KK's July check-in

Good Evening!

Been a busy day. Whew! Workout consisted of going heavy on Total Body Sculpting -- heavy for me that is.

Starting to get back into my actual and real schedule -- so hopefully I'll get more done and eventually I'll be able to do workouts over 30 minutes. But it's still not to be for now.

Good to see you back, Janie!:D

Have a super weekend!

Good Evening!

Gosh, I can't believe how busy my weekend has been -- no workouts for me -- just run, run, run all over the place. Can't believe not a single chance to workout.

So I'm posting what I plan for the week ahead:

Mon: 4DS Bootcamp cardio (anaerobics) only -- fast twitch ii muscle fibers
Tues: Total Body Sculpting -- slow twitch muscle fibers
Wed: Hiit workout -- fast twitch i muscle fibers
Thurs: Boot Camp -- Intensity series -- slow twitch plus fast twitch i muscle fibers (1/2)
Fri: Boot Camp -- same (second half)
Sat or Sun: Drill Max -- cardio only (anaerobics) fast twitch ii muscle fibers
Sat or Sun: Off -- rest

Hope you all had a great weekend and that the coming week will be terrific.:D

Good Evening!

Today was the anaerobics from 4DS Bootcamp. Tomorrow is the Total Body Sculpting. Boy, getting back into things isn't the easiest thing to do.

Seems I'm kinda here by myself. Rhea, Jeanette, Janie, hope you have a super day tomorrow!:D

Had a fantastic time with my family. They decided to stay through Tuesday afternoon. They just left, and no one to talk to it seems. Miss them already.

We ate fairly well, except the evening we had pizza and ice cream.

We did all kinds of sister stuff, talking, hugging, stories, catch up, memories, and wonders. Lots of movies, shopping...

Tomorrow we will do a workout, and next week we will go to the ocean some time.

Seems you all are doing pretty good with your exercises. Very proud of you.

And it seems you all are staying out of trouble.;)

Take care and have a great evening.

One of my sisters has two small dogs and brought them with her. Rolly was in seventh heaven. He especially loved the the younger doggy and obeyed the older one. They played hide and seek, pull a parts, wrestling, barking and getting into trouble. All was great.

Good Evening!

Janie, I have a sour dough starter that I use to make a high protein bread (a friend of ours calls it Bible bread) -- Ezikiel (gosh never could spell it) -- but it's a pretty easy starter that uses no yeast (but what's in the air) to get started.

I'm using a starter from it right now actually to make some more loafs.

Today wasn't a good day for me. Too busy and missed workouts completely -- and now I'm tired, of all things so I'll probably go to bed without a workout -- so I'll put my workout schedule back a day, I guess.

Hi Rhea, Jeanette! Hope all is going well for you.

Wonderful that you had such a great time with your sisters. Wow! What fun! I didn't know that they were visiting -- but I know you were glad to see them all.

Have a super day everyone! :D

Did TBS as a warm up and then MM. Took Rolly out for a walk.

KK, I make wild yeast for bread baking as well. Right from the air. Was wondering if you'd like to trade a wild yeast with me for a Bible bread yeast. I'll give you one from where I live. It's called Little Island Lake. After I get mine going, I dry it on parchment paper very thinly and let it dry overnight. Then it's ready for shipping. Want to? I just put it in a very small plastic pouch and send it in an envelope. I use the latest stamp on the envelope. It works every time.

Being so busy as you are, must be exhausting. Do get some rest and have sweet dreams.

Hi Jeanette and Rhea. Hope things are good.

Good Evening!

Hi Janie!

Okay, so let me make sure that I understand how you do this. Right now I make the yeast/bread right from the air -- get that all bubbly -- make the bread (I save a cup of it to start the next batch). Is that the part that you dehydrate (I do the same thing with so many things -- dehydrate them on parchment paper.)
\
If so, sure, let's trade. So mine is definitely a protein yeast -- however you spell that man's name from the Bible, Ezikiel -- I really have to look and see the correct spelling. So yes, that would be great. So the yeast will have (just so you know) some rye, kamut, buckwheat, barley, lentil and black beans as the flour. I never use soy for reasons we've talked about before and the Bible only says "beans," not specifically soybeans. So I usually use either black beans, navy beans (cause they're white) or aduki beans. Those are my favorite.

I have a batch I'm working on right now which should be "done" tomorrow and then I can save out that cup and dehydrate it and send it along.

Things are still really busy, but now that the tour is almost done, things will settle out, I think...eventually. I have to keep writing, though. Did you know that Barnes & Noble is now up for sale? And Borders is hanging on by its fingertips. Goodness!

Today was 1/2 of Bootcamp -- tomorrow will be the rest of it. Missed yesterday -- just too busy yesterday.

Cathe's new workouts look great -- and it's a terrific price. Am hoping to be able to preorder before she ends the preorder. I so love her workouts.

Hi Rhea and Jeanette! Have a super day!

