KK's November Check In

Good Evening!

Today, Sunday, was my day off -- and I sit around all day on course -- but at dinner I went for a power walk, just to ensure I did some movement. Yesterday was a permix from SJP -- about 46 minutes.

Janie, what a blast!:) No matter how you start, at least you're starting. I should probably keep my mouth closed on this next subject, but it is one I had done extensive study on, so here goes. Soy is about the worst food source you can eat. It is almost exclusively GMO here in the US(genetically modified organism -- meaning it is bombarded with genes from other animal species into its cells -- or even is bombarded (each cell) with pesticides) unless it is organic. And even if organic, soy has so many anti-nutrients (phytates) -- more than any other food -- that it stresses the body to digest it. :( It is only healthful when fermented in the eastern way -- fermented slowly over the course of a year or more -- and then it is a good food , full of nutrition. Here in the West, where we want things done now, now, now, it is rarely fermented correctly. You can get it fermented this way in a product called Nama Shoyu by Ohsawa.

Soy protein powder is so full of anti-nutrients -- and the processing that is done on it to get it into the protein form, is very toxic and the toxic reminants of the process are still in the powder form. If you want more info, there's a book called THE WHOLE SOY STORY -- a very enlightening book -- or the book NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon will walk you through the ins and outs of soy and other foods, as well as educating you on traditional foods that nourished thousands of generations.

Egg white protein powder is a better source of protein powder, I believe -- depending on the source.

Okay so enough of that -- here's my plan for next week:

Mon: IMAX3
Tues: Supersets
Wed: cardio & stretch
Thurs: SJP -- premix circuit
Fri: 4DS Bootcamp cardio only
Sat: KPC -- premix
Sun: Off -- walking over dinner time.

Okay, so that's it. Have a super day tomorrow, everyone.

KK, thank you for the information on soy milk. I'm the kind of person that likes scientific evidence before I take too many things seriously. You have peaked my interest in what you say, and will follow up on your information. I went to the internet about "The Whole Soy Story" advertisement and found nothing there that is scientifically proven that soy or their products are bad for you, but is based on her research, study and her opinion. I've looked it up on Pub Med (scientific proven research and published articles) and they are saying that it is safe to eat, drink, and cook with it, this article was documented in 2008. They even say it is good for infant formula.

It's been in existence for over a hundred years here in the West, and thousands of years in Asian countries. Yes organic is better, I agree there. I'm going to do my homework on this because it is very controversial either way. Fermenting process of soy milk is interesting, I'm for sure going to learn more about that. I know temph and soy sauce are fermented but didn't know soy milk was also or suppose to be.

This world we live in now a days, is kind of scary. We do have to be careful and it is our responsibility to educate ourselves to stay healthy.

Thank you for the heads up, I'll be researching this more. In the meantime I will drink rice milk and hemp protein powder and whey protein. I already eat egg whites and I do have that in powdered form as well.

Ok, my friend, enjoy the wonderful workout you have planned for yourself this week. It looks intense, sweaty, and fatiguing. Just the right stuff to make fantastic workouts.

Oh this has been such a woooonderful day:mad::rolleyes: (that's is supposed to be a very sarcastic tone.) I'm so tired of car "things." My Audi dealer called today and there was another problem, but this time it was with the after market wheels that I had on the car. Firestone did not sell me the correct lug nuts, they are too short. So when the lug nuts are put on, if a person tries to tighten them up, they could just spin and strip out the hub. Replacement of a hub is $200.00 for my car. Firestone did not want to step up to the plate and pay for the new hub. Les Scwab did when they stripped out a lug nut. Even this time, Les Schwab said they would pay half because they did put the summer tires and wheels on in April (and in May Firestone did a balance and rotation, so they were the last to touch the wheels) All I know, is that I did not do anything to the car to "break" it. ERRRR. So I still have my rental car and the businesses are fighting between each other. I just want my car fixed. The audi dealership is caught between....the customer service manager even did a three-way call with Firestone and couldn't believe they did not want to do anything.

I don't know if I'll even get a workout in today. I've got some painting to finish up and my day is running out of time. Actually, a glass of wine and vegging in front of the tv sound pretty darn good right now.

Hope y'all are having a better day than me. At least I'm employed!

