Good Morning Ladies!

Today was SS upper body blast and MM abs. SS is a little more challenging when you do all of the upper body twice.:p
I had a headache all day (and still do this morning!)after pushing myself during the race and then the loud noise of the MRI. I have no meds to take now.:(

Deanie~ Congrats on ds's exciting win yesterday! Has the rain stopped there? Is today your rest day? My rest day will have to be Wed this week. I have the day off and go for my EEG and they want me to have no more than 5 hours of sleep the night before.

Marcy~How was the dancing last night? Was it last night? And the car races?

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon

Today is my rest day:) So I ran errands and finally have time to relax!!

Gin~ sorry about your headache:( rain has stopped here, so we are off to do some outdoors stuff!

Waves to Marcy!!

have a great day!

Monday

Good Morning

Today was the last day of CTX upper body. I upped most of my weights (using the plate mates) and was happy with my workout. I still feel I can go further with this dvd - as far as keep being challenged, but I also think 4 weeks is good and now I should change things up. This is one of the few dvd I have that I have not gotten bored or unchallenged with the workout in 4 weeks. IMO, this is a more challenging upper body workout than PUB!! If I have time, I may post my weights later.

Gin~ I hope your mom is doing better and is going home today! When do you get the results of the MRI? Are you just running for cardio today? Hopefully Cathe will answer your question this week!

Marcy ~ I hope you had a great weekend!! Are you doing the X again this week?

Have a great Monday:confused:!! This is my first full week of school this month!!(because of the Jewish Holidays) I hope I make it!!!LOL;)

Good Morning!

Yes, today was my usual Monday 3 mile run and was soooo much easier than the Sat. hilly trail run!:p I sound like a wimp!:(
I would love to do 4ds HIS this aft, but we'll see.

Deanie~Glad you enjoy CTX. If I were to get one more Cathe dvd that would be it.
I didn't hear from my dad yesterday, but on Sat he said my mom was doing better. She was in ICU as of Sat. I'm sure he'll call me today.
Someone else answered my Q to Cathe about long distance running and STS, but I would really like to hear it from Cathe herself.
Enjoy your first full week back to school!:)

Marcy~How was your weekend? What is your workout schedule this week?

Have a great day!:)

Can you believe I did pushups on my knees!!!???:eek: My chest was really fried by the time we did staggard pushups!! Anyway, the first # after the exercise description is the set # and the second is the reps. ct means count. So for chest I did 1 set of 24 reps with single counts, then with the heavier weight I did 12 reps with a 2X2 count, etc. Hope that makes sense:confused: I am already feeling it in my tri, chest and shoulders!! Really enjoyed this workout. This is one of those workouts I like for the premixes so much better than "as Produced"

Good Afternoon!

Today was P90X Chest, Shoulders & Tris. Wasn't feeling terribly strong today and still being cautious with my elbow so I didn't do as well as where I left off but still did pretty good:

Slow Motion 3in1 Pushups: 12 + 8 bonus (5 less bonus)
In & Out Shoulders: 4 reps @ 12#; 12 reps @10# (used 13# last time)
Chair Dips: 40 with leg raise (2 less)
Plange Pushups: 25 (3 more) YAY!
Pike Presses: 15 (same)
Side Tri-Rises (14 each side) (did 22 each side last time)
Scarecrows: 12 reps @ 10# (did 8 reps at 15# last time)
Overhead Tricep Extensions: 15 reps @ 16# (5 reps and 1# heavier):)
Two-Twitch Speed Pushups: 14 (same)
Y-Presses: 10 reps @ 16# (2 more reps):)
Side-to-side pushups: 10 (6 less)
Pour Flys: 10 reps @ 10# (did 8 reps @ 12# last time)
Side-leaning Tricep Extensions: 9 reps @ 16# both arms (same)
One-Arm Pushups: 12 (4 less)
Weighted Circles: 5# both rounds (did 8# on 1st round last time)
Throw the bomb: 9 reps on both sides @ 16# (1# more):)
Clap Pushups: 5! This was a personal best for me!
Slow-Mo Throws: 8 @ 10# (last time did 4 @ 12# and 4@ 10#)
Front-to-back Tricep extension: 10 reps (both sides) @ 13# (2 more reps)
One-arm Balance Pushups: 12 (did 14 last time)
Fly-Row Press: 8 reps @ 10# (used 12 last time)
Dumbbell Cross-Body Blows: 20 reps @16# (2 more reps)

I compared this to week 5 of my 2nd round of the X since I wasn't starting from the beginning of the X.

