KK's August Rotation

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!:)

Am late checking in again. Another busy day -- yes, I do seem to stay busy, that's for sure. Did a short cardio and stretch today -- the first part of Body Max -- really like that workout, but the whole thing is 90 minutes and so I have to make room for it.

Natalie, I can't imagine doing Bootcamp back to back -- I suppose it's something for me to work up to though. It's become one of my favorite workouts, actually. I think you're wise on the run, then power walk -- especially in humid 85 degree weather.

Jeanette, how was your ride tonight with friends -- bet it was fun. Kick Max sounds like a great workout -- next week I'm going to have to put in KPC and then maybe the week after, Legs & Glutes. Also doesn't seem right that the % of body fat is going up -- so I think you're right, Jeanette.

Anyway, sort of forget what I have scheduled for tomorrow -- oh, yes, it's HSC -- or I might insert KPC -- just to do the workout, since I've already done HSC. We'll see how I'm feeling in the morning.

Great workouts, everyone. Have a terrific day.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Good cardio workout this morning: Lowmax, always makes me sweat. Had a good bike ride last night with 2 girlfriends, 31 miles. We all pushed pretty hard.

Karen, hope you like KPC and Legs & Glutes. I do like these and the premixes are good too. Think I get to do HSC next week on weeks 3 and 4 of the Hardcore fatloss rotation.

Good for you, Natalie on the Bootcamp workout. I havent done this one enough, it is tough but fun. Know what you mean about the heat. Really saps a person's strength. Rhea, have you done Bootcamp x 2 yet?

Have my 1/2 hour run tomorrow, with Coremax afterwards. Actually, looking forward to it. Think I will drive to a place with trails to run on. Think that will make it more interesting and less jolting too.

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning all!

Looks like everyone has been keeping quite busy. I ended up going to Reno yesterday with mom-in-law. So no workout. I needed the rest anyway, my legs are a bit tired. Especially after the KPC and stability ball section of PLB, gets the hamstrings nice! Today is extreme housecleaning, maybe a workout if I can get it in. The house is the first thing on my priority though. Whew....I keep doing the start one thing...go to another room, start another, forget what I was doing, not very productive!

Have a great workout everyone!

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!:)

Oh, Rhea, you made me laugh. This sounds like me housecleaning, as well. I swear, I need a list -- and tic off each thing as it's done...

Sounds like you had fun in Reno. Ah, Reno is a nice city.

Jeanette, your bike rides sounds like fun. And how was the running today? Did you go on some trails? That would make it more interesting -- but do you go with someone? Just a thought -- you know, to be safe and all. Listen to me, do I sound like your mom yet? But safely should be planned a little, perhaps, when you're running, cause you're more vulnerable when on the ground than a bike, I think.

Sorry about that. I think it is the mom in me.

Okay, so I did KPC today and I LOVED IT!!!! I even was smiling as I was doing it. What a great workout -- and I didn't even mind the time -- 68 minutes -- it went by fast. I can tell that this one is going to be a part of my rotations now. And the premixes look really good, too. You can shorten up the workout, which is really good. I'm thinking that maybe this might be classified as a full body workout, as it does work your legs and arms and upper body, too...just differently. What do you think?

I love these DVD's -- so many options.

Oh, tomorrow, I plan to do sprints. If it's too hot out, however, I'll probably do IMAX, the original. I'm hoping that today was more of an endurance workout than an anaerobic workout so that I'm not doing anaerobics two straight days in a row.

Well, hopefully tomorrow will be my last day of scheduling and I'll be able to get to these revisions -- and taxes -- must get my taxes done before I go on tour. I have to itemize everything, so it's always a chore. Pant...pant...

Anyway, happy workouts everyone. It's your day off tomorrow, isn't it, Jeanette. Have a great one.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie,

Yes, Karen, it's my day off. I love the 4-10 schedule (4 10 hour days a week), though I do have to get up pretty early to get my workout in. Fridays, however, I get up with DH at 4:30 a.m. and then get to veg for a while before I work out.

