Thanks, Deanie! I think the ab exercises in Squeeze and Pure Barre are helping. I'm feeling a lot stronger in my core and they also both have plank exercises. I'm able to get a lot higher over the bar than I was ever able to.

I think 100 is good enough. I seem to remember you got tired of doing pushups with P90X. I guess everything in moderation.

I'm thinking instead of 4DS, I might do Slow & Heavy. At least I know it's only 8 reps which I haven't done in a long time.

How was the screamer today? Any chance she behaved?

Ha Ha Ha... that is me laughing:p The screamer was in rare form today, a full 45 min. of crying!!!!!!:mad::mad: It was ruining the time for the other kids and giving myself and my asst. a big Headache!!! Wednesdays are not fun! I did try some positive reinforcement with her, but what she really needs is tough love. So we will be doing that next week!;)
You haven't done S&H in forever! You will enjoy that. Are you going to do 3 or 4 weeks of it? I think Cathe had a good rotation using S&H and PS, you might want to look into that.
 
Deanie - Sorry for all your troubles today (and it seems every Wednesday now till the end of the school year):(

I will check into that rotation. I also remember her doing that one. I might consider it a little more since I like the fact that PSs are shorter workouts and will maybe give me time for some short cardio bursts. Too much to decide!

Well, you guys are busy while I am at school and I miss all of the fun!:(
This morning I did Classical Stretch (my rest day) and tomorrow will be p/u challenge, SS and 4ds shoulders and then 4ds KB. A long workout.:p
I have a big bad stinking headache....AGAIN!:mad: I decided not to take any meds today since I took med Monday and Tuesday. Tired of this. I have run out of drs to go to in this city! Thanks for letting me vent!
Not sure what rotation I will do next...maybe Timesaver or look back to see what old rotations I enjoyed.

Deanie~ You wrote the book on pushups and can easily stop the challenge, since I know you can do 100+!!:eek:
What is going on with the screamer's home life??? There has to be some sort of big issue going on with her to make her scream so much!

Marcy~ WTG girl on the chinups! I knew you had a lot of workout videos/dvds! And my DH only THINKS I have a lot with 52.

Good Morning

Today was supposed to be CK, but I wasn't in the mood, and my shoulder is still being a little weird. So I did 45 min on the treadmill instead. It was an okay workout, I used a program I never used before and wasn't sure what level to do, and I under estimated myself. So I had to keep upping and adjusting the level. Oh well, at least I worked out :p

Gin~ sorry about the headaches. I wonder what it could be??? You have quite a workout planned today- should I say have fun? or good luck?;) At school we came up with the idea that maybe the screamer can't deal with change well and that's how she reacts to it? We also think she "rules the roost" at home. (only child, older parents)

Marcy~ Did you decide on a rotation? Now I'm thinking I may do 2 weeks of full body and then go back to the rotation I am doing now using GS. I am really enjoying the shorter weight days and less cardio. Your right- too much to decide. :) So much easier when we just follow Cathe. LOL!

Good Morning!

Quick post to say HI! I did complete pushups, SS and 4ds shoulders, B&G abs and 4ds KB...90 minutes!:p I went to bed at 7:30 last night I felt so bad with that darn headache! Then slept until 4:30....9 hours!:D
I am still struggling with the pushups. I had to go to my knees in the last 5 every round. It seems as if I am losing strength instead of gaining! Do I need to drop to level 1 now?

Gin~ don't feel bad about the pushups. I think with the heavy weight rotation we are doing, the pushups challenge is harder. (does that make sense??:eek:) You did an amazing workout today, you should be proud:D Hope you are headache free today!

I just posted in the rotations forum for Debbie, I'm thinking of doing this rotation again using GS, and I wanted her opinion. I hope she sees!:)

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning I did Tilak Pyle's Altar of the Heart -- one of my all-time favorite practices. It is so soothing and relaxing but yet sometimes I get more accomplished with the poses. It's nice that he starts you out on the floor in butterfly and slowly gets you up with some torso rotations and then a few sun salutations but not an endless amount of them and they don't all include chaturangas. I got up into headstand today on the first try but once I fell out of it, I had trouble getting back up. I think I held on for a few more seconds this time. I also did a great shoulder stand and was able to hold my hands on my thighs for most of it which used to be hard for me when I first did it with Mark Blanchard. I think you need more core strength for it which I definitely feel like I've improved on.

I also did 2 chinups and then 1 more later on.

Deanie - I printed out a few of Cathe's rotations but didn't decide on one yet. I kind of liked a June rotation (forget what year it was but I think it was from early 2000s where she only does 1 or two body parts a day and then does cardio. But I saw a post where Debbie says that if you're doing heavy lifting, you shouldn't do cardio on that day. What do you think?

