KK's January 2010 Thread

Hi,
Today was Disk #3 from STS - Legs. Housework and other stuff the rest of the day. I want to start another quilt tonite. A different method than I've done before so I'm hesitating to start. Just need to "just do it".

Tomorrow will be an STS Shock Cardio, hmmmm, maybe CCC or 40-20. We'll see how brave I feel.

Good Afternoon!

Hi Rhea & Jeanette & Janie!

Today was Cardio Core -- only the last 3 intervals -- which was challenging enough. About 34 minutes which is a perfect time for me on the weekends. No workout yesterday -- romance writers meeting.

It's housework and other work for me for the rest of the day, also. A different way of quilting, huh? I do understand the hesitation -- I do that also when I'm writing something a little different.

Have a super day everyone!:D

Good evening,
Today's workout was Cardio Core Circuit, which I enjoyed. I was surprised that I could do most all of the core exercises. And the cardio wasn't as hard as I had feared. Anyway, it was a good workout. Think I'll tackle the 40-20 one sometime this week.

Did some housework today and watched golf, not much more than that. Lazy day. Was going to ride my bike but it's still so dreary and damp out. Tomorrow is a rest day for me.

Karen, I think there is a premix on the Cardio Core Circuit, an express one. I forget how long it is, but you might look at that.

Must run,

Yesterday was a rest day for me and I took it. I needed it. Went to the movies, saw Avatar, beautiful color in that movie, wow. Today will week #2 of Meso 2, Disc 17?, maybe 18, I've lost track. I'll have to check my workout manager calendar. Whatever disc it is, it is chest, shoulders and triceps.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Hi,
Today was STS Disk 4, Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. A goody. Tomorrow will be a cardio workout, probably one of the new Shock Cardio workouts. Also got in a walk with a girlfriend during my break.

Rhea, I'll have to see Avatar someday. I've heard good things. Watched a Narnia movie last night on TV.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good Evening!

Hi Rhea & Jeanette & Janie!

Okay, so I've been a little sick lately. A bad cold. Yesterday, despite the cold I did 1/2 of ME -- which I haven't done in quite awhile because of the time aspect. I loved it and boy am I sore. Then today I was going to do another STS cardio, but I'm actually pretty sick today, so I took the day off. Don't like not working out, but there you go.

Am still afraid to get on the scale. Am trying to cut way back on my eating, so I won't shock myself when I finally get up the courage to weigh myself again.;)

Am writing and writing and writing and trying to envision new stories. Studying the books that others write and that sort of thing. Am enjoying that part -- I get to read alot.

Anyway, tomorrow I plan some cardio -- hopefully I'll be up for an STS Cardio. We'll see -- and then the rest of ME the next day -- it works out to about 40 minute workout that way, each day. Not too bad. And it gives me another weight workout besides the Today Body Sculpting.

Have a super evening!

Hi Karen,
Sorry to hear you've been under the weather. My DH has a bit of sniffles too, hope I don't catch it. I hear you about not wanting to get on the scale. I think I went a whole year not getting on it. Yep,I was in denial. I'll not do that again. I think weekly weighing will keep me in line. Actually, I didn't gain any weight, but my body composition changed. I lost some of my arm muscle definition and my middle got softer, lower body jiggled more, etc. Must be the beer I drank after golf, huh?

Anyway, take it easy and recover, or keep the intensity of your cardio down. Glad you are enjoying the research. Take care, Karen.

Jeanette

KK - hope you are feeling better today. I"ve been lucky this season. Take care.

Jeanette - the after golf beer can add up! I dread the weigh in days so much that I've been skipping them too. I have to stop that though. Err.

Okay, so yesterday was Step Moves and today was Disc 16?,17? Whatever the second week Meso #2 legs disc is. I actually got up this morning to do it since I have a massage this afternoon.

Well, better get back to work. Talk to you later.

Evening,
Today's workout was Shock Cardio MMA Boxing. It was fun and not too too intense. Tomorrow will be STS Disk #5 Back and Triceps. Did an easy walk with my girlfriend during our break. She's recovering from knee replacements done last year so I can't go fast, which is okay.

Rhea, hope the massage was wonderful. Or is it one of those painful experiences? Darn it on the beer. I love having beer after golf on Saturdays.

Hi to Janie and Karen,

Good Afternoon!

Can hardly believe I forgot to check in yesterday. I did one of the new step workouts -- the shorter one -- and enjoyed it very much -- although I'm surprised I didn't trip over my feet as they kept trying to get down that footwork. : )

I shortened even the shorter workout to 35 minutes. Just tough for me to get in more time right now. But hopefully, I'll get back onto a schedule that is better soon. Life is still extremely busy right now.