Good Evening!

Today was IMAX3 -- 8 intervals -- I skipped interval 5 and 7. 10 is my favorite. And tomorrow I have Supersets on my schedule. I love Supersets and rarely do it -- go figure.

Rhea, what a nightmare -- an absolute nightmare. It is so upsetting when you didn't do anything, and yet you're the one who's going to have to pay... Hopefully exercising can help burn off some of your frustration. And not only are your employed, but wonderfully employed (except that one guy who is trying to get you to stay off line).

Janie, research books, as well as the internet, as you're right -- there's a lot of info on it -- and because soy is one of the main products of the US, there's some info out there that's going to make it look like an incredible food. However, it has phyloestrogens in it -- that should NEVER under any circumstances be fed to babies -- especially male babies -- it can lead to boys developing "boobs" and girls going through puberty at much too young an age, etc. And yet it is fed to babies in formulas. If you really search its history, you will discover that yes, it is used in the East, but that it was used only in a fermented state by the ruling and royalty class -- and non-fermented to the pheasants -- and there is a reason for it (I believe it contributes to sterilization, but I'm not completely certain of that). The book Nourishing Traditions is a good book, not only about soy, but about food and its history, as well.

In tradition Chinese medicine, it is known that phytoestrogens say to the body "grow," thus soy should never be eaten by those who have cancer. Because I'm away from home, I forget the name of the book that I have on Chinese medicine -- but when I can I'll get my husband to look it up and give me the name of that book.

Soy milk isn't fermented, though it should be if it's to be a complete and nourishing food.:) I ignored the books poo-pooing soy for a long, long time because there's so much info out there that says it's a great food -- and then I really educated myself because of the threat of cancer -- when my BIL was sick with cancer, I researched food very, very thoroughly, reading 1-2 books a week to try to educate myself fast. Have fun with the research.

Sorry to go on and on.

Hi Jeanette! Hope your weekend was great!

Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning,
Had a nice weekend. Saturday was my birthday so we went out for dinner with family. My kids got me some new cookware. Guess they want me to cook once in a while? Sunday was a bike ride in the morning and some golf in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day. Yesterday was my rest day. Today I did Bootcamp from the Intensity Series. Actually the whole thing! Tonite is going out with a girlfriend for a drink. She will be 50 on Friday so we're going to celebrate our birthdays and to plan a girls trip for next year. Something that includes cycling, golf, hiking, shopping.

Karen, you are so knowledgeable about different foods. What a smart cookie you are! Me, I'm too lazy to research much of anything. All I know about soy is that my sister said when she was drinking it, she would have more breast tenderness. She quit drinking it and it went away.

Janie, glad you are getting to work out now. I can tell your mood is lifted!

Rhea, sorry about the car problems. I hate car problems.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good mornin all,

Jeanette, I was thinking of you on your birthday and hoping it would be enjoyable for you. What kind of cookware did you get? A beautiful day for a bikeride and golfing, can't get better than that. Bootcamp, that's a great exercise. Enjoy the drink with your friend tonite. Your sister drank soymilk, and had breast tenderness, stopped and it went away. WOW! I'm truly not having anymore soymilk.

KK, indeed you are a smart cookie, and please, go on and on, I love it! Out of curiosody, I'll be doing research though. Can't help myself, I need the knowledge. IMAX3, is hard, enjoy supersets tomorrow.

Rhea, I feel your frustrations on that car. Hope you had a great time veging out, you deserve it. It will be better.

We did the body sculpting workout today. Seemed too easy, so the next time will be a Firm workout, Vol. 1.

About a week ago, my professional wound care nurse who helps me change the VAC took a culture. She felt something was not right. When I came in today for another change, she showed me on the report that I have a bacteria that is probably causing my wound not to heal from the bottom up. She put in this cloth (that was filled with a medication called silver) at the bottom and partly on the top of my wound and ordered a different sponge with this medication on it for my VAC. Perhaps now it will heal from the bottom up. If this doesn't work they will try antibiotics. The saga continues. I still can exercise, YEAH!

Have terrific days everyone,

Janie

Good Evening!

Today was Supersets for me -- a workout I really enjoy. Well, it's tomorrow that I'm going to celebrate Thanksgiving -- with a friend. Am looking forward to it.