KK, Yes the bubbly culture is what I want, but don't dehydrate, just put about a tablespoon on parchment paper thinly and the next day check to see if it is dry. If it is by all means ship it to me.

I'll send yours out tomorrow or when you pm me your address. I have it somewhere, but can't remember at the moment. I'll pm you my address as well.

Thank you so much KK, this is great. I collect as many as I can from anyone who will trade with me.

It's sad to see many company's I know so well not in business anymore.

Great job on part of Boot Camp. Not easy by far.

I did pre-order and my # is 63056. Looking forward to the pictures and the process of getting them. Yippeeeeeeeeee!

Tomorrow I have planned a cardio and a walk with Rolly.

Hi all!

Sorry been MIA, but I was sort of on vacation (planned time off), but it really ended up not a vacation. DH's dad had what they thought was a heart attack last Thurs and was care flighted to Reno. He was doing good but then Sunday am he has a massive stroke and has been in ICU ever since. Not sure what the prognosis is, but the MRI showed that his left half of the brain is pretty much gone. Also not sure how much that means, I'm getting my info from DH. I was not able to go with him to hospital yesterday. Suffice it to say that we've been at the hospital almost every day since last Friday. For us that is a three hour round trip drive (no rooms to stay in Reno as it happens to be a huge event there this week, Hot August Nights, car shows, etc) I had to go back to work today, so I won't be able to visit again until Sat. At least today he is a bit more away and responding to DH's questions by squeezing his hand or nodding his head. Sort of a rough time.

I have been keeping up with the exercise and the eating despite all that has been happening. Talk to you later.

Good evening!

Rhea, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Yes, this is definitely what I would call a tough time. My heart and my prayers go out to you and your husband and your FIL. Hopefully he will recover and will be able to recover the use of that part of his brain, too. I hope.

Well done for keeping up your eating and workouts. I know it's not easy, so well done to you and hope you'll be able to continue. I've slipped on the eating part -- we're also going through some tough times at the moment. Sometimes the workouts help me keep going, and work off some of the stress.

Janie, okay, so I don't use a dehydrator -- just put it on some parchment and let it sit the night through? About how much do you use? A cup -- a 1/2 cup?

Great on getting your workouts in too.

Today was the last part of Boot Camp -- tough workout, but it was only 1/2 of it so it wasn't bad. Tomorrow is another anaerobics day.

Despite all that may be happening hope you have a super day tomorrow. :D

Rest day for me today.

Rhea, I'm so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Rough times for sure! My prayers and (((((HUGS))))) to you and your family. Very surprised you are still doing your exercises. Probably the best thing you can do for yourself.

KK, 1 tablespoon of the culture should be all that I need. I found your address and sending it to you in the mail tomorrow. I'll PM you tonight to give you my address just in case you lost it.

Yes, just air dry overnight. If it's spread out thin enough that's all it should take.

Good going on the last part of Boot Camp.

Take care,

Janie

KK,

Although I already sent your starter, I need your address again. My mind is truly going. I set your address aside, and for the life of me, don't remember where. I would like to have it again, for Christmas card sake and other stuff, like this.

Sorry about that,

Janie

Good Evening!

Janie, I've been wanting to get on the forums and tell you (I've had a major busy weekend with book signings and stuff) -- that my mix molded. It's the first time it's ever molded -- and I can't figure out what I did wrong. Have you ever had this happen?

I'm right now sprouting some more rye to start a new batch (I only use sprouted grains) -- and so hopefully I'll have a whole new batch in a week or so -- it takes about that long.

But anyway, have you ever had that happen before? I can't for the life of me figure out what I did wrong.

I'll PM you with my mail -- Janie, I do this so much, too. But then I notice that my daughters do too and so I don't feel as bad.

Today was Hiit Pyramids, one of my favs. I'm going to post a schedule to keep, also.

Hi Rhea! How is your FIL. I have been thinking about you.

Okay, so here's the plan workout wise:

Mon: Hiit -- Pyramids
Tues: Total Body Sculpting
Wed: 4DS Bootcamp -- anaerobics only
Thurs: SJP from Blast series
Fri: Core Circuit
Sat: Sprint outside or Hiit or Drill Max
Sun: Off

Anyway, Janie, I'll Pm you. Have a super day everyone!:D

Cardio day for me and Rolly. Will be walking/speed walking him soon.

KK, I've been very fortunate and never experienced mold in my starter. And I've never sprouted anything to make bread. Please, (only when you have some extra time), will you send me directions on how to do it, or perhaps a site on the internet on how to do it? I'm looking forward to it in a couple of weeks. It's so kind of you to do it. Will be looking for your address then. Thanks a bunch.

Looks like a wonderful schedule. It should keep you in shape for sure, and it looks fun! Great job on your workout.

Hi Rhea and Jeanette, miss you. Wondering how your lives are doing, are you happy, sad, enjoying the Summer...?

Janie

Good Evening!

Hi Janie!

Sorry I've been absent for a few days. And I forgot to email you personally, too. Life gets so busy sometimes. I didn't even get 25 minutes to exercise yesterday.

