Hey Everyone-

Where did all the warrior princesses go? Did the coma from the Halloween candy take over? lol

Yesterday I did the cardio premix from Drill Max for the first time. It wasnt bad at all, must be a sign that I am getting stronger and fitter. Tackled disc 19 chest/shoulders/triceps and walked on the treadmill this morning. My triceps were fried by the time I got to the exercises, had to lower weights on all the exercises a little, but thats fine since I know its working.

Heather - I hope you are feeling better, you can catch up on the workouts when your body is ready.

Janis, Cathy and Sassy...hope you are well and are going to come out of hiding today. ;)

Off to work, talk to you later...

Warrior Princesses NEVER hide! {laughing}

We just wait for other Warrior Princesses to start the weekly thread!:D

I finished October with Meso 1 legs, disc 12 and I started November with Meso 3 chest/back on Sunday. I decided not to take a rest week since I have had so much bloody rest, I just feel like moving on.

I really like lifting slow and heavy. I do wish, however, that I had acquired a second barbell, on the first disc there is a lot of up on the rack/down on the floor action.

Yesterday I ran on the treadmill, walking 2 minutes, running 8, 3x for 30 minutes. I followed it up with B&G. Does all the pulsing action hurt anyone else's knees? This time, I minimized the pulsing and held it static instead, even so, the knees are complaining.

Today is swim and aqua jog day.

Heather - I, too, hope you are feeling better. Being sick and having sick children is terribly stressful! I loved hearing about how grandpa used to tell you stories about Boudica!

MJ - of course you're getting stronger! Warrior Princesses who play tennis are always stronger than the other princesses.

Sassy - yeah,I want to know too, how is Halloween celebrated in Europe?

Cathy - Thanks for commiserating with me about my weaker left side. Remind me, what disc are you on?

Ok I am going to toss in this John Bingham quote from, Running with Mortals.

"We were not designed to stand still. If we were, we'd have at least three legs. We were designed to move.

Our bodies are bodies that have walked across vast continents. Our bodies are bodies that have carried objects of art and war over great distances.

We are no less mobile than our ancestors. We are athletes. We are warriors. We are human."

Yep. LOL

Yesterday I did Disk 19 - with it's fun doublewave loading and tons of weight changes. Luckily, I've learned to go through ahead of time and make notes of all the different pieces I need to get each weight. I'm not sore much from it, but my lower back is feeling tight. That tends to make me nervous because I've had issues with it a couple times and had to have it adjusted, so today I just stretched. May take a warm bath later and stretch some more. I know I've been REALLY bad about not stretching enough. I've never been as good about it as I should but the higher the number on my birthdays gets the more I really need to be doing it. And that number is going up again this month.

I'm also sort of burnt out on the cardio's I have and so I am greatly looking forward to getting Shock Cardio. They all sound really fun so far. But, that basically translates into it's easy for me to convince myself to skip cardio. Sunday it was because one of the boys had been sick and broken sleep, this morning because of my back.... I need to snap out of it, because it's still probably going to be close to a month before I'll get anything new to play with.

Hey Warriors!

I am still "sick" today but I am really hoping that tomorrow will be different. My plan is to try and do legs tomorrow and then Chest and Tri's the next day and still fit everything by the end of the week (Sunday). I can't believe how much I feel like I have not accomplished anything when I don't work out in a day. I was on such a good roll too. Janis I can't imagine how you stayed sane! If this does keep going (the low grade fever) then I think I will make this my rest week and then carry on straight through after that. It sucks when you are just sort of sick. My oldest is better but the youngest is still got a fever. Crazy.

Cathy - It is hard to keep the cardio motivating sometimes. I find that if I do running and mix it up the DVD's that helps and if I write it all out in the workout manager then I feel like I have to do it! Broken sleep really does suck though, it quietly beats you up. Hope your kids are feeling better. I also am feeling the need for stretching! Especially the lowers back and hamstrings. Hope you have a lovely relaxing bath!

MJ - Tennis Warrior Princess Thanks for starting the thread... you are the glue! and of course you are getting stronger!

Janis - I don't blame you for skipping the rest this time around! I am so glad that you can get running again! I have actually been doing B&G to try and strengthen my knees so that I won't have pain. When I first started STS I really was having a hard time with my knee's range of motion and pain when lunging (any kind of lunge). If you have pain then you could try backing off on your weight or not going as deep. I often change the height of the support foot to help with the knee pain. I have to say that over the past few months things have really improved, just go slow. You also probably have lost strength in some of your stabilizer muscles around your knee and now things are rubbing or pulling. I still can barely do the 45 degree lunges in Meso 2. There is just something about that angle.
Anyways, hope you can get it to be pain free!

Sassylady - Are you out there????