Today was my 1/2 hr. run with Coremax afterwards. I drove to a local recreational area set up for walkers, runners, bikers and horseback riders (Rhea, it's Susanville Ranch) and ran for 40 minutes. It was much more exciting than the street as it goes up and down and around. It was easier than running on pavement and gave me more to think about. Thanks for the concern, Karen. There were other runners along the way and I ran out in the open (under trees at times) so never felt in any danger. This might be something that my DH would want to do with me as he used to run when he was in high school. Tonite, though, after he gets off work, we're going to a local rail/trail to ride our bikes and take the dogs. I bought drinks and snacks for afterwards. Have to promise him beer at the end of a ride to get him to go with me. When he goes, I let him pick the pace the whole way, thus making it more fun for him and less like a workout. The things we do for love... sheesh!

Tomorrow is Muscle Max, though I think I'll bite the bullet and do Bootcamp as moral support for Rhea and Natalie. Don't think I'll do it 2 times, but you never know.

On Sunday, our bike club is doing a Progressive Dinner Bike Ride. Will be around 30 miles long, with stops for appetizers, salads, main dish and finally dessert. Door prizes at each stop too. We're only expecting 20 or more but that's okay.

Karen, I'm glad you liked KPC!! I think it's a lot of fun and the premixes with Legs and Glutes are awesome too. Think you will find it useful.

Oh yeah, something nice. I've lost weight with this rotation. Next 2 weeks it changes up, adding in High Step Challenge and a HC Extreme workout of choice. What is HC Extreme? Guess I'll have to do a search to find out and then substitute if needed. I've been eating pretty clean all week too (though the Progressive Dinner Bike Ride may undo me).

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Feeling great today, suprised cuz I ran for 40 minutes yesterday and had only run the first time 1 week before. The easy bike ride last night with DH and the dogs probably helped. Anyway, no soreness at all this morning. I will be careful not to push the running too hard as I'm just a beginner runner.

Did Bootcamp this morning. Guess my fitness has improved because it sure wasn't as hard as the other 2 times that I've done it. Could even do all of the thrust climber terminator thingies. Yahooo! Didn't feel like doing it twice though. Want to get cleaned up, go to the Farmer's Market and then do some yardwork. DH went wood cutting with a friend today, but when he returns, think we will go look at tractors.

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Hi Karen, Rhea, and Jeanette,

I am still on track with the August rotation. Actually the hardest day for me has been the KPC + Kickmax blast section. Today is supposed to be 3 mile run + Leaner Legs but my husband just left on a business trip this am, so will not be able to run as no one to keep my son - thinking about substituting with 30 minutes of Step Blast.

I finally ordered a new Cathe DVD yesterday. I decided on the Rythmic Step, IMAX, MIC because I really need to aerobic only tapes. Can't wait to get them. Does anyone else have them?

Natalie

Hi Natalie, Jeanette & Rhea!:)

Busy, busy, busy. But finally got the tour scheduled -- a couple more people to call, but that's all -- plus, I got out all my postcards and letters to readers (it's about 2200) -- and it's done now. Deep breath. After I finished getting out the last of the letters, I came home and went to sleep...:+ Amazing how tired this all makes me.

And today did the last little thing on the tour -- making reservations -- so at last can concentrate on revisions and taxes. Somehow I don't think those go together.

Okay, anyway, Natalie, you so inspire me -- you and Rhea both -- doing this rotation. Now, I have all three of those workouts and of them all, I like IMAX the best. MIC I've only done a few times and it's a terrific workout, and I think you'll really like it, especially when you're looking for more cardio -- it really delivers that.

Jeanette -- CONGRATULAIONS on losing some weight. Way to go! Just keep it up. I'm battling with 5 pounds right now -- a couple comes off -- goes back on -- I need to eat cleaner, actually.

Oh, and the spot where you run sounds beautiful -- and safe -- this is a good thing. You made me laugh when talking about what you do with your husband to keep him working out -- nothing like a beer. Yes, you're right. The things we do for love.

How was your bike ride today, Jeanette? Bet it was fun.

Anyway, am going to post my rotation for this next week. Oh, on Saturday, I needed to do a workout for strength -- but had an ear infection and so did the shore 32 minute workout on the premixes on HSC -- it was a good workout and tapped each muscle group, believe it or not -- had me sweating.

And on Friday, I did a sprinting workout.

The ear infection is better, but I might take it easy these first few days. Want to keep the cardio high since I'm trying to lose some weight.

