low carb bars anyone?

Hiya! Just wondering if it's bad to eat the low carb bars (such as the atkins brand) without being on a low carb diet. I tried one yesterday that a friend had for lack of anything else to eat while hiking and I actually found it quite tasty. I just want to make sure it is not going to make me gain weight I don't want to if I eat them regularly (in place of something else, obviously)if they're specifically for people on low carb diets. Weird question, I know, I know!! THanks bunches!

I wouldn't think they would make you gain weight unless you eat ALOT of them! Lots of people here use them, some think they are just like a candy bar! I usually eat half of one before I workout. I like the Genisoy LoCarb...they have about the same ratio as Balance bars...and not only low carb dieters eat them....so you are safe...:)...Carole

why don't you check out Kashi brand bars?

i'm not on a low carb diet, but rather a good carb diet and Kashi crunch bars were the first ones i bought cuz they have all healthy ingredients. i only use them when i cycle though... they all have too many calories and sugar just to have as a daily treat. but i figure when i burn over 1000 calories cycling.. i need to have that boost!

for just normal every day workouts.. i have a healthy muffin or some fruit.

oh.. and i never ever buy anything labeled atkins, cuz if you look at their labels and compare them to "real" similar products... you see they've added something to make them not the best, healthiest choice!

Avoid those new Pria low-carb bars. They contain lots of fat, and much of it is saturated. I was given one to try the other day, and almost ate it before I read the contents. I quickly gave it away!
