Looking for Non-Toxic Mascara

A while back, I read up on mascara and was appalled to discover that many of them contained a toxic ingredient. My favorite at the time, Maybelline's Full n Soft, was one of the worst offenders. I quickly gave it up and tried a few health store brands, but was not satisfied with the results. Then I tried the mascara from Bare Eccentauls, and I might as well wear nothing. Not one of them gave me the results that the more "toxic" brands gave.

If you're knowledgeable about the ingredients in mascara, could you please inform me about some of the cleaner mascaras to choose and the dirtier ones to avoid? I love to make up my eyes, but want a clean mascara at the same time. Health before vanity, I guess you could say, but I'd like to cater to both.

Oh my goodness!

I did not know mascaras can be toxic!

I use all most every brand and now I am concerned!

What makes a mascara toxic?

If I know, I can look through my mascara collection and see if I have any that have stay and volume power and get back to you!

A while back, I looked at books like "Dying to Look Good: The Disturbing Truth About What's in your Cosmetics" and "Don't Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me." As I said, it's been a while, and my memory is foggy. I don't remember what the offending ingredient was, but I do remember I was horrified to learn about it. There used to be a credible, well researched, and objective website where one could go to find out more. Anybody know this website?
