Knee squeak

My left knee squeaks. I thought it was my shoe, but unfortunately it wasn't. Anyone else have this and what can be done for it? It doesn't hurt whatsoever.

If it does not hurt then it's just your knee cartilage wearing thin. You can try some of the joint supplements to help lubricate the knee. Maybe get a knee sleeve and see if the extra support helps. Sometimes it's your kneecap not tracking properly.

It's always a good idea to see an ortho just to make certain but we do get squeaky with age.

My left knee squeaks, too, and it's from doing step before I realized that it was very important to keep one's legs in good alignment - doing Susan Powter in the early 90's!

Don't let the knees skew out to one side or the other, especially when doing step. The squeak still continues if I'm not careful, but keeping my knees in good alignment with my ankles and the rest of the leg helps considerably.

I find that when doing leg presses, it is very easy for my knee to skew out to the side (either way), too.

The squeak is not painful, but it is disconcerting.

Squeak

I thought I always watched out for my knees, ankles and back; careful in the placement, posture and trying to use my muscles rather than my joints, I never want to injure those precious body parts.

I think it was the aerobics and the running I was doing training for the 1/2 marathon I did in December that did me in. I'd been 'feeling' my knees for some time and I knew the marathon would decide if I ran again or not. I think I won't. It's not worth the injuries to me.

I would like to a) take it easier; b) take a joint supplement and c) try the strong knees video and see if that helps. Does anyone know a good joint supplement brand?

thanks for your input.