I really enjoyed last month's and this month's rotation and would like to continue doing it but just feel like I need to change things up. I figure if I go back to heavy, hopefully STS will be here and I'll start back to endurance and work my way back up to heavy again to keep changing it up.

Sorry about your shoulder. Hope it's better tomorrow. It's frustrating when you do a new workout and don't know what to start with.

Gin - Thanks about my chinups! Any luck with yours? Great workout! I agree with Deanie that you might be having a hard time with the pushups because of the heavy lifting. You may just be too tired afterwards. I would say do them before but then you might be too tired to get through the rest of your workout. Too bad it's supposed to be every day. Maybe you could have just done them on cardio days before your workout. Can you just tell me again the name of the Classical Stretch workout you got? I was just on her site a little while ago and her new set consists of 4 DVDs - a 2-DVD set of Tone & Stretch and a 2-DVD set of Pure Stretch for $64.95 plus $7 s&h. A little too expensive for me right now. Her 2007 series is $49.95 and has 26 workouts.

I know what you mean about the meds. My itching is back but not as bad as in NY. I take an allergy pill so I can get some sleep but then I'm so tired the next day. I wish I knew what caused it because I haven't changed anything like detergent, soap, etc.

Let me know what you think. I have to change some of the cardio since I don't have CTX. Even though I don't like running, it might be good to change things up. I also couldn't fit Step Fit and S&H Triceps in on the same day so that's out. Have you ever done one body part a day rotations? Results?

Marcy~ Great workout, and chins :) Have you ever gotten tested for allergies? Sorry to hear your itching is back. I have done 1 body part a day, but I didn't really get results. - nothing really changed for me. Results may be different with you though...The rotation looks good if you like one body part a day: basically 1/2 hour of weights, 1/2 of cardio. I agree with Debbie with the cardio/weight on the same day thing (also the less cardio thing) but mostly because that seems to work for me. Cardio and weights on the same day, for me, lean me out. Maybe with S&H and PS though the results may be different. When I did CTX, I mostly leaned out upper body wise, but there was too much step and I gained inches in my hips from it.

Gin~ Did you see the pushup challenge was changed/modified? there are new #'s on the website. Not sure if they are harder or just different.

I've had CTX for a while (years) and I've never done the upper body premix so I am going to try it. Next month I will go back to heavy using GS.

I also am enjoying this months rotation, but 4 weeks seems to be where my attention slips and I need a new rotation.
 
Deanie - Thanks! I was tested for allergies and took allergy shots for 3-4 years in NY. I haven't taken them in about 6 months but the allergy shots are really more for outdoor allergies and mine seem to be mostly indoor.

I hear what you're saying about it leaning you out but CTX is more endurance workouts so maybe it might be okay with S&H and PS. I've never done one body part a day although I've always wanted to try.

I just made up somewhat of a rotation with S&H, PS and P90X for the last 2 weeks. I just have to figure out my cardio and a couple of leg workouts. I'm going to keep in Legs & Back for the X weeks.

I've read that many people like the UB premix on CTX. Good luck with your rotation.

Today is 4DS/SS shoulders/B&G stability ball abs and pushups. I don't think I'm going to raise my weights, since my shoulder was bothering me all week.:(

Today I ran and would like to do SS and 4ds legs when I get home. Hope I feel up to it!! Tomorrow is run/walk (4 miles??) with my other running friends and Classical Stretch.

Deanie~Sorry I didn't post at all yesterday. I am getting home about 4:30 and checking in (by phone) with my mother to see how they are (still no power) and making dinner, etc. I did read the posts, though!:p I have had headaches everyday this week, but took meds yesterday.
I like your October rotation...thanks. I may tweak a little bit. I am thinking about buying Pyramids on dvd from advancedworkout.com so I'll have that one on dvd.

Marcy~I bought the Athletic stretch from Classical Stretch. This is what Pennie said she used and recommended.

Good Afternoon!

Sorry for posting so late. Got somewhat busy today.

This morning I did a 30 mins. upper body premix from Amy's Slo-Mo. Pretty good workout.

Back - Lying Rows on Ball (Tracey and Patrick do these too - I'm surprised Cathe never did them) - 13# for all 3 sets - varying counts 4-4 and up 2, hold 2 and down 4. Probably could've gone to 15#

Shoulders - Overhead Press with Bbl - 38.2# (Amy used 40#) - Same rep count as above with 4 reps 4-4 ct, and 4 reps 2-2-4 count5
Set 1 - didn't do last rep of 2-2-4 ct
Set 2 - only did 1 rep of 2-2-4 ct (I guess this was too heavy a weight for me)

Chest - Incline Overhead Bench Press - except your head is lower than your feet - really gives this exercise a whole different feel - 38.2# (same counts as above - did all reps)

Bicep Bonfire - Amy used 8# - I started with 8# on the 1st set and went up to 10# for sets 2 and 3 - I forget now if the step was like the incline for chest or if it was the normal way with head higher) but you curl up, down, then bring elbows together and go back out

Triceps - this is the one I felt the most - Pushdown with band (she wraps a towel around the band to cushion your neck) and it's like doing a double arm kickback. Used my heavy band on this.

