kristin kagen and mindy

Funny you mentioned Step this Way 2, Stayfit, I was just going to give my experience with this workout. I just did this one yesterday for the first time. Yikes! It's going to take me awhile to learn the choreography. It is very complex, with a lot of turns all over the step. Let's just say, I was rarely where she was on the step. When Kristin was on the left, I was on the right. When she was in back, I was in front.

What I liked: It's great intensity. It has a little Cathe in the interval part and alot of Christi Taylor in the step routine. I was sweating even while trying to learn the workout. Alot of variety in this one! Oh, the cueing is very good as well.

What I dislike: I never comment on instructor appearance or attire, but I couldn't stand the outfits. I thought Kristin just got back from the beach. She looked like she was wearing a one piece swimsuit with shorts over it. Why this bothered me, I don't know. This look was not flattering for her figure. Also, there is alot of turns in this one. I don't know if I will ever master it.

But, I will not give up. It usually takes me 4 attempts before I master complex choreography. I will give it my all. There are 6 intervals and it is 46 minutes long. I will let you know if I master this after 3 more attempts. Anybody else have any encouraging words with this one I would appreciate it.

Mindy Mylrea is much easier to master. I have Extreme Intervals and Awesome Intervals. I like theme both. She is tough but more moderate choreography. Mindy is quite chatty, but I like it and find her humorous. Mindy uses the step vertical and horizontal, and in AI, the last part is 8 min. of straight intervals. It will get you quite winded. Her cueing isn't that great, but I find her workouts easy to catch on to. Hope this helps Stayfit.

I also just got Solid Gold Step. After just previewing it. It looks like another tough one to master, but I need to learn STW2 first before learning Christi's. This one looks pretty dancy.

Thanks for your long post. You have help me to decide. I am not going to try another workouts. I have enought workouts of the best, , all except the abs hits,to use in my preparation for the hardcore. This is my first preorder of anything and the expectation for the hardcore is going to be tought.I have seen past posts about the shipment date of the BB and there was 7 months beteween the first presale and the shipment. I know cathe needs time to do the workouts and the premixes ,and of course she has a work and a family, that I love but I am so anxious. I go to the forums everyday waiting to see news about the new series.Patience.

These are both good videos. Fab40 - you will get the choreography! I actually like the first STW better then STW2, but it does not come on DVD. Mindy's is very easy to learn, intense and fun. I wish Kristin would do more videos as I think her choreography is interesting and she cues well. These are 2 tapes I reach for when I want a little step variety.

Stayfit--

Step This Way and Step This Way II are both wonderful workouts. More complex than Cathe but almost as intense. I LOVE STW2 because it doesn't break down the moves, so you really don't get tired of the workout.

Jo--I emailed Kristen a while ago and she said she will no longer be making videos :-( :-( She's gone back to school and wants to take her life in another direction, I guess.

Our loss huh! Whah! Oh well, good for her! At least, for us video junkies, we have 2 great workouts from her! :) :) Thanks for sharing that piece of info!

Jo, you are right! I did STW2 again this morning and the routine started to click. It amazes me how much you can master the second time around. I had my doubts but I'm getting it! I really have to say the intensity is similar to Cathe's Imaxes. The last 5 minutes I could barely complete. I was tired! I am so glad I decided on this one, the choreography is a lot of fun. I will give it a rest for this week and pull it out again next week. If anyone is looking for a fun, complex, advanced routine with good cueing this is a great purchase. :)

Don't have Step This Way 2 so can't comment on this one. I do have Step This Way and like it a lot. Kristin cues very well, which is a good thing because this workout has some pretty amazing choreography. The intervals aren't that tough (they're no IMAX 2) and make for a nice break in the middle of learning all this choreography.

I personally like Mindy's Extreme Intervals better than Awesome Intervals. The warm up in Awesome Intervals is atrocious and Mindy does not cue this well at all!!! The rest of the workout is typical Mindy, not too tough choreography but some pretty intense stuff none the less. However, I am so put off by the warm up that I can't recommend this one over Extreme Intervals. I love Extreme Intervals!!!

Hi Fab40,

Your review of step this way 2 brought back so many memories of step this way. Soooo much fun and what a challenge trying to stay on the right side of the board. It took me several attempts. Usually mass confusion frustrates me but not with MS Kagen. After a few attempts I was flying around dancing and jumping with every que. Really felt worked out yet energized at the same time. Hmmm, I hope this one is put in DVD format so you can experience it. Or maybe..... I should get STW 2. I better exit this thread now with my pocket book intact.

Have fun,
jordan
