leg presses instaed of lunges

I came to the conclusion that I just can't do lunges. I have tried static lunges and is ok as long as I don't do endless reps. It seems to me that is rather the # of reps than the lunge itself that bother me the most. My knees make all kind of noises when I lunge and i can't lunge as deep on my left knee.
Do you think that by doing leg presses and wall squats I'll be getting the same benefits than if I were doing lunges?

In between, i love step w/o and I do them on a 6 inches step. i doesn't seem to bother if I workout for 30-45 mins 3 times per wk.

I have been thinking about getting STS, I know that Cathe does a lot of lunges, what other modificatons do you suggest?

Thanks!

Thanks

Thank you Cynthia,

I'll try that modification. Today I did Muscle Endurance and it has 3 rounds of leg presses, that's why I came with the idea.

If lunges cause you pain and discomfort, you shouldn't feel pressured to do them just because they are included on a particular workout. Lunges are just another way of working the muscle groups of the legs under pressure. As long as you hit all the muscle groups of the leg, it doesn't matter how you do it.

Squats: overall lower body, particularly quads, glutes

Deadlifts, hamstring roll outs with stability ball and hamstring curls: hamstrings, maybe glutes

Glute bridges, donkey kicks and hip extensions: glutes, hamstrings

Leg extensions: quads

Side leg lifts standing or lying: adductors, abductors

Step ups: quads, glutes, maybe hams

So you can see that there are plent of different ways of working all the muscles. You do not have to do lunges.