Oh yeah, I actually had a nice time with the MIL...It's much easier on my own turf!

Hopefully tomorrow I will post about Meso 2 Week3 legs!
Cheers
Heather

Today was Disk 20 - legs. I can't believe I only have 4 workouts left in Meso 2 already.

Heather I hope you are feeling better today.

I believe when the radio kicked on this morning snow flurries were mentioned. I am so not ready for snow.

Hey Everyone

I did it! Disc 20 legs! My butt was actually quivering after I got upstairs. I really thought we must have missed hamstrings somehow but between all those slides and sit and stands, something got them. I am feeling much better today. Yesterday at about 1:00 I suddenly felt better! Now I just have to make sure that I don't over due it trying to catch up.

Snow Cripes! We have it in the forecast too but then the weekend is supposed to be fall weather again. I sent the boys in winter coats today... Sad.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a good day and gets their workout in!

Heather

Hey Warriors!

I just finished disc 27, shoulders, biceps and triceps. It was the first round of meso 3 for this muscle group. I enjoyed this workout! So few equipment changes and it just flowed really, really well.

Heather – “Broken sleep really does suck though, it quietly beats you up.” So true. Well said.
“I can't believe how much I feel like I have not accomplished anything when I don't work out in a day. I was on such a good roll too. Janis I can't imagine how you stayed sane!”

I know! Exercise really makes the world go around, much more smoothly – that is!.I was starting to go stark raving mad, but swimming helped a lot – so did spending a bunch of cash on new swimming related gear! Lol!

“If you have pain then you could try backing off on your weight or not going as deep. I often change the height of the support foot to help with the knee pain. I have to say that over the past few months things have really improved, just go slow. You also probably have lost strength in some of your stabilizer muscles around your knee and now things are rubbing or pulling.” Good observation and great tip! Thanks.

Cathy – ” I know I've been REALLY bad about not stretching enough. I've never been as good about it as I should but the higher the number on my birthdays gets the more I really need to be doing it. And that number is going up again this month.” ME TOO! On all three counts: never been good about it, need it more, and bday coming up this month!
I much prefer vigorous exercise to slow and boring, but it is becoming apparent that I need to start doing more yoga in order to prevent injuries.

As for your cardio rut – what about just going for a hike? Or alternatively doing some simple drills? I am step-challenged so swimming, running, biking, rowing are my only choices!

Sassy – Overseas Warrior Princess, how are you ?

MJ – Hi there! How are your triceps today?

Alright, I am a very, very hungry Princess Warrior. it is time for some post-workout fuel!:D

Well this morning I tried something new. DH had gotten Body Fusion awhile back and I'd never done it, so today I did the step and add on abs. Using a full step and added intensity the step was a decent workout, though not something I'll do regularly as the combos are easy and it would get boring pretty fast. The ab work was actually quite good I thought. I was certainly feeling it.

Unfortunately, it's not easy for me to get outdoor cardio where I live. We live in the country, but on a road where people speed regularly (ok, that includes me) so walking, running are out (running is really out anyway as my knees have never handled it well), no place within a reasonable distance to hike and no money for cardio toys. Ok, there's my pity party for the day. ;)

Never did snow yesterday and now the temps are going to be 40's and 50's the next few days. My boys HATE having to dress for winter (unless we are going sledding or tobogganing) and indoors where shorts and T-shirts year round. They are still determined to just wear heavy sweatshirts outside or just not go outside.

Hey Everyone

I feel like I am living in the vortex of a storm! Yesterday both boys were finally back at school and the phone rang my oldest DS had cracked his head open and would need stitches. Lots of time in emerge and then more lines the next day for the doctor etc. Anyways, the good news was that this morning I did Chest and Triceps Disc 19. Wow my triceps were dying after the double wave with the barbell. I could barely do the Cross body extensions. For the last rep I had to go 5 lbs lighter!
It felt really good though! Then because of the craziness yesterday I didn't get to run as I planned so I ran this morning. So i really feel that I accomplished alot. Unfortunately my diet suffered a little because we were out but not too bad!

Tomorrow I am going to do Cardio fusion and save Back for Sat.

Cathy - I have been thinking about you and cardio options... I live in the country and the paved road next too our house has no shoulder and everyone drives fast too. I have a gravel road but that can be a pain to run on. I am thinking. I really do like step so maybe getting a more complicated disc to add to the options. Anyways, I will keep thinking! Have you tried Cathe's quick fix cardio or her boot camp cardio that she talks about on Cathe TV. I have to add a bunch of different moves to try and do different things to make it more exciting but they do the job too. Good luck spicing it up in the mean time. And good luck getting your boys outside! Mine aren't quite cool enough yet to know about not wearing your coat!

Janis you seem so far ahead! I guess your not really but Meso 3! With all your set backs that is great!