My Thanksgiving will be consumed with course, course and more course. Am trying really hard to get through this.

Janie, you are so right to research this for yourself. Please don't take my word for it -- read, read and read -- a very wise man once said, "if it isn't true for you, it isn't true for you.":) Goodness, I hope this saga with the vac gets worked out. Hang in there.

Jeanette, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope your day has been beautiful and bright. How was the drink with your girlfriend? Hope you had a really good time -- bet you did! Bootcamp from the Intensity series is one of my favorites. And it's a toughy. Personally I've decided I dislike brithdays nowadays -- getting up there in age, but oh well...

Hi Rhea! What's happening on the car? Hope also that work it going well.

My weight is giving me problems and I figure it will after tomorrow when I plan to eat lots of turkey. But I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Have a super day tomorrow everyone! And if I don't hear from you before Thursday, have a very happy Thanksgiving.:D

Morning,
Today's workout was the All Step premix from Cardio Fusion. Tonite is the Garage Boys spin session. After that will be making a couple of dishes for Thanksgiving. I plan on a bike ride tomorrow morning. It's a tradition now.

Karen, enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner today! Had a nice time out with my girlfriend last night. I just had one glass of wine and it was enough. We planned a trip to Bend, Oregon for next summer. Something to include cycling, golf, hiking and shopping. Should be fun!

Janie, the cookware the kids got me is by Paula Deen and is stainless steel with copper bottoms. I need to pick up some copper cleaner to keep the bottoms of the pans shiny. Glad the nurse noticed something wrong. Hope it will start healing correctly. Glad you can still work out.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Will be back later on. I think I will experiment along with the tutorial for the kettlebells this holiday weekend. May do some kind of rotation next month that combines kettlebells and Cathe. Have to do some research.

Good morning!

Jeanette - Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a great day.

I've been busy at work, but lately just trying to get the car done. I'm going to be hopefully picking it up on Friday. I don't remember if I told you that there was an additional problem with one of the hubs and that Firestone, the last one to touch the tires was being a turd about stepping up to the plate. Like I have anything to do with changing my tires! Any way, I was supposed to be able to go get it yesterday, but the poor service manager called and the parts were not getting there until today. But I can't go over to Reno today since I'm the only attorney here and have to cover for in-custody arraignments. The service guy was like, oh well, Firestone will have to pick up that portion of the rental car. I'm a little wary of going to Reno on Black Friday, but I don't think I have to do any shopping. But then again, I'll have about a four hour wait for them to finish my car (they need the tires and I'm taking them my studded tires and my original rims so I can fight with Firestone over the lug nuts)

Oh and the spasm moved yesterday to the other side, so no workouts yet. I did manage to get a lot of housework done. That seemed to help with the knot. Today all I have to do is finish the bathrooms, the living room and the kitchen. Plus I need to make some pies. I would love to get a workout in today. I think it would be okay. I was not too stiff this morning.

Well, I had better run (on the office computer) Have a great weekend and I'll try popping in later. (Maybe while I'm at the car dealership!!)

Good Evening!

Well, I'm up to the place in my course where I have to work with someone else -- it's called twinning (where you work back and forth on practical sort of stuff) and so am having to change my schedule from weekends and evenings to 9-6 M-F. It'll be a big change -- mostly I'll have to change my whole life around -- I exercise in the morning, but I won't be able to now because I live on the 2nd floor and I can't exercise that early here -- it really carries down below. Plus, I usually take Georgie out for his walk in the morning -- late -- I'm going to try to get him out in the very early morning.

Goodness. But this is good -- I'm getting close to the end.

Today was BM2 cardio only and then because I ate lots today, I did HSTA cardio only at 6PM

Jeanette, that's quite a workout you did today. How was the spin? That's great that you got the Oregon trip all planned. Nice to have that to look forward to. Enjoy your bike ride tomorrow.

Rhea, what a nightmare with your car. Sometimes I wonder if it's more painful to have a problem with your body or with your car. Gee, I hope that you get your car back and working well on Black Friday. I'll be spending my Thanksgiving and Black Friday on course.

Janie, hope all is going well with you.

Well, have to get going. Lots to do to get to bed so I can get up and get to course on time. Deep breath.

