Low arches -- Need shoes

Hi Everyone,

Please help me!!! I have very low arches and my feet ache everyday! :( I'm on my feet most of the time when I'm at work and I just can't seem to find anything that makes my feet happy. I usually end up changing into my workout shoes (those are the only ones that don't make my feet hurt) but I want to wear some pretty shoes! Can anyone out there give me a recommendation?

Thanks,
aveggiegirl

I have low arches too and it is very hard to find feminine shoes especially with the slipper phases going on right now. I usually get an insert that has an arch support and try and fit it into the shoe. If it works and totally doesn't distort the shoe then I might work.
Clarkes seem to have some hipper shoes that have some support this year.

I basically live in my Mephisto's all summer... and winter( in the house).

My sister (fashion diva - with perfect little feet) really likes to bug me about that.

Good luck
Heather

FYI
Mephisto's are very expensive but... they last a long time and they are like heaven when you wear them. I have had my last pair for 3 years.

Just thought you should know

Get yourself some orthotics fitted by a podiatrist. They can make all sorts of great fitting orthotics that work in dress shoes and sometimes even sandals.

Thanks bundschuh, I never thought about going to a podiatrist. I'll call one next week.

And Heather, it's good to know about your shoes lasting a long time. I don't mind paying a lot of money if the shoes feel good and they last.

I second the recommendations for Mephisto. I have flat feet and only wear Memphisto and Naot. Naot is really great as most of their shoes have removeable orthotic that you can replace after some time. I have custom orthotics for sneakers, also have a pair for dress shoes but is nearly immposible to find dress shoe that I can fit the orthotic in. So I live in Naots and Memphisto.

That's always such a difficult thing for me, too. Recently, I've been having my suits hemmed to go with high heels, which I wear to client meetings. I have lots of perfectly comfy shoes under my desk, but if I change into them after the meeting, I'm stepping on my suit pants. I've been trying to schedule all my meetings on the same days, so the rest of the days I can just wear my comfy shoes. I know. I'm nuts. But the high heel look is just so darn flattering. Really hard to resist.

Oh, and I agree that Mephisto shoes are awesome and last a long time. My problem is that I get tired of the style and stop wearing them long before they wear out. So I stopped buying them. I do very well with Munro shoes.

I wear Dansko sandals all Summer long. They have padded footbeds and even with a 2-3 inch heel, the arch support for my very flat feet is wonderful. I also recommend Sofft shoes and boots for Winter. I wear orthotics in my running shoes and aerobic studio shoes. I will never wear those horrible flat shoes, ballet slippers or flip flops ever. Zero support for the feet. Ghastly. Danskos are not cheap, but once you have a pair, you are looking at supreme all day comfort and a shoe/sandal that will last you years and years. These are quality sandals. Dansko.com shows their current models, but once you find out what size you are in a dansko sandal, shop for them at ebay because the styles in the last 2-3 Summers were better than the current offerings.

Thanks Ladies,

I've got some serious shoe shopping to do! By the way, I love how this website has so many people who are willing to help out others. :)