Gin - Congrats on your placing in the race! Awesome job! I have to agree the premixes on SS & PP are quite challenging. No car races this weekend -- too much $$ and too cold. Dancing was great. I did Nightclub 2 - Beyond the Basics. I just got The Firm's Cardio Dance Fusion which I might do tomorrow but I'm not sure yet. Back & Bis on Wed, yoga on Thurs (probably PY4H2) and Legs & Back on Friday. That's it for my rotation this month -- not sure if I'll take a recovery week or go straight to a new rotation. Hope your mom goes home soon.

Deanie - I was quite surprised you said CTX Upper was tougher than PUB. That will go on my wish list for when I win the lottery! Great workout! I don't blame you for going on your knees. That's a lot of exercises she does before the pushups.

Have a great evening!

tuesday

Good Morning gals

Today was LIS cardio and CTX kickbox planks for abs. fun, short and sweet- just the way I like my cardio ;) I also got to sleep in a little since my workout was shorter!

Gin~ What was the workout today since you are taking wed. off? Why can you only sleep for 5 hours before the test? Good luck on the test tomorrow.

Marcy ~ ^5s for your workout yesterday. 5 clap pushups are great. I think they are the hardest pushups in there. I also think chest, should, tri is the hardest dvd, but that's another story!!LOL

Have a great tuesday!!!

Good Morning!

Today I did SS lower body, MM abs and SM#1. SS lower body had squats, dead lifts, plie squats and one legged squats, repeat 3X!:p But no explosive lunges.
I talked to my dad, my brother and my SIL about my mother. They all have a slightly different version. My dad told me she has been moved from ICU and has double pneumonia. The antibiotics they are giving her are causing her to halusinate (sp?). My brother says she is over the pneumonia and is getting better. They say I will be more help if I wait to come when she is home.

Deanie~I guess they want me to be sleepy during the EEG. I've never had one. LIS cardio....fun! I did HIS cardio last night. Very impressive with your weights yesterday! ^5's to you!

Marcy~What did you think of DWTS? I liked Lance the best and Cloris the least. Brooke didn't do as well with her hurt foot and Susan still looks so awkward, but better than last week. ^5's to your impressive workout too!!:)

Gotta run, I'm late........

Good Morning Ladies!

I had another allergic reaction last night and was up since 2:30. Some itching but not terrible but couldn't get back to sleep. Wound up doing the Quick NRG premix from Amy's Hi Lo Dome Challenge (46 mins.) This was another virgin workout waiting to be tried out. Had to modify since my breathing was rather shallow. It seems I have these reactions when there is a change in the weather. This morning was the coldest yet - only 36 degrees! Anyway, I really liked the workout, choreography really easy to pick up - no need to rewind. The premix was warmup, combos and intervals 1, 3 and 4, cooldown and stretch. I liked the stretch. Wanted to do abs but it was too late. Haven't done much ab work the past two weeks:( It always seems I get these reactions right before cardio day:mad: Tonight I have Nightclub 2 lessons.

Deanie - Thanks! I also thought the clapping pushups were the hardest. CST is probably the toughest workout but since shoulders and tris are my strong body parts, I don't mind it as much. Back and Bis always seems to give me a hard time. It's the shortest workout and takes me the longest to get through! The pullups in that one are really tough and biceps are probably my weakest body part. Glad you enjoyed your cardio this morning.

Gin - I agree with your brother that it might be better to wait until your Mom comes home. I was able to take a few days off when my mother had surgery a few years ago and she was so grateful I was there after she got home to help her out with everything. Lots of times everyone's always there at the hospital and when they need you the most is when they get home. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Good luck with the EEG tomorrow.

I also liked Lance the best. I thought it was his best dance so far. Even though Brooke was injured, I still thought she did a great job. Susan did better but I'm still waiting for her to "break out of the box" like Carrie says. Although she wasn't as stiff as usual. Cloris was terrible! I had to agree with Carrie what she said about Toni going home just so we could see Cloris dance so horribly (I barely saw any cha-cha steps in her cha-cha). As entertaining as she was, I really think it's time for her to go this week.

Have a great day!

Wednesday

Good Morning gals

Today is LL (no abs- since I did them yesterday). I am not sure if I am going to raise my weights or not. It is an endurance rotation, and the workout has been consistantly challenging for me at the current weights I am using. I may stick my plate mates on and just raise my weights a few pounds instead of 5#. We'll see. I am having a hard time getting motivated thiis early morning :p
Rumor has it snow is in the forcast for today!! Nothing big, and its not going to stick,..... but still!!!

Gin ~ I hope everything goes well today; did you take the day off of school? I agree with Marcy. I'm sure your mom wants to see you, but I would wait till your dad thinks its best. I'm sure she,and your dad, will really need your help when she gets home. I am sending (((((get well))))) vibes her way!!

Marcy ~ I hope you are feeling better today. Have fun with back and biceps!;) Enjoy your Nightclub 2 tonight- sounds fun!

Have a great Wednesday!!!