Have a super Holiday!:D

Happy Thanksgiving!

KK, Twinning doesn't sound like fun, but if you are nearing the end, that's good. With all the rescheduling you have to do, I hope things fall into place quickly for you.

Rhea, cars and spasms, not good. Hope everything turns out for ya. I need to clean my house too. After this holiday, I will.

Jeanette, Did you enjoy your traditional bike ride? Do you like kettbells? I bet you are cooking with your new set of cookware about right now.

Have a couple of minutes today to post. Wanted you all to know all is well. Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving. Black Friday I will find some mailing boxes and send you the soap I've promised.

Janie

Good Evening!

What a day. The first day on the new schedule was okay, but today was tough. Yesterday's workout was Bootcamp from 4DS (done in the evening) and today was circuit workout from Blast series. (SJP premix).

I'm putting in a little more time on the weekend, as well -- tomorrow and then I'll take off Sunday as my day off. Not used to the 9-6 schedule, though it was my working schedule for most of my life before I became a writer. Just tough, but oh, well... I want to get home so badly that any extra time is good.

Janie, you are so sweet. I'm glad to know that you are doing well, also. How was your Thanksgiving this year? I wish you health and happiness, darlin'.

Jeanette and Rhea, I wish you much happiness this weekend. Black Friday is one of my favorite days to shop and so I did miss it this year.

Have a super rest of the holiday!:D

Good Evening!

Today was KPC premix -- about 46 minutes, I think. And then course all day -- am taking tomorrow off to catch up and get ready for the week ahead cause I'm now going to class 9-6 PM M-F. And then also I was on course all day today. Am trying to put in more time in the hopes of coming home soon.

Am doing pretty well -- love having Georgie here -- he's become my best bud.

Hope you are all doing well.

Have a super day tomorrow.:D

Mornin,

Joey and I did Total Body Sculpt yesterday and I'm ready to do one of Cathe's older steps. Don't know which one yet. I just ate so will be doing it in a couple of hours.

Had a lazy great weekend with Joey and our little animals. Oh, I didn't eat all that well this weekend (shoot). Joey and I are going to a play to see Stardust. While we are out and about decided to go to a restaurant. Now is my chance to order healthy food.

KK, are you having a great day off with your bud, Georgie? Hope so, poor thing. Aren't animals wonderful?

Rhea, Jeanette, hope all is well, I'll check back later on tonight to see how ya doing.

While we are out and about I'm sending packages of soap your way. Enjoy.

Janie

Good Sunday!

Looks like everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Karen - you sound like you can be home soon. I sure hope so, I know how tough it is to live so far away from home (or DH)

Got the car back, whew. Car dealer just billed Firestone. Next I'll have to write a letter or something regarding the rims that I have that really don't work for my car. Or at least the lugs don't work. One more thing for me to do next week. Oh well.

Not much in the area of workouts. I did workout on Thursdays, but.....I must have overworked something in the hip. I'm really, really tight and have a nice medium sized knot on on the top of my back hip (you know, right above the rear cheek, close to the small of your back) Neck and shoulder are still tight, but much better. I was thinking of trying to workout today, but I don't want to stretch it too much and have it cramp again. I'll have to see how it feels later. I'm a little hesitant to workout. I might just wait one more day and go for it Monday.

Well, I suppose I should go get those bills paid. First of the month again...rats.

Good Evening!

Gee, Rhea, a medium sized knot on your hip sounds kinda painful. Is it? I can understand why you wouldn't be exercising if you have this on your hip. Glad you got your car back. What a hazzle. I am looking to go home either by the 1st of January or within the month of January. I'm near the end of the course.

Stubbed my toe on Friday and amazingly, I have a bruise the size of about 1" square and then about 2" going off from it. It's painful -- have to wear shoes that don't push on it -- and I'm exercising in my stocking feet.

Janie, am glad that you and your DH are exercising again. Must feel good. Yes, Georgie is really a Godsend.

Hi Jeanette!

Okay, so for this week, here's the plan:
Mon - Fri -- CTX series
Saturday might be legs from CTX series or maybe something else. I really need short workouts this next week as my schedule has changed and I have to be up at 6 AM each day. Goodness!

Have a super day!:D
