Leaner Legs making Larger Legs?

CathyP

Cathlete
Are all the squats I am doing in Leaner Legs with a weighted bar (only 10lbs - but still 10lbs more than I did) making my legs larger - especially the quads?

Maybe -- only you can tell for sure! If you wanted to, you could measure them now, do LL for a month, and measure them again. Not that this would be a perfect measurement because your diet could affect the size also. But if you eat like you have been, you could try and control for diet.

It is possible that if you are building muscle, but not losing fat, to appear a little bigger (in any muscle group). However, I don't think that this is a good reason to quit building muscle. In the long run, muscle will help you burn fat at rest.

Thanks for the advice. I think you maybe right about building muscle, but not losing the fat. I think my diet needs a major overhaul - all those little naughty things certainly add up.

I do feel much better with the weight trainng.

Hi Cathy! I agree that you should look into your diet too. But if you feel that your legs are reponding more than you care for, you can also try doing some of the very high reps lunges with no weight at all.

Dear Cathe

Thanks. I think I will try without weights - I do Karen Voight's GWW leg section without any and that works just fine. I have made diet improvements already too!!

Leaner legs is a very high rep workout. I can't imagine that it would bulk you up because you just can't lift enough weight to really grow the muscles big.

Now if you're starting from scratch, your muscles are gonna grow for a while because you haven't been exercising, but you will reach a point where you can't add any more weight because of the speed and number of the exercises.

That said, if it worries you, just do the tape without any additional weight. You'll still be workin' the muscles but you shouldn't bulk.
