Light weight portable blender

Does anyone have a brand of a light weight portable blender for when you want to make shakes while away from home?

I have a stick blender but I sure don't want to carry that to work, plus the noise level.

Funny you should mention this! My DBF was just reading some stuff in Reader's Digest about informercial products. The Magic Bullet is supposed to be the best---it's a single size blender and got rave reviews. Just do a search online for Magic Bullet and you'll find a bunch of stuff. :)

I have a Magic Bullet, and use it almost every day for a breakfast smoothie. If you're concerned about the noise level, this is at least as noisy as a stick blender. One option, if you are just blending powers and liquids, and not trying to crush ice, or chop up fresh or frozen fruits, is a shaker cup. I got a set from QVC (or HSN? I can't remember which, but I think it was QVC) that you drop a round metal coil in that works like a whisk. You just shake, and all the ingredients are blended.

yowza!!!! 3 payments of $33 something? It's expensive eh? I can't see if it's battery operated though. I went to the web site and doesn't say? or does it? I wanted to mix my protein shakes and I HATE lumps. Eh!!! like tapioca in your mouth. fish eggs. nasty. spit it out.!!!!

For those 3 payments, you get 2 Magic Bullets. If you only want one, buy it through www.hsn.com . It is a plug-in blender.

That sure is a big-tadoo.

Thanks for showing me hsn.

I ended up coming home and eating waffles I am so hungry.

Tytbody,

I am interested in the same thing, I would love something to take to work and make fresh protein shakes for my lunch. I think I am just going to buy a cheap regular blender, and keep it in my locker at work. Or maybe see if anyone else wants one and go in 1/2 on a cheap one.

I saw a Kohl's ad a few weeks ago, with a magic bullet blender for $50.00-60.00 something.

:) ;-) :D :p :9 :7 :+

I recently bought a Hamilton beach blender from Target that has a to go type single serve insulated cup. I use it for my smoothies all of the time. If I am a hurry to take the grandchildren to school after my workout it is handy. It blends and everything right in the cup. I like it because I can add crushed ice in with the other ingredients. Also I can take the base and cup with me in our trailer when we go camping and leave the big glass blender container at home. Debbie what you showed is exactly like one I got with Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix once. I never thought if shaking up a drink in it.

WD or DS do you find the protein shakes have helped you get a better performance or do you feel that it's mind over matter and you could have still achieved the success you have in exercise?

sorry to ask a question in the middle of my own thread. But it does pertain to shakes and reaching my goals.

HI Debbie, I'm scared of lumps. They also make you shake for to long. This stuff is so thick, I think it really needs the higher intenstity to break it down cause once it starts to be a lump, it's a lump. LOL.

I think they are helping me to attain my goals. I add fruit & sometimes some oatmeal to them in the am post workout for some added carbs. Normally I reach an afternoon slump and this had helped alot. Also when trying to eat clean I have a hard time consuming enough calories to keep my weight up so I feel I really need these. Now I only use 1/2 scoop protein powder twice a day in addition to trying to up my protein in my meals. I still feel getting most of my nutrients from foods is the best.

Thank you. I had not thought about putting oatmeal in there also. Appreciate the thought.

So I guess you also have a few lumps in there. You were referring to the uncooked oatmeal, correct?

Tytbody!

The shaker is actually designed to take lumps out. At least it works for making gravy without lumps. The shaker has a piece of plastic that you insert before putting the lid on. (It looks like a wheel with spokes.) I am not sure how well it would work on something REAL thick but should you decide to buy one, it can be used for other recipes. Just an idea.

Actually I have done it both cooked & uncooked. If I remember to cook it ahead and put it in the refrigerator. It is a little grainy when I blend it uncooked but still tastes alright.
