Hi Girls!

Today I did HSC. I had not done that one in several months. She moves so fast.:p

Deanie~Hope you enjoy the Empire State kb dvd.
Good suggestion to wait until after Christmas to buy fitness gear on sale.
Do you think I should do only 2 circuits workouts a week because it is too much cardio? I could do 2 circuits and 1 kettlebell workout, but isn't kb cardio too? I need to get the kb exercises down first.

Marcy~How were the cha cha lessons?

Hope you both had a good weekend and Thanksgiving break. It's back to school tomorrow for me.

Hey Gin! Yes, I think you should only do circuits 2 days a week because otherwise it is too much cardio. I would do 2 circuits and 1 full body workout- add on the kb tutorial at the end of the workouts for 2 weeks. Then I would switch and do 2 circuits and 1 kb workout. The kb workout is cardio, but a different kind so you should be okay. I am assuming you will be running 3 days a week and you don't want to do cardio 6 days a week!!!!

Today was a rest day for me. I did laundry max, clean the shower max and make dinner max!!

waves to Marcy!

Manic Monday

Good Morning

Today was PUB. Stats in a moment. I had a really good workout and think I will use the same weights next week, except chest, I will up with a plate mate. No abs today:)

back:
pullovers: 15,20,25,30
double arm row: (db) 15,20,25,30

Gin~ how far did you run today? Is it cold there in the mornings?

Marcy~ I hope you had a wonderful weekend. how were the cha cha lessons?

How are you gals enjoying your kb???

Have a great day,
Will try to bbl,

Good Morning!

Today I did Step Fit instead of run because I have to take my car in early to the collision shop to repair the back bumper. Someone ran into me a few weeks ago. I had forgotten how much easier SF is than some of Cathe's usual step routines! A nice change.:)
Meeting after school and then dinner with friends tonight.

Deanie~ Great workout today! You know me, I like my cardio!;) But, I'll listen to you and do one full body weight day. I need to do the kb tutorial again!

Hi Marcy! How are you?

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Really busy today. Did Squeeze this morning. Haven't decided on a rotation yet this month. I want to do KBs but need to look at a few videos/articles on form because I don't want to get hurt.

Yesterday DH was getting the attic cover out so we could get Xmas decorations down out when the ladder slipped out from under him and he hurt his shoulder. Then I had to go climb around the attic and get things down. It pays to be small sometimes.

I took my measurements today. I don't have them in front of me but I think I lost 1/2'-1" off hips but gained in waist and thighs. I have to admit I ate too much chocolate last month. We had so much leftover Halloween candy and I couldn't resist. Thank goodness we're at the bottom of the bowl!

Deanie - Thanks for the e-mail. I printed out all the routines. Which KB tutorial are you talking about? I have the instructional DVD with Sarah Lurie but it's only got 5-7 exercises on it.

Gin - Enjoy your dinner tonight.

Marcy

Good Afternoon

Marcy~ I mean the go fit dvd that came with the kb when I say the tutorial. Have you seen fitness freaks Dec. rotation? I like it, but i want to do my kb so I just bookmarked it for later.

Gin~ Enjoy your dinner out!

Here is a good website with good kb routines.
http://charmcitykettlebells.blogspot.com/
and here is one with a lauren brooks routine: go to the article about training like a man if you are a woman, and there is a kb routine for 3 days a week there....
www.bodybuilding.com/fun/lbrooks.htm
hope they work....

What do you girls think of the new STS clip? I like it, but it hasn't pushed me over.... I'm still on the fence.
I haven't gotten my dvd yet, so my brother is calling today, I'm waiting to find out the outcome and keeping my fingers crossed.....

Hi Again!

Deanie - Thanks for the links. I wasn't bowled over by the clip either. I was disappointed that I didn't see any back exercises in the clip, only biceps. I feel like I could do my own STS workouts with what I already have. It seems very P90X-ish and frankly, the P90X style of lifting seems to suit me better. I'm really anxious to see Meso 3 as that it what most interests me.

