lEt'S gO---->dEcEmBeR 14-20

Thanks Marcy~ that's what I was thinking too(25# kb). I don't know if or how long it will take me to finish though ;) I may start with the 25, and drop to the 20. I've looked at Lauren Brooks's dvd, but for some reason, her hair and voice really bother me!! I definitely think we will have enough to keep us busy for a while.:D So I'm thinking you bought The Empire State? Is your cc smokin'? LOL ;)

Hi Gin! Where are you? Miss you!

Deanie - Yes, my CC is definitely smokin! I'll be ordering Empire State shortly. Good luck with the 25#! My back's still a little sore but I'm going to attempt to do Providence again tomorrow. I could probably use 25# for swings and 1-arm rows but I think I'm fine with 20# for everything else.

Hi Girls!
I have missed talking to you all also! Sorry I been have missing lately. It is so tough for me to get in a workout and post in the am. I'll be out for the next 2 weeks after tomorrow...yeah!:)
This week has been:
Sun--SJP
Mon--4ds KB (too cold to run)
Tues--ME
Wed--yoga
Thurs--LIC
Fri--will be 3 miles run
Sat--7 miles run
Plus I have done lots of stretching with Classical Stretch and Egoscue Pain Free Workout.

I am hoping to get in some kb and 1 rms over the break. I am WAY behind you guys with the kb workouts!

Just got my Cathe cardio gloves in the mail today. Not sure why they are called cardio. They look like lifting gloves to me. Also I think my DH ordered pace weights for me!:D

Marcy~I have a Janis Saffell kickbox dvd. Have only done it once though. How was your breathing today?

Deanie~You aren't out until the 23rd? How long is your break? Has Hanakah (sp?) started yet? I haven't decided whether I should order CTX yet. I wish it weren't quite so much $! Or I could try it out first. Too bad NetFlix doesn't have Cathe's workouts!;)

I have a party to go to in a minute with the teachers from my old school. They were sweet to include me. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Take care!
Gin

Finally Friday!!!!=)

Happy Friday gals!!

Today was Providence. Used my 25# bell for most/some of the exercises. I wasn't able to complete all the rounds, but I am sticking with the 25#er.

Round 1: swings ~ 25#

Round 2: cleans ~ 25#

Round 3: chest presses ~ 25#

Round 4: squats/sumo Deadlift ~ 25#

Round 5: one leg Deadlift ~ 25# (I thought these were easier with the heavier weight- I felt more balanced)

Round 6: windmills into an overhead squat ~ started with a 25#, did three windmill/squat and changed to a 20#kb. couldn't hold it over my head any more and didn't want to drop it on my head!!:p

Round 7: clean and press ~ started with the 25#, 5 on each side, 4 on each side, 3 on the right, then changed to the 20#er for my left side- my arm just wouldn't go up!! but I kept using the 25# for my right side (not sure what the right way to go is for that. Any thoughts)

Round 8: flip and squat ~ used the 25#, but had to stop after a min. and then finished up for the last 10 seconds ~ I started with the flip (that's what I did last week) but it wasn't pretty, so I did a high pull.

Round 9: tactical lunges ~ 20# couldn't finish the round!!!

Round 10: triple crush~ used the 20# really felt it

Round 11: sling shot into a figure 8 with a static hold ~ 25#

Round 12: seated press ~ 20# ~ only did the ladders never got to the singles

Round 13: one arm row ~ used 25#, kept up with Anthony for the first ladders. On the second go around, I only did 5 each side and 4 each side

Round 14: pullovers, Russian twists, Sicilian crunch ~ 20# feet on floor for the russian twists (^^^5 Marcy for getting your feet off the floor!!)

Round 15: 3 minute snatch test ~ did 2 sets of 5 with my 20# and called it a day! (the 20# was to0 light, but I was fried!)

Finished up with stretch max #1.

I did NOT fast forward thru the 1 min. rests today:p Definitely needed them!! But, I'm not as sore as I was last week at this point either. I felt a lot of the work in my abs! I also tried really hard to work on form. If my form went, I stopped or went to the 20#.

Think I can use my 35#er for swings and still call it a cardio workout? or do I always need to use the lighter weights for more cardio?.....what do you think? I may ask on the od forum.....

Gin~ Good to hear from you!!!:) I hope you enjoyed your run today. My break is from 12.23- 1.5.09. Channukah starts on sunday night! Did you have fun at your party last night? That was so nice of them to include/invite you!!

Marcy~ How'd you do today? Are you feeling less sore?....well at least till you workout;) I'm glad you got Empire State. Now we have the same dvds we can do them together!! I'm still not sure how I'm going to use the kb's next week. Either every other day with maybe bc or kb from 4DS inbetween, or yoga; or alternating Providence, the Empire State (I want to try the Manmaker workout) and Newport ( I think the first time I do this I will plan on just doing the first half!). Even though I ordered Fire power and Santa Monica, I know I'm not ready for them yet.

Have a great day gals,
I hope to bbl!

Good Afternoon!

I did Providence today and I'm not too sore at all. It was much easier today (although not easy!)

