Hi everyone, Here is an update on what I have been up to

The arrival of louis james came at 458am on dec 15th via emergent c section. He was 8lbs 10oz 21 inches long. BIG BOY. I spent the last 2 weeks in the hospital because of complications of the c section. But, we are home now and baby and myself are doing better. I was induced on th 14th around 330pm and pushed for 2 hours at 2am. Baby could not get out of the birth canal..head was toooo big. Baby started having distress and needed to get out so we went for the c section. Baby had some respitory problems but is fine now. I had a bowel obstruction with a infection that i had got from the section that resulted in us staying in the hosptial 2 weeks. I had to go back to surgery.:-( I hadnt had a meal in 2 weeks. I finally just started to get my appitite back and things are moving. The pain is better but still there. I am exhausted!! Not to scare any new mommy to be's out there. I probably wont be on to much but here what is new.

Melissa

Congratulations, Melissa! And welcome to the planet, Louis James! He sounds like a healthy and beautiful baby. What an ordeal you had to go through. Glad to hear you're recovering and that "things are moving." What a relief.

So sorry to hear about the C-section complications. Did they not prescribe stool softeners like Colace after your C? What kind of dose did you take? It seems that should prevent the bowel obstruction. Anyways, I'm glad you got through that, but I'm sure you worried about your newborn while you were undergoing health problems and surgery. How did you and your significant other handle that?

Were you overdue as well? Your story sounds incredibly similar to mine and Steph's (cycling girl). I had an emergency C on Nov. 30. In retrospect, I am beginning to think that it all started with the pitocin. I think, in my case, it might have been administered too late--after labor fatigue had set in. I've heard that with pit, timing is everything; otherwise a C-section might be in the works if given at the wrong time. Anyways, as I've said before, by the third day of labor (and fetal distress on the third), I was just glad to get him out however he came out. Still, if I ever did this again, I'd be incredibly wary of the pitocin. To me, it seems like the gateway drug to a possible C.

Welcome home. I hope your transition is smooth and that you enjoy this blissful time of getting to know your baby. My Tamal is almost 5 weeks, and while the learning curve has been high for me and the sleep little, I am in seventh heaven.

Congratulations Melissa!!! And Welcome Louis James!!! (...he share's a birthday with my DH)

We were wondering what happened to you, I'm so sorry that you had to have a c-section and had complications. So not fun. I can only imagine what those 2 weeks were like for you. I'm glad you're out of the hospital and now able to recover in peace at home...I hope it's peaceful. Do you have any help or are you on your own? Hopefully you have someone there so you can get some real rest.

Seems like the first 12 weeks are a huge challenge in terms of sleep and schedules. Sienna is just 5 weeks but she eats constantly and doesn't sleep much at all. It's been truly exhausting for us...we haven't had any outside help but I'm sure that would have taken the edge off. She's a doll though, so funny and adorable, now her new smiles and cooing make everything more bearable!

I hope you have a speedy recovery and enjoy bonding with Little Louis. The last 3 of us moms have all had to have emergency Cs...hmmm, almost a trend. I do hope the next batch of babies born are natural, if that's the plan.

Congrats again and here's to a happy new year for you and your wonderful son!

Steph

thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. He was 5 days overdue. i went to the doctors and told them i wanted to be induced after the 4 days of prodromal labor i was ready. i got sick before i left the hospital they thought it was an illeus, the discharged me and i was back in the ER the next night, the to surgery in the am. the obstruction was from a twisted bowel and scar tissue. It was the worst 2 wks of my life besides my son being born. my Dh is great and very supportive. we are lucky in some respects he is self employed and took the time off to be with me. we also have a very close family who helped immensley. i dont know what we would have done with out them

Melissa,

Thanks for the update! What a horrible ordeal you went through! Jeez.
But, how does it feel to be a MOM?? Wow.

We need a visual of little baby Louis on your picture trail when you get a chance. I peeked, but no such luck. Not like you have time for any of that now! Anyhoo....CONGRATS and I hope all is smooth sailing for you from here.:7

I will try to update my pic trail if i remember how to do it.LOL. It feels great to be a mom . He is a special little man. Everyday I feel better and getting stronger. Still a little sore and have a tough time getting comfortable at night.

How are you feeling these days?