Are you adding the KB tutorial on to your strength workouts or at the end of the cardio workouts?

Marcy

when I was doing the tutorial, I added it onto the weight days.

I wasn't thrilled either and was thinking "I could use PS in the same way" (for drop sets) and I could use the pyramids for the double wave loading (which I actually am, if I am reading the definition correctly) the only thing keeping me from cancelling,is its already paid for. I am wondering not only...if I will use it, but if I do, will I use it more than once....I also am wondering if I have P90X do I need STS. Actually, I like useing 4DS premixes for an P90X rotation.......

I can't believe it, but my brother emailed AOS this morning and still hasn't heard from them. If he cancels the order (which I don't blame him) I am going to cancel STS and use that money to buy some kb dvds....I bought the kb and like it, and I really want some dvds to follow. (they did ship my Empire State dvd. so I at least have one)

Good Morning!

Today I did BM2 C&W without the cardio. It ended up to be 45 min of upper body and abs. I'm not sure I had ever tried that premix, but it was good for a change and would be fun with the cardio too. It's 70 min. with cardio included. Then I did SM#1. My back has been bothering me.:(

Deanie~I watched the STS clip last night and I liked it. I guess I am in the minority here!:p I guess you could always use it once and then sell it if you didn't like it. I'm sure you could sell easily. Hope your dvd gets to you!

Marcy~Are you thinking of getting just meso 3? Or can you buy just one set like that?

Have a great day!

Good Morning

I got a late start this morning, it was so hard to wake up!!!
I did CTX 10-10-10 and my own abs mishmosh. I forgot how intense 10-10-10 is. I really enjoyed it and I did the step portion on an 8" step. For my abs I did 1 min of a straight arm plank on the ball, 1 min of a bent arm plank on the ball (hard!!) then I followed 4DS kickbox abs for the in and outs and split leg crunches for the 2 sets she does, 1 arm side plank for a minute on each side, and then did the pikes on the ball from PUB (pikes for 12, lift each leg for a count of 8- 4 pikes on ball, lift each leg for a count of 4) I really enjoyed the abs mish mosh and may do it again. I really felt the ab work on the ball.

Gin~ Fun workout, I've never done that premix. I'm glad you like STS. I'm just not sure, after doing the kb, that I'm going to want to go back to doing isolating muscle work... I'm So confused:confused:   LOL!;)

Marcy~ Did you see my posts from yesterday afternoon? What did you do today? To be honest, between you and I, I think we could come up with a good version of our own STS...yet why is it so hard for us to just cancel???:D LOL!!

Have a great day!!
BBL~

Good Afternoon!

Another busy day here. This morning I did the Firm's Cardio Dance Fusion (1st time). Lots of fun. Kept my HR up the whole time. Great for a 45 mins. workout. Easy to follow. Good yoga stretches in the cooldown.

Deanie - Yes, I saw your posts from yesterday. If we just did ME, Pyramids and S&H, it sounds like STS to me! After reading the Lauren Brooks article, she really gets you convinced KBs are the way to go.

So sorry your DVD didn't come yet. Not very good CS.:( Are you happy with Empire State?

I'll have to try the bent arm plank on the ball.

Gin - I don't think she's selling the mesos separately at the moment but may in the future. I liked the Bonus legs but it's so much like other DVDs combined. I'm still interested in Ab Circuits though and would really love to see a clip of that. I probably could get trades for STS if I kept it but I think it would be hard to get KB DVDs for trade. I haven't seen many (if any) trading their KB DVDs. I'm glad you like STS. I hope it works for you. I still like the push/pull method like in P90X and I don't think Cathe's going to be rotating body parts. I'll have to look over all the posts of the different DVDs again to see. I also like doing compound moves so I think KBs will work for me.

Isn't that the bootcamp premix on BM2? If it is, I've done it and really liked it. I hope your back gets better soon.

