How does LL calculate how many calories you need per day? There is very little info on the website to convince me to do this program.

Hi Cbelle,
There's a tool that asks for your height, weight, and bodyfat percentage (it has a help guide to estimate if you're unsure). You put in how much weight you want to lose for that week (i.e. half pound, one pound, etc). and how many vigorous minutes of exercise you plan on doing that week. It'll give you a breakdown of your daily suggest calories for that week that's staggered. It'll have two lower calorie days, one high calorie day (for your weekly splurge) and four average calorie days. Hope that makes sense.

I'm really not trying to convince anyone to do this program. It's worked very well for me but may not be for everyone. It's very detailed and requires you to log all your food and exercise. It'll take work to set everything up on the website...you'll have to input your foods, make meals, set up a weight lifting program, etc. I love tracking these things anyway so I enjoy it but understand other's don't.... Like any program, you get out what you put into it. :) HTH.

I come to Cathe's website because I own all her workouts and mainly use her stuff, lift weights at a gym, and run for my exercise. And I'm also the "Cathe expert" on the Leanness Lifestyle site because I'm always willing to suggest one of her workouts and give a breakdown of them, LOL! So I just basically like to talk about what works for me, that's all! ;)

Kathy,
Do you eat particular foods on LL or particular percentages? Or as long as you stay within your calories you eat what you want? I know I've read many of your posts at ya ya's but can't remember if this has been discussed. Thanks.

Hi there Angela,
It's a 40% carb/40% protein/20% fat diet. It has some flexability to it but I found that I lost the most weight when I followed this percentage closely. Now that I'm in maintenance, I find my percentage falls more into the 45/33/22 range most of the time. It's just the way I eat, I like lots of veggies and fruits. ;-)

He stresses the less processed the better and to eat whole foods rather than shakes all the time. It's not to say you can't have two of your meals be shakes, it's just not recommended to have 4 out of 6 (or more). Same with protein bars... He likes us to eat LOTS of veggies and a cup of fresh fruit everyday. HTH.
