights and all . Hopefully I'll catch on again pretty quick - I just hate having to re-learn workouts :p!

So good to "see" everyone. I feel like I've missed so much because of everything. I need to get back to here and to my other BFFM board. The BFFM thread I belong to has been pretty slow too.

I'm going to have to start up some sort of rotation. I have three different series that I have not done a full rotation because of one reason or another. I think I might try to mix them up. Will take some work though since I'll have to try and not work same body parts two days in a row. I did so HIIT shoulders, chest, and triceps on Monday when I got home. I had so much lactic acid in me on Tues. I wasn't feeling so hot. Thought I had some sinus issues, but after going home, realized it was probably a combination of too much caffeine, tight upper back/shoulders and TONS of lactic acid. Felt much better this morning. Tonight, I'm going to "flush" out that lactic acid with the bicep, back and whatever workout. I've avoided that one since it is 52 minutes. But I have to workout more than once a week, so I'll be pushin play.

Tracy - I sure hope you can hire by the summer. I hate being short handed. Makes for long days, no lunches ( I tend to work and eat at the same time....not good for you)

Melinda - glad the snow missed you too. Snow has been absent here also. Supposed to have a storm coming in this week, but from Hawaii, so its the "pineapple express" not the snow belt. I'm actually taking my car down today to get the studded snow tires off. They are wearing out too fast with no snow.

Lita - probably still just cold there with no snow, huh? I might have to pull out XT too. Since I mainly workout when I get home, got to find all the shorter premixes. Sometimes even hour long ones are too long in the evening. Don't like eating dinner so late. I have to get my beauty sleep. It will get a little different when daylight savings time starts back up. I tend to stay up later with the sun. Of course, that means mornings are really tough. lol

Rhea - So glad you popped back in :D! Hopefully all is much better at your office - or will be soon :). The only downside to XT (after RWH) is that they're longer workouts. I've gotten spoiled by the shorter ones :p. But I'm sure you'll find premixes to suit your schedule - I certainly wouldn't want to workout an hour after work, either ! But that's why I do mornings - if I wait until evening or have to miss my lunch to do it, it's never going to get done ;).... Once I figured that out I got more consistent :D.

Litan - I do do better in the mornings. The problem is after moving, I have to get up around 4 or so to workout. I'm not a very good morning person as it is...4 is a little early for me. I might have to start it up again though.

Hmm, what I meant by that is, I get my workouts done if I do them in the am. I guess I still need some more coffee today.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rhea - Sounds like you need a LOT of coffee :p! The only reason it's easy for me (well, not easy, but doable  ) is because I had to be at work by 5am for several years. That hour earlier (4) hurt bad in the beginning but...

Of course, I'm in bed by the time most are just eating supper ;).

Therein lies the problem for me Lita! If I get up early, I want to go to bed early, but by the time I get home, make dinner and such, I'm usually up beyond my bedtime.

So hope y'all are having a wonderful Valentine's Day! I'm currently sitting in a Capital defense seminar. However, it is in Monterey, so not too bad. The weather is absolutely beautiful this weekend. So warm, that I actually had to go find some cooler tops because I packed too warm. Usually Monterey is chilly, it was above 70 yesterday. Probably warmer than it is in the summer!

DH is happily playing golf today and has a ticket to watch the ATT Pro/Am tournament. I think we are going to try to have dinner at Bubba Gumps tonight. Might be tough since it is Valentines day.

Well, talk at 'cha later!

Rhea - So glad to 'see' you :D! Hope you got that dinner in and got to enjoy the rest of your weekend! Yes - getting to be early is tough....especially for the first 5 or 6 years, lol :p!

Hi babes! Sooooo glad to be back!! Had to get a new laptop, which is OK really since my old one was 8 years old. This one is quite a bit faster. :D

Good to see you Melinda and I'm glad you missed the big storm! And I watched part of the championship game between Oregon and Ohio a while back and it wasn't pretty for Oregon! I don't think their ugly uniforms helped them at all either! :p I can understand a little joking about the rival team but not mean-spirited stuff.

We've had a very mild winter this year, knock on wood! It got up to 60 degrees last weekend and it was sunny! Totally awesome and pretty unheard of for us. So I'll take it!

I've been doing some of the new series a couple times a week and plan to get to the Rw/H and XT rotation soon but I just signed up for a Beach Body challenge. Supposed to get short, tough DVDs (30 min each), protein shakes and do it for 21 days. I am hoping Cathe's new series has prepped me a bit! I really need to revamp my eating again, the big M has officially arrived for me and has NOT been kind to the tummy. (Then again neither have my weekend eating choices!) I'm carrying 20 extra pounds and as much as I would love to lose that much, I'd be happy to get rid of 10. I hope that changing my eating again will do it, because the weight likes to stay put. When I went on Atkins 10 years ago, I lost no weight at all and DH lost 25 lbs! (I don't expect to lose 10 pounds in 21 days either and will stay low carb as much as possible since I feel so much better with this way of eating.)

So I am going to lose a paralegal at the end of this month, sigh. :( And she won't be replaced now. Fortunately, the office is aware we can only do our best and we'll be able to shift some work so we don't go crazy. :) Annnnd since I workout for my lunch hour, I will not be giving that up! I can work a little late if necessary. Someone told me I looked drained today (I'm still doing work I got when we had someone out on medical leave for 3 months) and I think that was just due to my lack of sleep last night! I can't wait till March now, I'll look even better! I came home tonight and put a little binder clip in my hair at the top of my head so it stood straight up. I'm gonna do that the next time I look stressed at work. I'd much rather laugh than cry!

Take care sweet babes! Sorry I yakked so much!!

Tracy - You feel free to talk as much as you want, sweetie :)!!!!!!!!!! Sorry things are so stressful for you :(. Good luck with your 21 day challenge - I'm cheering you on, GF :D!

Good afternoon everyone!

Tracy - so sorry to hear about all the work. I think we just need to play the lotto every week. Gotta win sometime! lol I actually thought about that 21 day challenge from beach body, but I wasn't real thrill with more dvds. I have enough. Nope, the big M is not kind to our bodies. Neither is the alcohol, I've found that alcohol is the bigger contribution to the belly at our age. Immediately turns to cortisol, which helps build belly fat. Yuck. So I started the BFFM Love your body challenge on Feb. 21 (goes 49 days) So I'll be eating clean with no alcohol for quite a while. Also got me in the workout mode again.

However, I'm still not getting up in the morning. I need my beauty sleep. So far I'm using Cathe for my main workouts, HIIT this week. I think I might pop in STS though to see if I can get same major movement of the fat and build some muscle. Measurements were terrible, but MM wasn't so bad, I was surprised.

I might take a cue from you Tracy and try some short workouts while at work. Might get me to actually stop playing games on the ipad instead.

Well, have a great rest of the day gang!
