Lexapro experiences?

letswork

Cathlete
I just started taking Lexapro as suggested by my therapist. I've had anxiety and depression for most of my life and I finally agreed to try an antidepressant.

I'm wondering if anyone out there would be willing to share their experiences (good or bad) and what I can expect from this drug. At the moment I am a little sick to my stomach, but otherwise I feel okay. I'm only taking a 1/2 pill in the morning and next week I'll start with the whole pill. When will it start working and what will it do for me?

Hello,

I've been taking Lexapro (10 mg 1/day) in combination with Wellbutrin (100 mg 2/day) for a little over three years and have never experienced negative side effects from either. Lexapro is one of the newer SSRIs and has lower reports of side effects than the others. However, it is all very individual. Some people might take Effexor, which generally has a lot of side effects, and do fine. Others might take Lexapro and do terribly. Unfortunately, it is a “wait and see” process.

I have anxiety and depression. The medications help my anxiety ever so slightly. As for depression, I have not had a severe episode since I’ve been taking them. It was a slow process, and in all honesty, it was about six months before I realized I was doing/feeling better with the meds.

PM me if you ever want to talk more about it! Best of luck. I hope it works for you; and if it doesn’t, try not to get too discouraged. There are lots of options available.

Lexapro brought me back to life. I started therapy and got on lexapro after a divorce and miscarriage. After I was on it for about 2 months it dawned on me that I hadn't felt so good in about 4 years, just before my daughter was born. I could go on forever about my experience with lexapro, but lets just say 'Life is good!'

Take it at night, just before bed. That should take care of the queziness, also it makes me tired.
Good Luck.

I started Lexapro just about 5 weeks ago and am surprised in the change I have had so far. I have been suffering from anxiety very badly. I am now so much happier and calmer. I just feel better. My doctor had me on a full pill right away plus a type of valium once a day for 2 weeks until the Lexapro kicked in. Then I went off the valium pill. It was around week 3-4 that I really noticed that " Hey, I feel happy and less stressed!". It's working for me and also for 2 other ladies I know. I wish you luck with it too - Susan