Good Morning!

I am going to do Classical Stretch in a minute. This is my rest day since I didn't get much sleep last night. I couldn't sleep more than 5 hours in preparation for the EEG. I am T-I-R-E-D!!:(
I didn't talk to my dad last night so I need to call today and find out about my mom.
Have you guys been curious about kettlebells? I wasn't but just read the thread on OD about them and they do sound like a good workout that brings results!!

Deanie~Snow today? Wow! Is that early in the year or do you usually get snow in Oct.?
I have the day off today anyway for Parent Conferences. Just the lead K teacher does the conferences...yeah!
Thank you for the get well wishes for my mom. I'm sure I will be going to see her when she is home.

Marcy~So sorry about your itching and sleepless night. How were you last night? Were you able to go to the Nightclub2 lessons?
Clapping pushups...YIKES you are strong! Both of you girls are so much stronger than I will EVER be!!

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

I did P90X Back & Biceps today. Another one I didn't get through the whole thing. I feel like I'm getting a little burned out (this morning DH says I'm burning the candle at both ends). Monday night (couldn't sleep), Tuesday (late for work, lost my parking pass, took 30 mins. to get out of parking lot last night, couldn't get home before dance class so went straight there and didn't see DH at all yesterday except for 5 mins. in the a.m.) I've come to the conclusion that it's hard for me to get pullups/chinups done when there is other upper body work in the workout. My body just needs too much time to recover. I feel like I'm running out of strength and energy. I guess I need a recovery week and then need to tone down my workouts to an hour or less (except maybe for yoga). Here are my stats for today:

Wide Front pullups: 1 (went 3/4 of the way and did another 2 attempts and went halfway)
Lawnmowers: 9 reps at 36# (1# more than last time)
21s: 21 reps @ 16# (same)
One-arm Cross-body curls: 10 reps @ 16# (1 rep more)
Switch Grip Pullups - pitiful! Attempted one and only went halfway
Standing Bicep Curls: 10 reps @ 18.8# (2 more reps)
Corn Cob Pullups - Disaster!
Reverse Grip Bent Over Rows: 9 reps @ 28.8# (1 less rep)
Open Arm Curls: 9 reps @ 18.8# (2 more reps)
Static Arm Curls: 16 reps @15.4# (same)
Towel Pullups: 1/2 rep on each side
Congdon Locomotives: 40 reps @ 18.8# (same but could've gone heavier)
Crouching Cohen Curls: 4 reps @ 18.8# (this is where I realized I'd had enough) but then gathered the energy to do
Hammer Curls: 6 reps @ 18.8# (2.8# more)
and did Supermans.

Again, no time for abs - had to get to parking garage early so they could let me in without a pass.

Aside from that, Nightclub 2 lessons were great. It was almost like a private lesson - I was the only girl and two guys showed up. Teacher gave us more steps to learn.

Deanie - Allergies were fine yesterday and today but I'm just feeling exhausted. I'm also going back to endurance and more cardio. I don't think heavy lifting is working for me anymore (or at least not right now). I've been maintaining my weight but I just feel skinny fat. I've been eating better but I think I just really need more cardio right now.

Gin - I definitely have been interested in kettlebells. Have read oodles of threads on them (here and at VF). Right now they're not in my budget but I think most (if not all) have had very positive results. Are you going to be getting them? Sounds like total body workouts that have a cardio effect to them. Someone at VF said it slimmed down her legs.

Good luck with your EEG and I hope you hear good news about your mom.

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Good Morning!

Today WAS supposed to be MM, but I turned off the alarm and TIRED to go back to sleep. I am hoping for enough energy this aft to do MM then. I've had 8 hours of sleep in 2 days.

Went to the dr yesterday and EEG and MRI were fine. He gave me new meds....one to take daily and one as needed for pain. I took the daily one last night and I am sure that is what messed up my sleep! I'm going to call and ask if it would help to take in the morning.

My mother is doing somewhat better (infecions and pnuemonia clearing up), but she is having hallucinations. She will have to go to a rehab hospital to regain her strength once she is dismissed.

Deanie~ Where are you? Hope okay. Is it a cardio day?

Marcy~Great workout yesterday! Kettlebells are not in my budget right now, but maybe one day!:)

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon

Can you believe this is the first time all day I've had to log in!!!
Today I did 4DS kickbox-- lets go lets go lets go!!!

I am thinking of jumping onto the kettlebell band wagon. I really was on the fence and all the threads in the od forum were very enticing, but I don't know how much $$ is involved and all. Then today, my brother emails me (the one who is doing P90X) and tells me I should do this!!!  So I am considering it. I just don't know how I would add it into my rotations, and $$$ is very tight right now... plus where to start weight wise?, and dvd wise.... its been so long since I've been a beginer at something, and I would definately need the beginer dvd (again $$ spent that I may only be using the beginer dvd for a short period of time) okay, now I'm rambling.... but I am seriously considering them. Also, the workouts are shorter and they say they get as much/more accomplished in half the time and that sounds great to me!!!:p

Gin~ Glad to hear your mom is better. Hopefully she will regain her strength soon. I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight. I hope you get a workout in today.

