Lots more questions

Hi Cathe!

What would be your best guess as to the length of time you will spend on each bodypart in this series? In the 4 day split for upper body it was probably 12-15 minutes and the lower body was about 30 minutes?

The one thing I missed in the 4 day split was that you couldn't separate out each bodypart exclusively. Will we be able to do that with this new series?

Also will you be recommending cardio on the days you do weights in this series or will it be best to keep cardio to the off days? What about abs?

Sorry to bombard you with questions!

Thanks!

Lora

We really won’t know total times until after we film and edit the workouts. Most of the DVDs should come in under one hour whether they’re Upper Body or Lower Body.

As for separating body parts; i.e. Biceps, Triceps, etc; this is not something you should do with this series. STS is designed so that your muscles get the proper amount of rest between sets so that certain energy cycles can replenish. You can’t cheat this without negatively affecting your workout results. A major reason we alternate between push and pull muscles in two of the cycles is so that the non-working muscle group gets a rest every other set while the other muscle group works. This method insures that each muscle gets the required rest that is needed while helping to reduce the downtime between sets.

We do work the muscle groups in order in Meso #2 , so you could work the muscle groups separately if you wanted to, but we do encourage everyone to use the STS system the way it has been designed. A lot of time , research and thought has gone into designing the STS workouts. Each mesocycle is only 4 weeks and each cycle has a completely different feel to it. Boredom should not be a problem as every workout will be different. STS uses many of the same methods that nearly every strength coach at every major University uses on their athletes. These methods are also used by most personal trainers and have been proven to work in numerous studies and have stood the test of time in Gyms and Health Clubs all over the world for decades.

We will make cardio recommendations that will be included with the STS manual, but you can use ours or anyone’s cardio routines to mix with STS to make a balanced workout. This is just another way you can help to keep your workouts fresh and maintain your motivation without succumbing to boredom and fatigue.

Thanks for your quick response!

My last question (and maybe you don't know the answer to this yet)is if cardio will be recommended for the days that we do the STS workouts or if those days will be purely weights?

Thanks!

We would strongly suggest doing STS and cardio on separate days so you can give each your all and to reduce mental fatigue, but you’re going to need to do what fits your lifestyle the best. It is not uncommon for some people to do split sessions with cardio in the morning and strength in the late afternoon or evening. In fact this is the way a lot of strength coaches like to train their athletes. But most people prefer to keep their daily workouts to no more than one hour per day and this means doing STS and cardio on separate days.
