Good Morning Ladies~ Hope that you hadn't already started the new thread and I just didn't see it, Deanie!
Today I started the 3rd week of the pushup challenge, but it was too much for me, so I wonder if I should go back to week 2 or if I should drop down to level 2? I had to go to my knees for the last 3 in every round. It was a jump from 69+ (last week) to 98+(today).
Then I did SS and 4ds chest and back. This afternoon I will do Classical Stretch and Clean Max.
I talked to my brother last night and he is thinking about driving down from Houston with his boys to stay here. Everyone is without power and the city is a mess with uprooted trees, limbs and debris everywhere. Although Galveston is worse.:(

Off to get ready for church.
Waves to Marcy and Deanie!!:D

Good Afternoon

Today is a rest day for me:)

Gin~ Sorry to hear about your brother!! I think for the pushup challenge you are supposed to retake the test to see where you are for week 3, then take it from there. Either way, go back to week 2 or go to level 2 should be okay. Thanks for starting the thread today!

Waves to Marcy!!

Good Morning gals

Today is 4DS chest and back, pushups and chinups/pullups. I am going to try and up my weights today, happy with 4 chins/pulls so don't know if I will do more.

I will try to check in later with an update,

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Okay, workout done, all weights upped but the chest press I kept at 65#. I will raise that next week. I did all the pushup challenge pushups and the pushups in chest and back. This week for the challenge we are doing over 100 pushups each day, so I'm not sure why we have to go to week 6 to do the 100 pushup challenge. Does that make sense? For my first round of chins and pulls I did 4 each, at the end of the workout I did another round and could only eek out 3 chins and 3 pulls:eek:!

Gin~ Hope all is well with your brother and parents. How was your workout today?

Marcy~ I hope you had a nice weekend. What's on tap for today?

Have a rockin' day:cool:

Good Morning Girsl!

Today I did C&W abs and ran. It was 62 degrees this morning!:) Very nice temp to run in. This aft I will do SM#2.

Deanie~You are incredible with the pushups!! I certainly skippped all of the pushups in the workout after I struggled so with the challenge yesterday. I will drop down to level 2 tomorrow.:( Maybe I should have been there in the first place! Yeah to your chins and pulls. I forget to do those since I have to go down to the basement.
My parents still have no power, but can run the refrigerator and 1 fan with the generator during the day. The only damage was a tree limb that fell on their roof and went through the sheet rock. School is closed for my nephews.
Do you have to deal with the screamer today?

Hi Marcy! What is on tap today?

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

Today was Full Squeeze again. I managed to get through the 1st shoulder segment and biceps without a rest. Only used 3# for shoulders but went up to 8# on biceps. Back down to 3# for rest of upper body work. I feel like a wimp next to you guys - Squeeze only has 16 pushups - 8 with a 2-2 ct and 8 singles with an extra 4 count hold at the bottom. Also did 2 3/4 chinups. I feel like I'm getting closer to 3 in a row.

Weekend workouts: Sat: All Combo NRG premix from Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme (36:31). I did pretty good with the combos but not perfect since there was no breakdown but I worked up a good sweat. It included core work with planks and supermans on step. Also did 1 pullup and 2 chinups and mowed the lawn.

Sun: 2 3/4 chinups; another set of 1 3/4 chinups; a pullup in hammer curl position (never did this way before) - don't know if I'm describing it right but there are 2 handles sticking out so your palms would be facing each other when holding the handles. This kind of pullup was tough. Also did another 3/4 close grip pullup and 3/4 chinup.

In the evening were west coast swing lessons. This was a "Beyond the Basics" class. Instructor was trying to get us to do more freestyle stuff when the partner wasn't leading you.

Gin - DWTS starts next Mon. Can't wait! Biggest Loser starts tomorrow night. Allergies aren't too bad but for some reason I got a rash again on my chest like when I had my intense itching sessions. Don't know what caused it but I hope it goes away again soon. I'm glad your family's okay. Did your brother have any property damage? At least your parents have a generator.

69 - 98 pushups sounds pretty good to me! Hope you like Classical Stretch.

Deanie - Great work on the chins/pulls!

Marcy

Deanie -

Tuesday--

Good Morning Gals

Today is a run on the treadmill. I am leaning toward 45 min. steady state. I haven't done steady state onn the treadmill....ever?!! and then sm#3. Yesterday i used a 30# dumbell for lat pullovers and I think I pulled something in my shoulder. It was bothering me all last night (up every 2 hours) and this morning. think I will take some motrin later....:( My biceps are sore again too, must be the chinups? Boy I'm a mess this morning!!:p ;)

Gin~ Glad your parents are basically alright. Not to bad, considering... No screamer on Monday- I have her on Wednesday. She was in my friends class yesterday afternoon. She screamed and cried and no one paid atten. to her, so she wet her pants!!! I am dreading Wednesday!!!

