Loose Flab - Exercising & Surgery questions

Gyggles1

Cathlete
I read the post below on ask Cathe and also posted this over there on loose flab then it got me wondering about myself. I have also read the post below here about the rotation that made her smaller, WTG by the way :)

I have lost 116 pounds and I am trying very hard to tighten up some more problem areas and I am having a difficult time getting there. I was doing mostly cardio type work or intervals ( BC, CM ) but still its not getting me to where I want to be.

I do have loose skin around the waist & tummy - I did have a tummy tuck done 2 yrs ago but believe it or not its not tight so I had thought about having a 2nd surgery (it really depresses me having the looseness for as hard as I workout ) anyway I am to the point now I don't want surgery but if thats what I have to do then I will but WILL exercising with heavier weights tone up the middle / waist ? I will definately wait surgery out if working out will work for me, alot cheaper too & healthier. I just can't stand the way I look and feel in my clothes.

I just ordered the Intensity Series & have done PUB 1 time, then I hurt my knee a little but i am getting back into it now, slowly.
Any thoughts to me toning ?

My weight flucuates from 135 - 138 ...so adding more in, should I look for a gain too ?

Thank you,

Laura =)

Hi Laura,

Wow- you are awesome! Congratulations on all of your success so far. I'm not an expert here, so I am hoping someone else who is a little more knowledgeable will post as well. In my opinion though, weights are fabulous for toning & tightening and really for health & fitness in general, so you may want to start up. I don't know if you are just experiencing some "jiggle" (that I am certainly familiar with lol) or if you have excess skin. It seems that in the case of excess skin, most people have the best luck with surgery. If you're just not as tight as you'd like, definitely try weights first. Pilates might also be something to look into.

Also, what do you mean when you say, "so adding more in, should I look for a gain too?"

Good luck, I hope you get some more feedback!

Hi Laura! Just let me first say that you look WONDERFUL!!!!! Your very tiny!!! This has been a great accomplishment for you & no easy task so you should first of all commend yourself for doing a stupendous job! I'm very impressed!! A few of us on another thread were discussing this very thing re our waists & tummies. Rhonda (rcook) suggested that we try working our abs every day so I've been doing just that. I've been using a different routine every night so as to confuse my muscles. Rhonda works her abs 30-45 min. but I found that was too much for me & I only do roughly 20 min. If I do ME ab section I can only do that one routine; its intense!! I've also tweaked my diet & so far I see more strength to my routines; better form & I'm slowly getting smaller in the tummy. Too soon to tell yet; its been only my 2nd week so far. Try it as well as going heavier on your weight training & fewer cardio (2-3x a week) & see what happens after 6 weeks. HTH, Kathy:D

Thank you so much Gine & Kathy :)

What I meant by "adding more in " was more weight work in... what to look for in a gain. Last wk I took some time off ( 6 days ) and lost like 2 pounds Ive been fighting with for 2 months, I thought for sure I would have gained...... and as soon as I start exercising whether its weights or cardio my weight goes up, very irritating and not sure if I am doing something wrong or not.

I guess it could be Jiggles but I think most of it is loose skin still. I was also thinking if I added more abs in everyday on top of my regular workout it might help, hey you never know and its better then going thru yet another surgery. I would much rather enjoy my summer then laying in bed from surgery but I know as soon as I am in my summer clothes I will be picking myself apart. You would think I would look at how far Ive come but all I can see now is what is left for me to do. I can't wear aything fitted or to tight or you see it all.

Thanks again :)
