Looking for a natural-looking self tanner...

Hi ladies! I am looking for recommendations for a natural-looking self tanner. My legs are just beyond white. Transparent, as my DH would say. :)

The only self tanner I have ever tried was from Oil of Olay and it was for the face only. I didn't really notice any color, but probably because it made my skin break out after only 3 applications.

Has anyone tried or is currently using a self tanner that they are happy with?

I appreciate your input!

I have some by Loreal. Can't remember the exact name. It works fast, just make sure you put is on correctly. My DH used it and you can tell where she started...she didn't use a circular motion:)

I tossed the Oil of Olay lotion. Yuk. Agree! I use the Neutrogena 3 shades darker than your skin tone, spray mist. Works great!

I use a product by Origins. I like it pretty well. It smells "minty" and doesn't streak and turn orange.

I love fake bake. Not for face though. I break out too. If it's for the rest of your body, I highly recomend it. It is easy to use and any excess washes off in the shower the next day. It always gets on my sheets at night but the washing machine takes it right out.

I have to second Fake Bake. I've tried Jergens (nasty smell), Dove (streaky orange) and Mystic Tan (wipes off next day and $$$) but Fake Bake works great! The smell is not offensive and I like that there is a dye in the lotion so you can see if you've missed anything or are going to have streaks. It also seems to last the longest for me, about a week, whereas the others I needed to reapply every other day.

I sleep wrapped up in a nasty old blanket so I don't stain the sheets...I was afraid that it wouldn't wash out. It's good to know that the washing machine will take care of it.

Thank you everyone!

Can you purchase Fake Bake at drug stores? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

Neutrogena is an option also. I saw the commercial last night.

This will be my experiment for the weekend!!! :)

I LOVE the new Aveeno tanner...It smells good (not like the others') and it actually moisturizes, too. You can get it anywhere.

Another vote for L'Oreal. When I really want a great fake tan I go to one of those spray on tan booths. Those are very expensive but I really like the result. L'Oreal gives me a great result too and I do that more often. L'Oreal's is called Sublime Bronze.

I have used the Estee Lauder brand for years. It doesn't look fake and it is easy to apply because it has the bronzer built in. The other plus is that a little goes a long way. It costs a little more than the drugstore brands but after trying most all of them, I continue to use it. Hope this helps!

I used sublime bronze the last two summers. This year they added some subtle "shimmer" to it. I was suprized because it doesn't say anything about that on the bottle, and it wasn't in there before! I need to apply every other day, or it will wear off and I look pretty "blotchy". I'd like to hear where you can buy Fake Bake, too.

Another vote for Loreal Sublime. I use the gel. I have been using it for over a year. Before that, I used the Loreal Lotion, which works great, too. I just can never find the lotion in "medium-dark" but I can in the gel.

It doesn't rub off on my sheets.

Only drawback is, I do need to reapply it a few times a week.

I think the color is great! Not as 100% as a tan but it sure beats skin cancer!!!!!!!!

It's not a self tanner, but I use the Dove lotion that brings out your natural color & I LOVE it. I use it on my legs only. It gives them a nice color, no streaks and has a decent odor. I used Jergens and while it worked well, it had the worst smell on earth! No matter how tan I get, my legs never tan very well. I always feel a little silly having a California tan on my top half and medium tan legs.

I have heard good things about the Dove lotion. A friend of mine uses it.

Okay, I'm heading to the drugstore at lunchtime today. It'll either be L'Oreal Sublime (big fan of L'Oreal), Dove or Neutrogena.

I'll check and see if they sell Fake Bake just out of curiousity. I really don't want anything that rubs off on the sheets so I probably won't buy it. I'll report back though if my drugstore sells it.

Thanks again everyone!!

The drug store doesn't sell it. You can get it at hair salons, beauty supply stores, Ulta, and Sephora. I usually get mine at Ulta.

Dove Energy Glow - it's one of the gradual self-tanners. Works great - no streaking, smells good, nice color. I have no complaints. :)

I have used many brands of self-tanner over the years (from Clarins and Guerlain to L'Oreal and other drugstore brands) and the best I've used is Bare Escentuals Faux Tan. I'm not too thrilled about BE make-up but I like this product a lot. However I use gloves to apply it and I don't use it on my face. I actually never use self-tanners on my face because my skin is very sensitive and I get breakouts easily. When I use a self-tanner on my body, I use a good powder bronzer on my face.

Sorry this is so late... I usually buy Fake Bake through Amazon.com where you can shop around a bit for the best price.