Waves to Marcy!! Where are you? I hope you are not too busy at work!

eta: I think i could easily talk myself in or out of the kettlebell thing I am sooo on the fence!!!;)

Good Afternoon!

Sorry to be posting so late. I was about to post a few hours ago and then I got something to do. I did PY4H2 this morning (one of my new ones) and did the Eddie Would Flow premix (65 mins.) Good, all around practice (no backbends or inversions though). Did crane and side crane. I did a modified crane to chaturanga. He seems to do a lot of bound poses but I like them. I liked this DVD but don't know yet if I like 1 or 2 better. The whole practice is 85 mins. so I have to look and see what was left out. He gives you a nice little booklet that tells exactly what's in each premix.

I'm still feeling a bit tired but getting a little better.

Deanie - There's a kettlebell DVD with Lauren Brooks that's supposed to be good for beginners. If you want to check out more threads, you should go to videofitness.com. I think you only need one or two kettlebells to start, but the problem is the DVDs are expensive (about $40).

Gin - Glad your mom is doing better. I hope her hallucinations go away soon. I hope you sleep better tonight. Did you get to do MM today?

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

Today is Super sets premix #3-- sets 1ABA, 2ABA and no abs.

Today is a busy day for me. I work till noon, go right to DS8's school for the party set up and Halloween parade. Rush home for my DS12, we have a little while to relax, then I make dinner early, (Fri. dinner takes a long time to cook) and eat and be ready and go out at 7!! DS12 is going with several friends and DH across the street(homes are closer together, so they get more candy:p), and I am going with DS8 in our neighborhood! Luckily it is supposed to be around 60ish today.

Gin~ Do you do a Halloween party/parade in your school? We don't so I don't have to worry aobut dressing up. What cardio did you do today?

Marcy~ My brother and I figure he will be done the X in Jan, and then after a rest week he may try kettlebells. Since I will be starting STS then and will be tied up till march with that, he is going to get the dvds, and kettle bells and share them with me when he is done. I may buy my own dvd though depending which one he gets. A win/win for everyone.

Have a very Happy Halloween!!!

Good Morning Ladies!

Can you believe how early I'm posting??! I needed more sleep this morning so I only had time to do Hilary Burnett's Advanced Mat Pilates for 20 minutes. I also did 1 chin, 1 close grip pullup and one with a natural grip (or hammer grip) I don't know what to call it.

Deanie - I sent you an e-mail with a kettlebell review. Someone mentioned on od there's a discount code "10off" from Mary at totalfitnessdvds. She's a very good vendor and everyone seems to be very happy with her. It's nice you're able to share fitness stuff with your brother. Enjoy trick or treating!

Gin - What's on tap for today? Did you sleep any better last night?

Have a great day!

Good Morning and Happy Holloween!

Today I ran and then did MM, since I missed it yesterday. And I am taking the day off because my brother called yesterday and said I should go to Houston to help out. So I got a sub and then called my dad who convinced me to wait until my mother is released from the hospital and then I can be more help. So I have a free day at home. My mother is still hallucinating and he has a sitter there overnight at the hospital with her.

Did you girls see the Q I posted to Cathe about training for a half marathon and STS? She makes me think that I would be better off waiting to start STS until after the half. If you look at her response, tell me if you think that is what she is saying.

Marcy~Those kettlebells seem more and more enticing!! I fell asleep last night at 7, thinking I was just taking a nap and then woke up at 2am!

Deanie~Enjoy trick or treating tonight. I am missing the Halloween parade and party at school and also the scarecrow making with the moms. Pretty much just a fun day. I have a dorky Halloween shirts that I usually wear to school, no costume. That is great that you and your brother can share fitness equipment.

Have a Happy and safe Halloween!

Gin - Enjoy your rest day! Have fun! You sound like you could use it. When is your half marathon? I'll go look at Cathe's response in a minute. Do they have an idea when your mother might be released?

Marcy

Gin - Regarding your training - It sounds like Cathe was saying that it might be better to wait until after your marathon is over. I think the more you run, the more it would be breaking down the muscle you're trying to build. She did mention no heavy leg workouts, but I wonder if it would be okay for you to start STS since it starts with endurance leg work. Unless maybe you do the leg workouts that don't use weights.

From what she said, 3 days is okay but when you get up to 5 days or more, it wouldn't be a good idea because it would take your energy away from supporting your strength workouts.

HTH.
