Look what I got on EBAY! So excited!

I bought the following DVD's on ebay from seller Mateomblem:

Low Impact Step
Slow & Heavy 3 workout set
Kick, Punch and Cruch & legs and glutes
Power Hour + maximum intensity strength & Body Max
Pyramid Lower + upper body
Bootcamp + muscle endurance
Low Impact Circuit
Body Max 2
Drill Max
Imax 2 + Cardio Weights
Butts & Guts

I paid 120 total for all of the DVD's! I now have 2 LIS and KPC, but that's okay. I can always sell them I guess.

Anyone have any problems on ebay? This was a lot sale and she said most of them were new in pkg, but some were gently used.

A fellow Catheite questioned this seller a few times about the authenticity of the DVDs and received no response. I have seen these particular DVDs, using the same picture, for sale on two separate occasions as Sahara has pointed out. In other words, I would interpret this as highly suspect. I hope we are proven wrong as I too hate to be a killjoy.

I find it odd that he has the item numbers on the items he's sold listed as private. Is he doing this so others can't quickly see what items he's sold in the past? I've never seen a private listing before.

I agree Tracey, it looks highly suspicious.

After my experience of buying a suspect Cathe DVD on eBay, I will not purchase any copyrighted material, Cathe's or otherwise, on eBay anymore.

I do not want to take the fizz out of your excitement, though. I'm sorry.

Susan,

I know what you mean! You can't even trust positive feedback as a guide to reputable sellers. Either buyers don't realize they won bootlegged material or don't care to warn others or risk retaliatory feedback by leaving negative feedback.

After getting burned on a copied Cathe dvd, I check out the seller's past sales and feedback the best I can before bidding. I also email the seller with questions such as if this is a used dvd, are you the original owner? Where did you first purchase it? etc...

Okay so what should I do?? I definately want good quality DVD's. I have been buying on ebay for years and never had a problem. I'm so sad!! The listing said some are used from yard sales and some are hers that she had previously and some are new in pkg. They have good feedback.

I have already paid with paypal...what should I do?
Jessica

Well, I just learned my lesson the hard way. I never left feedback for the seller.

Truth be told, the DVD I bought wasn't a crappy DVD and you would have a difficult time picking it out from a legit DVD. It was more the seller him/herself that made me wish I had investigated a bit more.

Don't panic! You're DVDs will probably be fine. Has she sold these DVDs before?

The thing that got me was that within MINUTES of winning my DVD, another copy of the SAME DVD went up again from the same seller. Also, she left what I called "rotational feedback" - in that she left the same three or four positive feedback comments to all her buyers. For someone who is selling maybe one or two DVDs, that doesn't fit. My feedback, since I don't sell or buy much, is always unique to each buyer/seller. For someone who sells gobs of the same DVD over and over, it seems fairly disingenuous.

Plus, my seller and the person who was shipping the actual DVD to me lived in two different states! Go figure!

Good Luck - and enjoy your new workouts! I do use my "suspect" DVD - even though I feel a little guilty when I do - LOL!

;)

I assume they have sold these dvd's before. Someone on this thread posted earlier 2 links to the same thing. I feel so stupid! I just thought it might have been someone who got out of fitness and wanted to make some money.

Wow! I recently purchased 4 Cathe Dvd's 2 from one seller and 2 from anotherI have received all and all are perfect, however, I do a lot of research and ask a lot of questions. I read the feedback for your sellers auction too little and negatives recently, I do not like all the private listings so you can not go back and see what they are selling, The location is bizarre comment, too many same listing to be finding them at a garage sale I did not find one and I am a huge garage saler. I surely hope this does not to turn out to be fraud. I just feel too many red flags for this auction. Have you had communication with the seller? I do not have Paypal so is there a way you can get refunded?

Beth I'm starting to think fraud too. I did contact the seller about an hour ago. I'm hoping they respond. Usually if you pay through paypal you can get your money back if you file a dispute. I guess I'll see what happens.

I was warned by another forum member to be careful about implying the DVDs are fakes or posting negative feedback saying so as that could be interpreted as libel. I'll e presumptuous and pass that little bit of advice on to you too.

I emailed my seller and never heard from her.

Please let us know what happens!

Susan L.G.

uh-oh susan. I emailed them and said i wanted to know if they were bootleg dvd's or not. Any way i can get paypal to give me my money back?

Jessica, I really think the seller said these things in an attempt to throw potential bidders off. If you've paid with Paypal, you can file a dispute if you don't receive (I would hold them to the shipping/delivery times in the auctions and file a dispute if the item had not arrived by the time they stated) the item and you can also file a dispute with Ebay since selling bootlegs is against Ebay policy. If Paypal won't refund your money, go to your bank or credit card company and file a dispute with them.

From what I've read, the bootleggers are getting a little more sophisticated, it used to be that just looking on the back was enough to tell (authentic DVD's are typically silver and fakes have a purplish back). Now, they're not so obvious with it. Here is a link from videofitness.com that I found helpful.

I don't know what to say to Paypal, you might say you are suspicious. I wonder why they are asking.

Tracey, that was a super post from the VF forum. The poster's story matched mine almost word for word.

My husband is in the TV biz and found the picture and sound quality of the DVD a bit suspicious. The picture 'jumps' around and the sound is on the shrill side.

The Chinese bootlegs are quite sophisticated and almost always indistinguishable (spelling?) from the real thing. I think the only people who could tell are the people who made the originals - i.e., SNM and friends.

BTW - when I first got my DVD, I emailed SNM with my suspicions and they never answered.

In China they copy and package DVDs to look like the real thing. eBay is the biggest tool that they use to sell them.

Just an update.

The seller emailed me this morning and told me that if I was unhappy, I can return the DVD's for a full refund. He said that he bought a lot of DVD's off of ebay and sells them. I saw that he bought a TON of DVD's from another lady that people on this boards says is legit.

I will get the DVD's soon, I hope, and go from there.

Thank you!
Jessica