Monday: IMAX2 -- only because I love this workout so much.

Tuesday: ME -- if I'm up to it

Wednesday: Cardio and stretch

Thursday: HSC -- maybe only the 51 minute workout of it -- we'll see

Friday: Running sprints outside -- am going to try to get up to 15 - 30 second sprints with about 1 1/2 minute walk back between sprints.

Saturday: Bootcamp or Circuit Max or KPC -- don't want anaerobics after the sprint -- so I think any of these would be good

Sunday: Off

Have a great one -- and terrific workouts, everyone.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Well, hope everyone's weekend was good. Karen, hope the ear infection is better. I remember having one as a child and it was miserable. Boy, you sure have gotten a lot done on your upcoming tour. Will you be gone all of September? Hope you will be able to check in with us, wouldn't be the same without you ;(

Yesterday, I didn't do a workout, but in the morning did an 18 mile bike ride with the purpose of getting coffee and it was very nice, nice temps in the morning. At 2 p.m., we had 18 riders for our bike club's first Progressive Ride Dinner. We did 35 miles altogether, stopping 3 times for appetizers, salad, lasagne & bread and ending at the starting place with homemade berry and apple pie with ice cream on top. Wish I could tell you guys that I was good and held back, but no, I enjoyed every bit of it, especially the pie! Course, I peeked at the scale this morning and was actually down a pound from yesterday. Go figure.

This week's rotation will be Week #3 of the Hardcore Fatloss Rotation:

Monday: High Step Challenge. Did this one today, it's fun and a good workout. I'm sure feeling it in my shoulders and the hover squats at the end are a killer. Great workout!

Tuesday: Lowmax

Wed. HC Extreme workout (do you guys have any suggestions as I don't own this one?)

Thurs.: Kickmax

Friday: 30 minute run, plus Coremax 1 segment

Saturday: HC Extreme workout (different one than on Wed)

Sunday: Rest

I'm going to eat clean again this week. Seems to really be the ticket with the extra cardio.

Once again, what can I substitute for a HC Extreme workout? Combination of several workouts? Any help would be appreciated.

Take care today and good workouts to all!

Jeanette

Hello!

Hey Jeanette, the Hardcord extremes are just combilations of the other workouts. If I remember correctly, one is two sections of Low max and then a section of IMAX3. Or something like that. I could try to remember to look for you when I go home for lunch.

Karen - you are just too busy on that road trip. Wow.

Well, I've fallen off the rotation wagon. That super power house cleaning did it. Then we left for a little road trip. But all that rotation did was help me gain more weight. Of course, I haven't been eating very clean. I'm still very unhappy about the gain though. Over the past two years, I've put back on almost 15 lbs. Err. So, I'm just going back to some plain ole cardio and strict clean eating and see if I can get all the toxins out and back on track. I think I have to cut back on the higher intensity while I clean up the eating at first. Lots of water too.

Well, I'm back at work, so I had better get something accomplished.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Rhea & Jeanette & Natalie!:)

I wish I could help with the Hardcore extreme, but I don't know what it is and I don't have it. If you look at the DVD section of Cathe's site, she often describes what's in all the workouts and maybe she has done that on the Hardcore Extreme.

Actually, Jeanette, your bike ride sounds wonderful -- a lot of fun. I've been falling off the clean eating wagon lately, too. That trip to Reno had me eating things I don't normally eat -- and it's been hard to get back on, but I must. I, too, have put on some weight -- 5 lbs -- but I'm so small, that 5 lbs makes a difference. So I'm going back to clean eating, and fairly lo carb, as that has worked for me in the past. So I understand the frustration, Rhea.

The other thing that really helps me with my weight is water -- if I can only remember to drink that 1-2 cups BEFORE a meal.

Luckily I got this computer that has internet access -- my other laptop was so old, it didn't have the internet and they no longer made a card that would fit it...

And the hotels where we're staying (except for the first 2 nights) have computer access -- so hopefully, I'll be able to stay in touch. I'm hoping to also hook up the DVD player to the computer (I need some software to make it work) so that I can do my Cathe workouts on the road. That would really be great -- and is making me wish I'd bought all my Cathe's in DVD form.

Oh,well...