Finally saw the DWTS finale. I wasn't surprised at the winner but was surprised Lance came in 3rd. I think his freestyle hurt him.

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Hi Again!

We are getting dvr today. Yeah! I know we are the last to have this, but I am excited. Now I can record shows and zip through the commercials.
I bought a pair of Cathe's weighted gloves at Academy after school today after seeing htem on the STS clip yesterday. Usually when I want to go up in weight just 1-2 lbs. I try to lift my ankle weights WITH the dbbls. This will make it easier. And they were cheaper at Academy than cathe.com.

Deanie~Good and TOUGH abs workout you came up with this morning!! WTG!

Marcy~I used to have all of the Firm tapes and loved them....until I met Cathe. I got rid of all of my Firms, but now kind of wish I had kept some. Oh well. Glad you liked Dance Fusion.
The Boot Camp premix is a little different. She does a Power Circuit segment(step, blast, legs) upper body part, abs portion, repeat. C&W has the step combos then 2 upper body parts, repeat with all of the abs at the end.
Glad you finally saw the DWTS finale. I agree that Lance's freestyle hurt him. I didn't care for it, but thought he was a better overall dancer than Warren.

Wednesday already=0

Good Morning

Today was PLB. I am really enjoying this using the vest and dbs and doing the 6 reps system. A much more enjoyable workout.

My brother spoke to AOS and they swear they sent out the dvds and I should have them by today or tomorrow. We'll see....I;'m trying not to be to excited, so if they don't come I won't be dissappointed.

Gin~ You are not the last to get dvr. We dont have it. Enjoy! I wish we did have it. I'm sure the gloves will be great! How are you doing with the kb?

Marcy~ fun workout yesterday! Hope you aren't too busy today. Someone, I think it was Vee? put together a "faux" STS using other Cathe tapes. I would be interested to see it. Once I get a kb dvd, I will be making my decision about STS.

Have a great day!!

Hi!

Quick post to say I did BB's Level 3 yoga today for my rest day. I also did a few of the kb exercises without the kb. My back is still bothering me and I am afraid to use the kb right now.:(

I'll have to take a look at Vee's "faux" STS this aft.
Staff holiday party after school today.

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies!

Got out of bed a little late this morning so I wound up doing Push/Pull (probably my favorite total body of Cathe's -- it used to be Muscle Max but I actually like PP better and Supersets is pretty good too). I love all the exercises on the ball. I really wish Cathe would make a Push Pull 2. I thought STS was going to be like this but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I did everything except the BBL squats and leg presses. Here are my stats:

Deadlifts - 43#
Static lunge elevated - 10#
Bench Press - 20# dbbls
Deadrows - 43# (probably could've gone to 45#)
1 arm rows - 28#
Front raises on ball - 13#
Rear Flyes on ball - 10#
Kickbacks - 8#

Also did 2 chins.

My tris were hurting me from Squeeze on Monday so I went a little light today.

I plan on doing yoga tomorrow and KBs on Friday.

I got a compliment today at work - one of the women was talking about not being motivated to go to the gym and she was saying how she wasn't satisfied with her body and then said she wished she had a body like mine. It really felt good to hear that.

I'm also going to check out Vee's "faux STS" rotation.

Deanie - I really hope you get your DVD tomorrow. Are you happy with Empire State or did you not get that either (is that supposed to be coming with the other DVD?)

Gin - Congrats on getting TIVO! Your life will forever be changed. It saves me so much time. Also congrats on getting weighted gloves. It sounds like a good idea and a lot less clumsy than holding on to an extra weight.

I only have one other FIRM - Super Cardio Mix - which my DH actually got me years ago. It's not bad but not as intense as Cathe. I gave away FIRM Strength and FIRM Cardio. They did absolutely nothing for me.

