"Knit and Fit" Wednesday

Dear Fit Knitters:

NY25: I began my winter knitting last fall, in the hope that I would be able to get it done by this fall. Wrong. Still working on it. Have to do a power move over the next few weeks. Regarding shawls: I was going to tackle Charlotte’s Web (http://www.koigu.com/new_page_4.htm), but I kept getting lost in the lacework. I put it aside for my old age when I might have fewer brain cells but less distractions.

Suz: I would love to be in a knitting group. However, we are back to the time crunch issue.

Joanne: Glad that you are joining us. When you are ready to go to the next step and would like suggestions, please ask. Meanwhile, you may want to watch DYI’s “Knitty Gritty.” This is a knitting show that contains all types of projects, at all levels. What is cool is that they demonstrate different techniques. You might see something you want to try. The featured patterns can be downloaded for free on their web site. A few weeks ago I saw one about knitting a Moebius (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_dkng/episode/0,2046,DIY_18180_43402,00.html), which is perfect for a collection of yarns that I bought at the Maryland Sheep Festival last May.

Amy: Considering how many things you have on the needles, what does your yarn stash look like? I though I was “bad.”

Joycet: I like to quilt as well as knit. However although I have tried many other crafts, I always go back to knitting.

This month I am doing Cathe’s May premix rotation. Going to the basement to do BC every thing but core and abs from ME.

If you are first, please feel free to start the check-in.

Have a great day!

Rhonda

RE:

Rhonda- Let's just say that my stash literally takes up an entire corner of the storage room! Yes, it's bad!!! I typically buy yarn because I love the color or texture, without having a use for it, then figure something out later! I have to say, though, that I haven't worked on anything for a couple of months now. I typically do that, though. I'll go in spurts where I work on stuff, then stop. My other crafting love is counted cross stitch. You should see my 'stash' for that! I haven't worked any any of that for a couple of years, though.

I love Knitty Gritty! I get lots of ideas from them and have several of the newer ones saved on my DVR because they have great tips and tricks.

RE:

My stash of yarn, cross stitch and needlepoint stuff takes up an entire closet. Lol.... My husband doesn't open that closet. ;)

I usually buy yarn for specific projects. I'm just wondering but if you buy yarn because you like it, what do you do if find a project for it but you don't have enough yarn? That's the primary reason I don't buy yarn randomly. I'm afraid I'll have a bunch of great yarn that I won't ever do anything with. Or am I losing the idea of having a "stash"? Lol...

I'm going to jump back on the P90x rotation next week. I'm just doing some random workouts until then.

RE:

Rhonda-thanks for the info on Knitty Gritty.

I may have to learn to quilt someday as I love quilts. Although, I am not a good sewer at all.