Okay, so I did IMAX2 today and it was a bit of a struggle -- I know it's cause the body is still not quite over the ear infection. Tomorrow I plan ME, but I'm also planning a bit of cardio to go with it, as I, too, am trying to lose some weight.

Yes, the tour is really going to keep me on my toes... And we didn't list all the stores we'll be dropping into -- just those where we're signing. And it's coming up soon. Yeah, we'll be gone throughout September and part of October, but again, I'm hoping to stay in touch. Also this new computer I have is faster than my regular computer -- that is very cool.

Well, I must get to bed -- it's up early to get to the revisions for the new book -- and of course get the taxes done in the evening. Sigh...

Have a great day and great workouts everyone.

Hi Rhea,
Thanks for the info on the Hardcore Extremes, checked the DVD description and confirmed what you said. I'm hoping someone comes up with a mish-mosh, but I don't want to be swapping DVD's in and out. Don't mind tacking one on after the other though.

I'm sorry about you gaining weight. Sometimes it seems like the harder we workout, the more we have to. Where does it end, ironman competitions? I'm doing the Hardcore Fatloss Rotation and that's helping me. Also the running is helping too. Shhhh, don't tell me body, I don't want it to adapt to the intensity.

Yep, clean eating is the ticket, but it takes a little bit of time to see the results and I must be patient. Stay with it.

Jeanette

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Hope everyone's having a good start to the week. Yes, Karen, the bike ride was a lot of fun. It's really a nice group of people I ride with, age ranging from 30's on up to 70's. Goes to show that cycling is easy on the body impact wise. Plus it's fun!

Did Lowmax this morning. Don't know what it is about this one, but boy do I sweat when I do it.

Am running a bit late this morning. Will focus again on clean eating and drink more water. Am feeling really good.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie,:)

Did you get the info you needed, Jeanette on the Hardcore Extreme workout? I saw your posts, but since I don't have the DVD's I can't help.

Well, after all that on clean eating, I went off a bit today -- but jumped back on this evening...so...

Did ME this morning. Good workout. I always feel so good after that workout. Tomorrow is cardio and stretch. Always look forward to that.

My weight is giving me some problems right now, too, but I know that I've been cheating a bit on my diet and so I need to get back on track. In the meantime, I've added more cardio to my workouts to try to help burn off a bit of the fat.

Well, off to bed for me -- get up early and work out and then to work

Great workouts everyone.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was supposed to be HC Extreme workout (which I don't own), but did Imax 2 (intervals 1-5) and Lowmax (intervals 4-7) and Kickmax blast challenge (probably 5 blasts) with a stretch afterwards. Total time 70 minutes. Boy, I sure worked up a sweat! Tonite I lead the beginner mtn. bike ride so will get a bit more exercise.

Last evening, DH and I went for a run. He probably hadn't run in 35 years and did fantastic as he's fairly active on his job. We ran for 1/2 hour on a local rail/trail, with a couple walk times interspersed. It was very nice, beautiful scenery and our dogs had a great time. Afterwards, he had a beer and I had an iced tea. He even made the comment that we should do it more often :7

Rhea, hope you are back on the exercise/clean eating wagon. Are you still doing the August rotation? My hat's off to you!! That's a tough one!

Take care all!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Actually, no more August rotation for me. I'm slowing down. I think with the heat and the intensity of the workouts, all my body is doing is saving up the water. I haven't worked out for a week now and my body is finally starting to lose the puffiness. Of course, I am eating better and it started to go away faster. Even the dreaded weight in the afternoon at the doctor's office (you know, all clothes on type?) was not bad. So I'm going to start adding back in some of the lesser intense cardios for a while and see what the ole body does. Plus, with the sudden "detoxing" I sure my body is doing, lighter workouts.

Well, gotta run and get back to the grindsone, I'm actually getting things acomplished here today. Wow, what a change. ;)

Hi Rhea & Jeanette & Natalie, ;-)

Good day today. Got alot done. Was up early and got into revisions before the day really hit -- and worked on taxes tonight.

Today was cardio and stretch for me. Did again Body Max -- first section -- love that workout -- and the first stretch on Stretch Max. Am seriously considering getting the beginning DVD for my daughter. Actually I think I will -- just need to check if they'll send those to hers -- and then I'll order another DVD -- cause of free shipping. Wow, the idea of ordering another DVD is exciting...

