Learning the moves

I started off with a freebe that came with the step I purchased. Loved it. After modifying it for optimal intensity and reasonable longevity (about 40 minutes), I decided I needed a more intense video. I purchased I MAX 3, I have modified it too, so that I can use the blasts, but I really need something a little slower so I can learn the stepper moves, I can't even make it thru the warm up without getting lost. Please recommend a stepper video that takes some time to learn the moves, like the basic step video. I'm anxious to get started. THANKS A LOT!

IMAX 3 has some tricky footwork - it takes several times of doing it to get the moves down. You might like LowMax, because Cathe breaks each step combo down so you have time to learn it. It is an interval workout similar to the IMAX workouts, but is low impact - it's a lot of fun. Step Blast is another good one where she teaches the combos step-by-step. If you want high-impact intervals like IMAX 3, but without the fancy footwork, you might try Interval Max (it's on the Rhythmic Step+ DVD), which has very basic choreography (but it will still get your heart pumpin'!). Don't give up on IMAX 3 - it's a lot of fun once you get the moves down, but it does take some time to learn. I still trip over my own feet on occasion when I do that one. :)

Hi DP! Welcome to Cathe's place! Cathe just suggested this idea yesterday to work up to her workouts. These workouts would be more basic and give you the confidence to build from there. Good Luck and let us know what you decide. Read below for Cathe's suggestion:

Hi Everyone! Soon the new DVD's will be in your hands. Since I have received a few emails asking which workout is harder (our previous Basic Step or our new Low Impact Step)I though I would elaborate a little.

If you were a beginner and you didn't know where or what order to start with with my beginner to intermediate workouts, I would put them in this order.

1) Basic Step (the 30 minute basic combo's with longer breakdown)

2) Body Fusion (50 minute step and weight circuit)

3) Low Impact Step (38 minute intense solid step workout)

Actually #2 and #3 are about equal in intricacy and intensity but Low Impact Step stays focused completely on low impact step cardio with slightly more intricacy and Body Fusion is a step and weight circuit but contains a few higher impact moves perhaps making it slightly higher in intensity. Its a judgement call.

As a more advanced participant, you will soon see how easy it is to modify "up" Low Impact Step simply by doing the moves the way you are used to vs keeping them completely grounded. Also, you have the option of going to an 8 inch step height and/or selecting a more advanced premix option.

I suggest doing the workout as is, as your base, and then you will know what you need to do to modify up, down, or stay right where you are

try lomax. It is great low impact . It took me a few times to get it down . Replay. Even if you don't finish it.
I am starting to learn her moves.
I am new too. Her moves get easier. Sometimes I make them harder than they are until I get it. I feel stupid.
I just keep replaying the chapter.

You can learn Cathe's style much easier using the older workouts. I started with PowerMax (on Cardio Hits) and StepWorks. These are broken down more than her later stuff and make it much easier to learn her choreography. (Oh, and they are SO fun! I love PowerMax!)

Good luck!