Swings - Got through full round
Cleans - Full round
1 arm chest press - full round
Squats and sumo deadlifts - full round
1 legged deadlifts - full round (Deanie - I probably could go to 25# too)
Windmill & Overhead squats - full round
Clean & Press - This one's still tough for me. Made it through the 5s and 4s but started losing it with the 3s, 2s and 1s.
Flip & Hi Pull - Not good - I think this one has more to do with endurance and I was just winded. Rested after first 30 secs and then didn't finish last 20 seconds of round.
Tactical lunges - did much better today but stopped with 30 secs. left
Triple Crush - Finished - probably could use 25# for bicep curls
Figure 8s and Slingshot - Much better coordination and finished full round
Seated Press - Finished! (couldn't finish last time)
1 arm rows - Full round
Abs - Finished - Sicilian crushers a little easier
Snatch Test - 5 on each side (only did 2 1/2 on L and 1 1/2 on R last time)

Deanie - Great job with the 25#!:p On the seated press, I started slowing down towards the end but finished and did a few less singles than Tony. Did you notice on the 1 arm rows, he goes much faster with the 2nd round? Thanks re Russian Twists! I used to love doing them in Ab Ripper X. Although it's a big difference from 8-20#! I definitely DO NOT fast forward through rests! I really need them. I got through the first 6 rounds pretty well without extra rests. I was able to finish in exactly an hour which was less than last time. This definitely feels like a cardio workout to me. It moves so quickly that my HR stays up. I haven't used my HRM in a long time but I'm sweating buckets and definitely feel my HR is up there. If you're doing cardio, you should probably use lighter weights although I would still ask on OD.

I would probably try Empire State next. On VF they rated the order of intensity:

Clinic - easiest then Providence, Empire State, Firepower, Santa Monica and lastly Newport. I'm not in a rush to do Newport just yet.

I just came back from my staff holiday luncheon. I didn't eat too much although I didn't exactly eat clean either! We had a white elephant grab bag. Lots of fun. I got a cookie jar, holiday door hanger and a journal (I think I'll use this to record next year's workouts). I'm off 12/24 - 12/28 and I get 1/2 day off on 12/31.

I was shocked to see you might include yoga again! I'll join you in a rotation but I guess we have to wait until we get all the DVDs. I'll be getting Empire State last.

Gin - Hope you enjoyed your party. It was nice of them to invite you. It always seems my breathing is worse for cardio days. Not fair! Today wasn't so bad.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Ladies -- Don't mean to enable but there is a KB sale at muscledriver.com. They have a 25# red vinyl kb for $35.67 and a 30# for $40.57. If I ordered both, my shipping would be $15.54 or $10.86 if I only ordered the 25#. I think these are good prices for KBs. What do you think?

Marcy

Good Afternoon

Marcy~ Great job with Providence! Personally, I think just getting thru the dvd in one piece is good;) Don't you love how Anthony says at the end "...and you thought you were in good shape didn't you!" ***ha ha*** I got my 30# Ader kettlebell and Firepower today!:D:) Firepower looks awesome! Not quite ready to try it though....

Waves to Gin!!

Marcy~ ....posting at the same time.... Those are REALLY good prices, I would get both... my brother sent me an article today, I'll email it to you. It reviewed different make kettlebells and the muscledriver bells were one of the ones reviewed. Can't remember what it said though... I think it was a positive review....

Marcy~ just reread the article~ NOT FAVORABLE!! Read the article before you buy!! (may have to double click on it... the first time I tried it, it didn't work)

Deanie - I really hate to spend the $$ after all that I spent on DVDs but these prices seem too good to pass up. Thanks in advance for the article.

Do you wear any kind of wrist/forearm guards? My forearms are a little sore. I have an elbow patch which I've been using and works well but I'm going to get another one tomorrow for the other arm.

Yes, I heard Anthony's comment. Providence is humbling. I wonder what he says at the end of Newport???

Congrats on your Ader KB and getting Firepower. I'll probably get mine any day. So are you going to get a matching kb to do Firepower, use dumbbells or just use one KB?

Marcy

Marcy::: I wear wrist bands. I got them in Target in the tennis department for 2$ and they work fine:) (they are pink and say Wilson on them!:p)

Right now I plan on using db's instead of buying yet another kettlebell. But I am in no way ready for Firepower now. May be in 3-6 months....so by that time, I may buy a new bell. According to the posts on AOS, Anthony intended the dvds to be used in the order he produced them: Providence, Newport then Firepower. So I figured I would use Providence and Empire State (alot of diff. options with that dvd) for a while, throwing in Newport and when I feel confident, I will start with Firepower.

Firepower actually has a great tutorial in it and Anthony says to practice the drills individually before you attempt the dvd. The rounds look TOUGH!

When are you getting The Empire State dvd? I think for a week or two, I may just alternate between Prov. ES and the manmaker on ES and then do yoga:eek: (david swenson) one day a week. Yoga seems like a natural compliment to kettlebells....doesn't it? not sure what I'd do on the alternate days. Any suggestions? I may do the jump rope workout again...that was tough!
