Hi everyone!
Has anybody had protein powder while pregnant? I wanted to take mine (lean Dessert) but wasn't sure if it is safe????
Thanks
LULI

Congrats on the pregnancy. I actually don't know for sure - but you may just ask your doctor. You definitely want to be safe! I can tell you one thing though - I am not sure if you are continuing in your workout regimen as you were pre-pregnancy for the most part, but any excess protein that they body takes in that is not used (mainly by the muscles in lifting weights, etc) is turned into FAT. Just want to make sure for your sake. You could always get the protein you need from food sources, maybe, for now. Let me know what your doctor says, I would love to know personally in case I take on any pregnant clients in the future.

Hi Luli.

Congratulations!! I just went to my first appointment today (with a pregnancy nurse). I told her I was a vegetarian, and she told me that protein was very important, especially in the 3rd trimester (because of muscle/brain development). She asked me what I ate for protein sources. I told her I usually meet my protein requirement each day, but she said if I didn't to make sure and drink protein shakes and eat protein bars. I would definitely ask your doctor though!! HTH

Also look to see what else is in your protein powder. I used mine a couple of times and then remembered it's sweetened with Stevia which I have no idea if that's safe or not, so I don't use it anymore. I get all my protein from the food I eat and I'm not working out as much as I was before I was pregnant.

Yes, I've used protein powder in pg/nursing. Do check the ingredients, and if you don't feel comfortable bring the bottle to dr or pharmacist for assurance.
Congrats on your pg!

Just checked out the product label and it says not for use by pregnant women . It has some ingredients in it other than just protein called ELG Stimulators and Aminogen which may be why there is a warning . Protein powder is great just check label out with your doctor and try to go for powders that are just protein powders . There are alot out there. Good luck!!

Mine says not to use while pregnant either. bummer. I'd like to find one that is safe.

Maggie:)
