Lat Row form question

Hi Cathe,

You have a beautiful back and I'm trying really hard to get some definition too. When I do dumbell or barbell lat rows I really try to focus so my back does the work but I swear my shoulders won't quit trying to take over, especially on the right side. Is that stupid? If my shoulders are doing the work more so than my back, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

i'm interested in hearing the answer to this, too. no matter what i do it seems that i can't feel it as much as i'd like to in my back.

Hi! I'm not Cathe, but are you talking about dead rows? I had alot of trouble with dead rows until I finally lowered my weight quite a bit, more than I would have thought. I use a 15-18 lb dumbell for one arm rows, but I had to go down to 6 lb dumbells for dead rows, and now I finally feel it in my back more than my shoulders. If you're talking about one arm rows I have better luck when I retract my shoulder blades and when I do the exercise with my arms slightly behind pependicular and lead with my elbows. Does any of this make sense? Good luck I hope this helps.