Marcy~ GREAT JOB with the chins/pulls I am jealous. :)I don't think I could eek out one pullup!! (I've been sticking with the negitives)

Have a great day!!
Oh yeah, we have a 4 month reprieve to see if DS12 needs braces. The ortho wants to see us in 4 months, there is a 50/50 chance. We are hoping NO!!

Good Morning Ladies!

This morning I did CIA 2203 - Strike Zone with Terri Reeves. I got this with the CIA giveaway and want to try getting through all the rest of my virgin workouts. This one was okay although I always felt like she was on the wrong side or didn't complete both sides and she started out on my left foot and didn't mirror cue. She definitely had a lot of energy. There were combos and short bursts of plyometrics. She was doing plie jacks with a ballet move in between (Deanie remember entrechechat) but I couldn't get my legs to cross front AND back. It's been awhile since I did that move. The best part I liked about the workout was the stretch -- it incoprorated a lot of balance moves and I felt she stretched me out more than the normal stretches in DVDs. There was also core work - slow bicycles, rollups, roll up into boat pose and hold, split-leg crunches and kind of frog crunch. Just about an hour for the workout. There are two other workouts on the DVD which I still have to try. I also did 2 3/4 chinups again. When am I ever going to get to 3???

Have you guys thought about next month's rotation? I'm thinking about going heavy again. Possibly Slow & Heavy and maybe Pure Strenth and/or Gym Styles. I think she has a rotation using all of these. Everyone's been talking about pushups and them helping with cut arms, strong core and strength so I think I have to start doing a lot more than I've been doing. I've also been considering doing only a month's worth of P90X since it's got plenty of pushups, pullups and is heavy.

Deanie - Hope your shoulder gets better soon. At least you have one more day of rest until the screamer returns. Maybe do some relaxing yoga tonight or tomorrow to destress yourself. Pullups definitely are harder than chinups - I think because pullups are all back muscles and chinups use biceps and back. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your DS doesn't need braces. I lucked out with my kids. I unfortunately had to have them.

Gin - How's your family doing? Did your brother come down to stay with you? What's your workout today?

Have a great day!

Marcy

Good Afternoon

My DS made the softball team!!!!!:D:):):D
Very excited!!!

Anywhoo....

Marcy~ Great job on the chins/pulls! You will get to three!! maybe when you go heavy it will help...I was planning on doing another endurance full body rotation next. I will post it later. The ortho said he didn't need braces unless he wanted straighter teeth (cosmetic reasons only) Right now we opted for no braces....

Gin~ I hope you are having a nice day at school!

Deanie - Congrats to your DS! If DS feels good about the way his teeth look, then I would leave it alone for now. He can always do it later on if he wants to.

Do you find you get better results with total body or splits?

Gin - Forgot to ask -- how was Classical Stretch yesterday?

Marcy

May want to switch day 6 and 7 and do cardio on Fridays.
Treadmill options: HIIT, fat burner for 45 or 60 min. or Cathe’s treadmill workout…
Could do PH and MM in a supersets method using mix and match.???

this is what I will be doing next month unless I like Cathe's rotation she posts better. I know its not what you were looking for Marcy, but there are lots of pushups in it.... Gin, are you in?

another option for me would be to use the GS series like I'm doing for this rotation:
GS chest and back
cardio
GS bi/tri
cardio
GS shoulders
GS legs (might sub for this though)
(might combine shoulders and legs and add an extra cardio day????)

Any thoughts???

Deanie - I guess I have exercise ADD because I can't do the same workout 3x in one week. More power to you! Rotation looks good though.

Actually, I really liked Patrick's Hard Core Conditioning which is more endurance and I might be able to do his 2x a week.

I was also just thinking about doing 4DS and yoga on the 5th day. This way I get more cardio in. After doing the last two month's rotations, I realize I definitely need more cardio to keep the body fat and weight down. (I know that's different than what I've said in the past but this seems to be what's working for me now). That may be week 1 or for a couple of weeks. I'll have to go searching or make up one of my own. I've really been enjoying all the kickboxing I've been doing.

Marcy~ (we posted at the same time!:))
Not sure what I get better results from, splits or full body, but I want to try endurance for a while. My arms used to be more cut, and I think its from the endurance. I also have lost inches with eating more following fitday. I have been seeing results lately, but I also have been refining the way I eat the last couple of months, so I'm not sure which has given me the results - the eating or the weight work. Mixing it up has got to be good though.... Does that all make sense????LOL

Okay, too funny, we posted at the same time again!!!LOL:D:):D

I am doing 4DS now, so I don't want to do it again next month.