Today, am planning to do the rest of ME that I didn't do the other day. I still love that workout and it really did make me sore -- so maybe it's good there's 3 days between the first one and now the second.

Rhea and Jeanette, I am so in line with you on the scale thing. I was weighing myself daily. Not now. I'm just not up to the upset.:p

Hi to Janie! Hope that you're doing okay with all that's going on in your life right now. Stay in touch.

Have a super day everyone.

Hi all!

KK - you must have done Step Moves I think that is the name. My third round on that one and I finally got the moves down pretty well. I just have to remember not to fully turn on some of the stuff and I'll do better. I actually had fun with it the last time.

I did Core Cardio whatever today. Wow. All the high impact moves I don't like (air jacks, lots of jumping) and the core work I did not particularly like either. The rolling ab stuff hurt my back (not injury, just hard wood floors, thin mat and HR monitor strap buckle in the way) Well, it could have been that I was barely awake too. LOL

Massage - depending on the day after....sometimes great....sometimes so much crude in me nasty. Felt great right after, I had tons of energy for some reason. But when I slowed down, I crashed.....zzzz. Hard to get up this morning.

Well, back to work.

Hi,
Yesterday's workout was STS Disk 5 Back and Triceps, and today's workout was STS Cardio 40-20. Boy, I sure welcomed those 1 minute breaks in 40-20!!! It was a fun workout. After that, I did the stability ball abs workout from STS Abs Circuit, which I really enjoyed. After some housework, I got in 9 holes of golf.

Karen, you sound like you are very good with your time management. Me, I can waste more time on this darned computer or reading or playing with the dogs. I think any length of workout is good.

Rhea, glad the massage was good. It's been ages since I had one. Maybe some day I'll treat myself.

Have STS Disk 6 Legs for tomorrow. I, yi, yi.

Good Afternoon!

Okay,so are you loving the rain? It's just started here and in truth, I am really enjoying it. : )

Rhea, Yes, Cardio Core has alot of those moves in it, doesn't it? I noticed that I tended to -- gosh, what's that called -- modify it a lot? I think my favorite of them is the pyramid cardio -- for me the 40/20 was the hardest -- or maybe I was just out of shape that day. But I was really sore afterwards. Hope your back isn't giving you problems, Rhea.

Jeanette, thanks for your kind words. I do try hard, but I, too, have noticed that the internet is a time soaker-upper. Especially Facebook and all I do on Facebook is answer people's questions. : ) Anyway, today is my rest day -- yesterday was the FIRM #4 -- 42 minute all body and cardio workout -- plus, I love those 20 questions are exercise at the end. I find I listen to it every time.

Have a super day. Life continues to be busy and I don't see any let up -- in fact, I think it might get much busier as I now have to write and write and write. : )

Have a super day! :D

Morning,
Today is a holiday and a rest day for me. Let's see, Saturday was STS Legs, Disk 6, then Sunday was all of Athletic Step and part of Step Moves, followed by STS Abs - Weights and plates. I also played golf on Friday and yesterday.

Weather is a'coming. I was supposed to go to Chester to pick out some fabric with a friend today, but I weinied out as I have a fear of white outs and am thinking it could get bad by this afternoon coming over the pass. Oh well, some other time. Have a quilt to sew on that I cut out last night. I abandoned a wallhanging project that was just not right. It was supposed to be a kaleidoscope type, but I picked the wrong fabric. To finish it seems like a waste of time as I'll never display it. Oh well, live and learn.

Karen, I thought 40-20 was tough too. I'm all about modifying as believe me, my heart rate is high enough. To me, that's the point of these HIIT workouts, getting the old ticker up there for short periods and recovering. My sister lives in Atascadero (by San Luis Obispo) and says the rain has started there too. Are you writing a new book? What is it about?

Hi Rhea, have you been to Laura Roberts shop for fabric? She's got some nice stuff there.

I see you all are doing very well on your exercising and diets. Now, I need to do the same thing. I will most likely do stairs today for about 30 min.

Precious Mom:

Got to Mom on Friday (1/8/2010) around 8:00 pm. Greeted everyone and went to Mom's room. Saw right away she was breathing with an opened mouth. Was afraid to hug her, didn't want to hurt her in any way. She had her eyes open, so I just stroked her face and told her I was here, and was so glad to see her. That I missed her so very much and love her.

The atmosphere was a mixture of emotions. Laughter, crying, snapping at each other, sorrow and much faith that God's will be done soon, so Momma wouldn't suffer.

A little history of Mom. She loved to sing and she was very good at it. She had nine of us and so we got to know some of her favorite songs she used to sing to us. Now it was our turn to sing to her. Everyone was there except two of the nine, for reasons of there own, but I know their spirits were with her. Also during her years with Alzheimer, never once did she forget Dad. She always knew and recognized him. Isn't that amazing!