MJ - Hope work hasn't swallowed you up and your still walking on the beach...a little jealous!

Cheers
Heather

Oh man was it a struggle this morning. I did Disk 21 Back and Biceps. I made it through back and then had to drop my weight for barbell curls by 5 lbs. I discovered later that even after dropping it was still heavier than I'd used in my first round and I'd gone heavier on the one arm row doublewave load stuff, too. So, I did just fine, but I was struggling enough that I was like WTH am I doing and why do I do this stuff. Fortunately afterwards, when I was back in my right mind, I remembered why. ;)

As far as cardio goes, I'm just going to keep doing something while waiting in great anticipation of Shock Cardio. It all looks so fun. That'll keep me busy for awhile. Next spring I need to get my bike checked out and get a new helmet (the boys used mine while playing roller hockey and it got cracked  ) then I can ride next year. I rode last year quite a bit, but not at all this year.

Heather I'm glad your son's going to be ok.

Hi All STS Warrior Princesses

Yesterday I swam, did a little aqua jogging, then came home and did B&G. I actually woke up in the middle of the night hungry! I almost got up and made myself eggs. I don't think I have ever had that happen before - well - with pregnancies, maybe. Today I ran on the TM, I ran 3, 12 min intervals with 2 minutes walking. I forced myself to do an hour of Rodney Yee after wards, and boy, am I glad I did.

Heather - The Emergency Room is a terribly horrible place to spend an afternoon and evening. I am glad your son is okay. How many stitches did he need? I had to go to the ER, recently, for a kitchen knife wound. The ER doc berated me for coming in with a "little owie when people are dying here every day." He sort of made a feeble apology when he, too, couldn't get the bleeding to stop and had to acknowledge I had a bleeder that needed sewing up. Jerk. :p

I know - it seems like I am almost too far ahead, but I double checked that I didn't miss a week! I am a month behind on STS legs though. Tomorrow I'll start Meso 2 for legs.

Cathy - so when is your birthday? I am looking forward to Shock Cardio too, when I get STS Cardio, I think I'll start STS all over again, I doubt we will get it any sooner than January.

MJ - Hey did the Tennis God squire you away?

Sassy - how are you doing with STS?

Janis is sure sounds like that doctor needs to brush up on his bedside manner!

Tomorrow is my rest day and I have an all day workshop, so I won't be around.

Oh, my birthday is the 22nd and I'll be 49. Next year I'm having a party for myself, because when I was 45, I decided I'd invite my friends over for a daytime party every 5 years. DH is a major introvert and would never consider having one for me, so I just do it myself. ;)

Good Evening Everyone

Well today has not gone as planned but sometimes you have to go with the flow! I was supposed to do Back and Biceps Disc 21 but it never happened. So tomorrow. Probably a good thing that I did not do it as we dug up a bunch of trees and moved them around this afternoon. I was working. Yesterday I did Cardio Fusion for (part of it anyways).

Janis - Gotta love the Emerge! Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Cathy - That's great that you do what you need!

Sassylady and MJ - Hope you are having a good weekend.

Tomorrow is a new day! (I really had a good day just didn't meet the workout expectations that were a little too high)
Heather

I had a wonderful day today with lots of great women that I only get to hang out with about 3-4x a year. Gives me a bit emotional boost.

My birthday parties are pretty low key. I invite over friends and their kids (if they homeschool) and everyone brings a dish to share instead of a gift.

Happy Sunday Everyone

I finished Disc 21 Back and Biceps today. Ouch! The double wave load with the one arm rows did me in and by the time I got to the double wave load for the biceps I couldn't manage to go up the 5% in weight like you were supposed to. But I did it! I then went for a run outside as it is 68 here. So nice. Crazy though because I took advantage of the warm weather to fill the porch pots with evergreens for Christmas. Ha.

Cathy - I'm glad that you had a great party - it is so nice to hang out with the girls sometimes!

Janis - Wow you must have been really hungry! I have never managed to pull myself out of bed for food in the middle of the night (outside pregnancies). You did alot that day. I have one Rodney Yee DVD but I have a hard time making myself want to work out with him. I think I had better do some sort of stretch tonight though!

Hope the lost warrior princesses find there way back!

Talk to you soon
Heather

This morning I did Step Blast. I've decided that until I get the new cardios, I'm going to print out a list of all the cardios I have (pretty much everything Cathe's done) and cut them up and put them in something and pull out one each morning to do. That way I won't be tempted to just go with what I like best or what's easiest. ;)

Heather it's warm here today, too. Almost 70! and we have the windows and doors open. It's supposed to be almost as warm tomorrow, too. Boys have been playing in the leaves and I went out and cut some bedding for the guinea pigs in our natural area. I burn calories and it's free. :D