I know this is supposed to be a heavy weight workout but she did a lot of reps for back (even though they were slow) and some of these exercises really don't let you go too heavy. I like the workout though.

Then I went on to do the Combat Intervals from Kimberly Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing. I wasn't able to do the last interval because I ran out of time. This was a little difficult for me to do since I only had the bar from my barbell and it's 12.6#. My last EZ curl bar was only 10#. Also, this bar was longer than my other bar so between the weight and the length, it wasn't so easy. Kim suggests only using a 9# body bar, tops. (That's another thing to add to my equipment wish list).

I also did 2 3/4 chinups.

Deanie - Hope your shoulder gets better soon. I decided not to do the 1 body part a day. I really want to go heavy and took yours and Debbie's advice not to do cardio on weight days. So I think I'm going to do S&H for two weeks and P90X for two weeks. I will insert barre workouts for S&H Legs.

Gin - Athletic Stretch looks good. It's on my wish list (along with a bunch of other stuff) but I'm really trying not to buy any more workouts at the moment although I don't know how long that will last. There are a bunch of yoga practices that I want and some other barre workouts that people are raving about over at VF.

Sorry to hear your mom's still without power. You said she had a generator though, right?

Hi again!

Marcy~ I think you will be happier with doing cardio and weights on different days for what you want. The decline chest press sounds interesting... I like that you are doing P90X for 2 weeks. I never thought to do that. I liked the first 3 weeks workouts a lot, maybe I should/could revisit that one month again one day....

Gin~ I think the pyramids are worth having. (Not to be an enabler or anything ;)) I hope you got your workout in this evening. I think for legs tomorrow, I am going to do the lower body blast on SS. It looks good! And I will have to try my pushups tomorrow too, I was late this morning and didn't do them. I do think they are interfering with the heavy weight work. (taking away from the work). Anyway, i am having a love affair with my treadmill and may do HIIT tomorrow:eek: if I have time!! (the lower leg blast is only 33 min.- but DS12 is having a sleep over here and DH is going to work early- so not sure how much time I will have in the a.m.) Are you going to join me in the rotation next month?

Good Morning Gals

Today was SuperSets lower body premix- 4 lower body excersises 3X. A fun leg workout that I've never done! I really like how versitile the SS and PP is with all the premixes! I never got on the treadmill, ran out of time: I had 3 boys running around upstairs, and I wanted to get them settled!:p

Gin~ Did you get your workout in yesterday?

Marcy~ Now that you've been at your job for about 2 weeks, how is it? I hope you are enjoying it:D

Off to watch DS8 play soccer! He won his first game last week, so he is saying they are undefeated!!LOL And they are ;)

I don't know if I am going to continue the pushup challenge. I feel like I've already done 124 last fri and today, and 114 monday so why am I continueing? I'm sure I'll be able to keep up with Cathe (or close to) on STS, so I don't know why I would continue. I may do a test tomorrow and see how many I can do nonstop, and then make a final decision about whether to continue or not.....

Good Morning!

Today I met with my former running friend and we ran/walked 5 miles. She is just starting to run again and we are wanting to train for the Cowtown Half Marathon in Feb. She set her watch for a 2 min walk and 2 min. run. We used to run together twice a week for years, but it has been a while and it was great to get together. I'm doing Classical Stretch in a minute. I need to buy new running shoes today. And I am going to order the Pyramids today. Going to a football game tonight.
I let a friend (a very trustworthy friend) borrow KPC and I think she is enjoying it. She has a 50th b-day coming up and I think I'm going to order KM to give her. She wanted to try cardio only and no step workouts.
My parents have power again...yeah!

Deanie~Glad you found the SS premix. Good to know about. I've never done that one.
I did do SS and 4ds legs last night at 7:30!! DH joined me (that was a first!!) for a couple of the exercises.:eek:
How was ds's soccer game?
I think I will do the October rotation with you, but may tweak it a bit.
Okay, Miss Deanie, I think you are the official winner of the pushup challenge and IMHO if you try to see how many you can do, you will be doing pushups into next week!!!:eek: Now, me on the other hand......:(

Yes, my parents had a generator, but only had it plugged in in the day. It is in the garage and they had to keep the back door open b/c of the plug. They could plug in the fridge and 1 fan, but only in the day. Microwave didn't work. They have power now!:)