We sang, prayed, touched her warmly, talked to her, on how great a mother she is. She was my hero. The best Mom anyone could have. Always was there for us, taught us right from wrong, and loved us unconditionally. A true Mother always. I've been so lucky to have such a mother. All of us we found out, knew that we were her favorite. How cool is that? To find time for each and every one of us and to make sure we understood with certainty that we were loved.

We stayed up very late that night then made our beds. We girls all slept in the same room together, and boys had a room of their own. Chatted, laughed, told funny stories. Then finally just couldn't keep our eyes open any longer.

The next morning we all noticed Mom was breathing deeper and heavier. From the top of her nose between the eyes down to her chin, was pasty looking. I knew (from taking care of a few elderlies) that was a sign that her death would be near. All during the day her eyes were never opened and she continued to breath deeper and longer, faster and louder. We all said our good byes and how proud we are of her. That she can let go now if she wanted to.

Near 7:00 pm we knew the end was any moment now and Dad came in and started praying The Lord's Prayer. We all joined in. As soon as she heard Dad, she opened her eyes and looked right at him. You could see she was trying to smile at him. He put his hand on her forehead and I put my hand over his and he told her that he will be with her very soon. That she was the greatest little girl he's ever known. We all told her, not to worry about Dad, that we would take care of him. Dad again said that he would meet her there very soon. A few more breaths while looking at Dad, she closed her eyes and died.

All her children, if not physically then by spirit and husband was with her, she was not alone and she was so loved, not only by us, but by anyone who ever met her. She had that charming way about her. It was the most beautiful death I've ever witnessed.

They took Mom away about an hour after she passed.

Believe me, I'm going to miss her with all my heart, but I also know that everyone has to go sometime and the way she went was wonderful. I hope I can go like that as well someday.

The next day, most of us went to Sunnyside to prepare her to be buried there next to one of her son's (David, one of my brothers) and her parents and in-laws. All very close to one an other.

We had a day of viewing and prayed a Rosary for Mom on Friday (2/15) in the Funeral home. Then she had a Mass for her on Sunday (2/16). And then went to the cometary through the town of Sunnyside with a police escort. Said our last goodbyes and went to a place for a final gathering with friends and family. We ate, had fond memories. There was a picture show that my niece had put together, showing Mom very young, meeting Dad, pictures of their wedding, each child she gave birth to, right up until her final days. That was really hard to take, but was needed to start the grieving process.

Now for the grieving part, which sucks, but I'm doing better as the days come and go. There are good days and bad days. My dear Mommy, I'm missing her so much.

I hope you all remember to hug your loved ones tight and make sure you tell them you love them.

Good afternoon Janie. That was a wonderful story. Glad to hear that it was peaceful and full of family and love. Your mom was very loved. HUGS to you for your loss.

Good Evening!

Many hugs to you, Janie. She had her children with her at the end and her husband, too. And he said some beautiful things. That's important.

I'm glad you were there for her and that her children were, too.

Another post.

It rained here like mad today. And we discovered some leaks in the house. Nothing like rain to seek those out.

Jeanette, sometimes, I'd just rather stay home and do things around the house than go out in bad weather. There's something very cozy and warm about being at home when the weather just doesn't cooperate. I'd probably have stayed home, too.

I'm writing synopses and chapters right now that my agent can shop. I've written one so far and am at work on another -- I have another in the works also, but that one needs some research and some work -- and then I'll send that off to my agent also. They might want a whole book, and if so, I'll then be working on the full book. But for right now it's chapters and synopses.

Rhea, how are you liking the weather. I hear we have more in store. In truth, I'm enjoying it, although too much of this could stiffle that, I think.

Today was Hiit 40/20 -- and yes, I think that's the hardest workout of them all. 20/20 is a good one and so is the pyramids and cardio core. All four of them really are the anaerobic ones that get that heart rate up there, then down, then up, then down, etc. It's one of my most favorite types of workouts.

Have a great night and a super rest of the day.:D

Thank you so much for all your support. It truly helps the process of grieving. You all are awesome people.

Oh, Janie, my heart goes out to you in this time. I too, like others on here, was wiping away tears as I read this. Amazing, the way your Mom always recognized your Dad. By you sharing this on this forum, you have reminded many of us to get in touch with and show appreciation for our own loved ones. God bless you, Janie. Big, big hugs to you, my friend.

Jeanette

KK
, We've seem to find leaks every year. Such a nuisance.

Sounds like you are doing well with your chapters and synopses. Hope you will get a full book out soon.;)

Did Swing Sensation by Core Rhythms. My legs are sore. Eventually though, those DOMS will kick in.

Take care everyone and have a great day.