But I did today. Tomorrow will be the 4DS and then continue with the rotation.

Sprouting is easy. I have guides, too. There's a book called THE RAW GOURMET by Nomi Shannon. Now while I don't agree with everything said in the book, they have some terrific recipes and sprouting times. There's also a phamplet from raw glow that goes into sprouting and that sort of thing. www.rawglow.com

It's pretty easy. I have a large supply of wide-mouth mason jars. You put your grains to be sprouted in there -- fill with water and let it sit 6-8 hours -- drain and then let the grains sit for 2-3 days usually, washing them 2-3 times a day. That's really all there is to it. I have a dehydrator and so after they're sprouted, I dehydrate them and keep them in the freezer until I'm ready to grind them into flour. They just keep longer that way. You don't need long sprouts -- sometimes -- especially on spelt, you'll only get a tiny, tiny tail. That's good enough. But the book THE RAW GOURMET goes into how long you keep them in water and how long you sprout them and how many times a day you wash them.

The advantage of course is that all grains, seeds, beans and nuts contain anti-nurtrients (nature intended it that way -- it's why cows have 3 stomachs instead of one) -- and so putting them in water and sprouting them kinda begins the digestive process and gets rid of the anti-nutrients -- sometimes called phytates -- and so then you get all the nutrients from the grains and they act differently in the body. You can sprout beans, too, and I do that, also. Here at home -- not on my sour dough -- but on my other breads, I also ferment the grains in kefir for a day. Again, it breaks down those anti-nutrients even more -- the anti-nutrients keep the body from absorbing minerals and such.

Just finished sprouting the rye -- it didn't sprout very well, but at least they were soaked. They're in the dehydrator now and then I'll make the flour and begin the sour dough process all over. I don't know what I did wrong with this last batch. I'm going to watch it very closely this next time.

Anyway, have a super evening! : )

Hi Rhea & Jeanette!

KK

Thank you for all the details about sprouting and the link. I will go there as soon as I'm done posting to you.

I've sprouted before but not the extent as you do. I would love to try to make that kind of bread. I'll look into The Raw Gourmet book.

I know you are really busy, and I completely understand. I'll get your address when you can send it to me. Just try and get some rest when you can.

Take care,

Janie

Walked Rolly today for about an hour. He just loved it. And before that, Joey took him out for a very short one. I'm getting ready later today to do a cardio workout, just don't know which one yet. Have to look through them.

Note: I watched Food Inc. yesterday with my Joey. It's about our food supply, what they (companies) are putting into it, hogging, monopolizing the food industry right from under the farmers, treating animals, workers, and us the consumers with no respect at all. Hiring illegal immigrants while they work for low wages, and after being here for 10-15 years, boarder patrol was called in to ship them back to Mexico. They (companies) hire the poor uneducated, for low wages and with no benefit or a union and take advantage of their circumstances to have to continue working or lose their jobs. They are a dime a dozen and can be replaced. The companies are usually based within a 100 mile radius of poor people just for that reason. They don't know any better.

We can fight back (vote as you will) with our money, purchasing wholesome healthy food, buying from USA, passing laws, (if I knew the ins and outs of the law, I would be more of an activist and help out). Please watch Food Inc. you won't believe what is happening out there. We are watching through a veil (as the show describes) and little by little, as things pop up in the news, the veil is loosing it's layers. Example: E Coli and deaths of our children, chemicals in our food, remember the incident of Oprah being sued by the beef companies, farmers not being able to grow their own seed...It scares the hell out of me. There is much more to it, you just won't believe what is happening out there.

Have a great day,

Janie

Hello there!

Haven't been able to really post for a while, but have been "lurking." I'm trying to get back into the swing of things here at work, but routine is hard when you still can't be routine...does that make sense? Until we stop going over to Reno so much, it won't be routine. At least I've been getting some good shopping in....hehe...well, may not be good for my pocket book.

Looks like you are all busy too. Wish I have a little more time to cook, but that is going to have to wait until the house is done. Permits are issued, bank docs are signed, now we just have to build. Yippee!!

I'm on day #86 of the 98 day challenge. I probably will just keep going since it has really "whipped" me into shape. I won't reach my ultimate goals by the 98th day (knew that before started) so I'll just keep plugging through.

Well, lets see today is a longer workout day since I need to do both cardio and weights. STS #28 is in store, so I'll probably plug in a short cardio before and maybe even some abs since I tend to forget them if they are not included on the workout dvd.

Have a great rest of the day!

Joey and I walked Rolly for about 30 min. before it got to hot outside.

Rhea, I've missed seeing you and Jeanette. Summer seems so busy for everyone.

Congratulations for almost finishing your challenge! Way to go!

Janie

Did Travel Fit, MMA Boxing-Heavy Bag bonus, and walked Rolly 30 min. Burned a total of 622 calories. Won't be able to do this everyday, but had lots of energy today, so I took advantage of it. Ate clean.
