Liann

{{{{{Liann}}}}} They were precious. I can't imagine how hard that must have been.

Chastity, that picture of your pookies looking out the window is adorable!

Thanks Michele :)

Liann..I can't believe that the vets office would not help you especially after you were able to keep them alive for three weeks on your own. Did they give you a reason? Do you still use their services now?

They just said that raising babies like that rarely ever works and they would not help me at all after handing them over! They gave me a stomach tube, showed me how to give them their food and that was it. I've learned so much since then. Now I know I should have worn gloves at all times when dealing with them. Everything use with them or around them should have been sterilized. I made sure things were clean, but I should have been even more vigilant like a doctor. They ended up dying because of a bacterial problem in their stomachs. It's a pretty common problem with orphaned babies and causes their tummies to bloat. They were soo close to making it when that happened. At that point, they need antibiotics, but would the vet bother with it - NO. I still get mad about it....

I'd be mad too Liann. Sounds like you did everything you could with the knowledge you had at the time. I still can't believe they didn't at least try to help you more :(

Will you try to breed Chey and Dakota again? DH and I go back and forth over neutering Tucker. He wants to stud him out but since we're not really sure how to go about finding a mate it hasn't happened yet. DH hasn't put forth much effort in finding out more. I keep telling him that we should just neuter him before he gets any older.

Oh my gosh! I'm smiling, then crying, then smiling again looking at these pictures and reading these posts.

I have just made it my life's mission to have a weinder dog. Those faces are, by far, some of the cutest I've ever, ever seen!

(((HUGS))) to you, my darlin' Michele. Siegfried was a beauty. My favorite pic is the x-mas card of Johnny and Siegfried snuggling on the couch! They're both too precious for words!!!

Well (in answer to Chastity's breeding again question), there is more to the whole puppy saga. Cheyenne was actually preggers with 5 puppies. We had just taken her in for an ultrasound (or sonogram, I always mix those up) and had seen the pictures of her 5 babies 2 weeks before they were due. Then, just a few days later she started spotting at lunch time when DH was home. He ran her to the vet and they did another test and saw that 3 of the babies were dead and Chey had an infection. We had to choose between just putting her on medicine and seeing if she could make it another week for the babies that were alive or end the pregnancies, remove the dead babies, do a full hysterectomy and try to save the other 2 if possible. I was actually told that all the babies would die if we went that route. I couldn't lose Cheyenne though and I felt like the biggest heel in the world for putting her through it in the first place. I made the call to do the operation and save Cheyenne. They managed to get the 2 babies out though alive. I went from the lowest low, to the highest high and back down again when they died. :( And poor Cheyenne had to recover from a full hysterectomy. We had Montana spayed right after that and swore we would NEVER go through all of that again. I know people have better experiences, but once you get burned, you really think twice about it.

Hey, Liann--these guys are CUTIES! However, if you post some pictures of the other 4 legged (and non-legged!) friends that live at your house! I don't think we'll be quite as impressed. LOL. ;)

I'm all for weiner dog hugs and kisses :)

Yay Allison, get a weiner dog!! I could see you with a cute little brown female doxie :)

Gosh Liann, I would have done the same thing. Chey's health was the priority. What an emotional rollercoater ride :(

My son just got home from work and we are both sitting here with big smiles on our faces. Thank you all for sharing your precious babies!

They are all just too adorable!
The wrinkles are just too cute. I just want to kiss those little faces:D:D

My son said that he hasn't met a wiener dog who doesn't turn over for a belly rub. Is that a doxie trait?

Cynthia..oh yes, the belly rub :D It's really funny b/c Tanner cracks us up all the time with this. DH and I could be in the middle of a conversation, cooking dinner, etc and Tanner will walk up to us and roll over at our feet and just lie there on his back waiting for us to rub his belly :D It's like he's trying to tell us "Hello, your not giving me your undivided attention!"