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Hi again

Marcy~ I love pp and ss!! What a nice completement from your co-worker!!:D Nothing like hearing something like that to make your whole week!! I did get my The Empire State dvd today:D:):D it was shipped monday, so I'm thinking I'm not going to get Providence/Newport anytime soon. I think the woman was lying to my brother. There was no way they shipped on Sat and it hasn't gotten here yet:mad: but now I'm not as angry because I do have another dvd to do:)

Gin~ sorry about your back:( Ihope you have fun at the party today!

I think we would have to do a search to find Vee's faux rotation. I do remember reading it and her saying she got great results. If I have time later I may do a search..... If one of you girls find it first, please post it and I will do the same:)

later!

Good Morning!

Today was C&W...fun! I'll be singing Buttercup all day!
My back is still hurting more than usual!:(

Deanie~I looked for Vee's faux STS rotation and couldn't find anything. Did you try the Empire State dvd today?

Marcy~Yeah for the nice compliment you received!!:D I am excited to have the dvr, but now I don't know what I want to record! Or when I would watch it! I had The Firm Super Cardio Mix and it was pretty good. But, I did get rid of them all. The toughest Firm I had was Standing Legs and I would have kept it, but someone must have borrowed it and never returned.:(

Have a great day!

Good Morning

Today was 20 min on the elliptical. I did a program with hills so it was kinda like intervals. Then I did stretch max #3. I previewed my new dvd and it looks good. It also has a fun feature where you can mix up the workout. I will be doing it tomorrow with my 20# kb. It also comes with a second dvd with a Manmaker workout on it- looks intense!! It also has a joint mobility section which I am going to do first as a warm up.

I also searched for Vee's rotation and couldn't find it. We may have to ask on the OD forum. I know I've seen it!! <-- frustrated, not mad!;)

Gin~ C&W- fun! Sorry about your back. Have you tried a heating pad?

Marcy~ What's on the yoga of the day? For tomorrow, are you going to just do the tutorial, or a routine with the kb?

Have a great day gals!!
BBL

Good Afternoon Ladies!

I did Deb Dobbins' Spirit of Vinyasa Flow today. Really good practice (I did the 2nd practice on the DVD - 71 mins. filmed outside). This is done via voiceover. It has no shoulderstand, arm balances or core work but it was a great practice nonetheless. I felt really open in my hips after this. She does quite a few balancing poses - half moon, warrior 3, big toe pose to the front, royal dancer's pose. She also does headstand in this one with a few leg variations. Managed to do headstand for a few seconds.

After reading about why we should be doing interval cardio on OD (there were a bunch of articles by Rachel Cosgrove explaining why steady state is a waste of time), I've decided to do a whole new rotation. I hope this works for me. I really haven't had any fat loss and guess what - I've been doing all steady state stuff lately (basically because it's my favorite kind of cardio) but I need to start working more efficiently so here's what I came up with:

Mon - KBs and intervals (either KM Blasts or IMAX blasts)
Tuesday - Yoga
Wednesday - KBS and intervals
Thursday - Yoga
Friday - KBs and intervals

and of course, I'll still be dancing twice a week. I'll actually be doing more of everything - strength, cardio and yoga and will hopefully get stronger and leaner in the process.

Gin - Anything you normally watch, you can get a season pass for and then you won't have to worry about recording it again. Anytime you do record something, it might give you suggestions as to other things you might like to record. Once you get started, it's not hard to fill it up quickly. We have two recorders, one in the bedroom and one in the family room. The bedroom one is always about 85% full, the one downstairs about half full.

I always get Buttercup in my head too after doing C&W. I hope your back gets better soon. Have you done any stretch DVDs for it?

Deanie - I'm so jealous you have your DVD already;) Truly, I'm real happy for you. I hope Providence comes soon. I'm thinking of either getting Providence or Lauren Brook's DVD (also, it's cheaper). totalfitnessdvds has it for 34.99 and she has a 10off code for VFers and I think it's free shipping for anything over $19.

Maybe you could PM Vee and she could send it to you?

Have a great day!