Deanie - Congrats on your results! I think I'm leaning towards 4DS for weeks 1 and 3 and P90X for Weeks 2 and 4. I might switch up some of the 4DS cardio since I've done a lot of kickbox from that (not that I don't love it - it's one of her best workouts but as I said I have EADD). Legs & Back from P90X really works for me since it's non-weighted and I can work on my pulls/chins. I'm also not doing Plyo X. It was okay but it doesn't have a fun factor for me. I did it pretty much through the X to see how much my endurance improved.

I have next week and then I'm done with this month's rotation. I might take an extra week just to do what I feel like without following a rotation but I'll see when the rotation's over.

Hi Girls!
This is the first chance I've had today to post. I had a dr's appt after school and then I couldn't get on the internet.
I did pushup challenge level 2, week 3, then SS and 4ds bis and tris. I STILL had trouble with the p/u challenge!! It seems that I have not gained any strength and can't go beyond doing about 70 p/u (with breaks)!
Tomorrow I will do Classical Stretch again (rest day) b/c Saturday I will run/walk with my former marathon friends. We are thinking about training for a longer distance.
My brother had talked about driving here with my nephews to stay with us, but changed his mind. The schools are closed until next week, my family is still without power, but my brother has power at his office now so he can work.

Deanie~How is your shoulder? Hope it feels better soon!:(
Congrats to your ds on making the softball team!:)
Like Marcy said, you can always decide on braces for ds later. I have one tooth in the back that is turned and it bothers me. I never had braces and the ortho told me as a child that the tooth wouldn't show, but I see it in pics when I smile real big!:(
Thanks for coming up with the October rotation. I might use it or tweak it a little.

Marcy~Just how many workout dvds do you own??;)
I like the Classical Stretch tape. I'm hoping that I will become more limber after doing it 2-3 days a week. I guess I'm doing it now instead of yoga.
Are you planning to add more cardio next month? I truly don't know what works best for me b/c I rarely see results!

YIKES it's late and past my bedtime. Tomorrow is my early day at school so I may not be able to post in am.

Wednesday

Good Morning

Today is 4DS/SS bi and tri and the pushup challenge. My shoulder is feeling better today, and should be fine by shoulder day. (whew) :)

Gin~ Don't be discouraged with the p/u's. 70 with breaks is still great! remember when you did them on your knees???:) Enjoy your rest day.

Marcy~ What's on the schedule today? Are you rethinking taking the pushup challenge? I never did think of a chinup/pullup challenge.... oh well...:p

Have a great day....

Hi again

Upped almost all my weights (still doing the bicep curls at 35#, but it was easier this week) and did my pushups. I am really enjoying this rotation, I may do it one more week, just to finish it and my pushup challenge at the same time.

I actually rested the full one minute today before doing my last set of pushups. (I did do 30 for my max though;))

Have a great day

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Today I did Pure Barre. I used 8# and 5# for arm sections. I think she does less reps than in Squeeze so I'm able to go heavier. My left leg only quivered slightly this time. Other than that, I got through it without a problem. I also did the Merengue Workout from Lisa Nunziella's 5-Day Latin System. Fun, fast 22-min. cardio workout. I'm finding low impact workouts suit me much better and keep my body fat down.

Drum roll please.... I did 3 chinups in a row today! Then I did another set of 2 3/4. I think I've been trying to do some everyday which must be helping.

Gin - I think I have about 150 DVDs/VHS but probably close to or more than 200 actual workouts since I have multiple workouts on some DVDs/VHS. I agree with Deanie - 70 pushups with breaks is still great. After all, Cathe does 72 in GS with breaks. I think all of us were very happy when we got through all 72 and I know it took me a long while. I guess since I'm going back to splits, I'll do 1-2 cardio workouts a week in addition to my dancing twice a week.

Deanie - I don't think I want to do the pushup challenge. I'd rather just do them in the actual workouts. Do you do only the standard traditional pushup or do you do various kinds? One thing I did like in P90X was all the different kinds of pushups which made it less boring. I don't think you necessarily have to come up with a chinup/pullup challenge but just be sure to do them every day and I'm sure you'll see results.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Yea!!! Marcy!! Great job with the chinups!!!:):D:)

Marcy~ I actually wish i hadn't started the pushup challenge myself. I'm not sure if its hurting or helping with my heavy weight workout. I think on Sunday when I do the test, if I do 100, I'm going to stop the challenge. Its funny you mention the changing of the pushups, I was just thinking today about mixing it up. But then I wouldn't be doing 100 standard pushups. i may mix it up on fri. for fun though;)
