Knee pain from squats & lunges

Diane...obviously my situation may not be the same as your but I went to a physical therapist to find out what my problem was as my knees would bother me. The trick for me was making sure I was getting enough IT band stretches in there and if I worked really hard with the squats I'll ice down my knees afterward. It has helped me quite a bit.

How are your shoes? I was getting terrible pain in my knees and I purchased 2 pair of shoes for Treadmill and cross trainers and I had her give me an insert and I have not had any knee pain since. Doesn't hurt to mention in case its not medical. I workout on carpet at home and had always purchased cheap shoes.

Ooops! So did I!

Watch that your knees aren't buckling in during squats and lunges (that's one culprit that isn't often talked about, but it can cause problems).

Also, coming back to do S&H legs, or any intense leg workout, after a lay-off is pretty much a guaranteed way to have your knees tell you it's too much too soon.