Was the bike ride fun today, with the beginners? I'm so impressed that your got your DH to run with you, too. That's so fun. By the way, Jeanette, this rotation you're doing looks really good.

Rhea, so sorry you were keeping on the water weight -- but it looks like you're got a handle on it now. Let us know how the lesser intensity workouts go and all.

Gotta admit that my weight is fluctuating up and down a bit too much -- I'm sure it's the stress -- but the stress isn't going to go away, so...

Well, tomorrow is a circuit workout for me -- I think I have HC planned, but it could be any of them -- Bootcamp or Circuit Max or HS Advanced.

Happy workouts everyone.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

It was supposed to be Kickmax today but I subbed KPC with abs and really enjoyed it. Love the motivating music and Cathe's demeanor in this one, really makes me work hard. Also did a 14 mile mtn. bike ride last night with 2 new people. They both rode pretty hard so it wasn't an easy ride.

Rhea, keep drinking lots of water and take it easy for a while. Know the heat makes me swell badly. Haven't had that problem this week, for some reason anyway. I know with the bicycling, the muscles seem to absorb the fluids while riding and it can take a few days to have it leave the muscles. Does this almost every time I do a long, hard ride. In fact, who'd think that your weight could be up after a 100 mile ride? Mine and most cyclists I know hae this happen, but the weight leaves within a few days. Something about the muscles holding onto the water.

Karen, I like the circuit workouts too. What do you think of HSC? I've only done the whole thing once and liked it. Boy, no chance of us getting bored with our workouts. I've been emailing my sister in Atascadero each morning to help her (like we do for each other here). She goes to the gym and does a Curves type of circuit training thing 3 days a week, but don't think she gets the cardio she needs. She also does an 8 minute (yes, that's right, it's a Jorge Cruise program) weight workout each day. We're watching this week to see if she can be down a pound with the clean eating and then possibly change things up for her. Wish she'd get the Cathe workouts, but I don't want to push.

Well, good workouts everyone. May ride my horse tonite, I sure need to. 30 minute run tomorrow with corework afterward.

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette, Rhea & Natalie!;-)

Well, I didn't get a workout in today. Got involved in other work cycles and kept thinking I'd get it in and never did. So I've decided to make this a day off and change my day off from Sunday to today... Sigh...

That's interesting what you said about the muscles retaining water, Jeanette -- I wonder if that's why sometimes, after I use a weight workout, my weight is slightly up? It doesn't stay up, but sometimes it's slightly up.

Today was a good day for clean eating for me. But not workout, so it will be interesting to see how the scale is in the morning.

I love HSC -- it really burns my calf muscles, though. I think the cardio is harder in HSTA -- but I think the weight sections and sculpting sections in HSC are just as hard, but I have to agree with the others that HSC is just more fun.:7

Really like KPC -- I do, however, consider that not only a cardio workout, but sculpting workout as well cause of all the leg drills and arm drills -- just different sort of full body workout. I am trying like mad to load the DVD player on my new laptop -- so I can play Cathe's while on the road. So far, each day I need some other sort of softward. Sigh...

But hopefully before I hit the road, I'll have it.

Well, tomorrow is HSC or KPC for -- and then Saturday I'll do either sprinting of one of the IMAX's for anaerobics.

Have ordered two more books -- one on diets (love reading about this) and one on nutrition -- about soy -- there's some negative press on soy, so I thought I'd read up on it and try to educate myself. Plus, I got something for my cell phone that's supposed to take away a good deal of the radiation from talking on your cell phone -- something I do alot. We'll see.

Anyway, have a good day, everyone and terrific workouts.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

My day off today and DH wants to go jog together tonite after he gets off work (his idea:) ), so postponed my 1/2 hour run until then. Instead, I did Cardio & Weights this morning. It was a fun workout. Glad DH wants to go run. I'll have the ice chest and dogs packed and ready to roll this evening. Looking forward to it. Hey, I'm as surprised as anybody!:)

Hope you had a good rest day Karen. Sometimes we just have to be flexible and rearrange our schedules. Glad you like HSC and KPC. I think I like KPC more than Kickmax, but maybe it will grow on me. The two are just quite a bit different from each other. With the chaptering on these DVD's, you can sure mix and match to get whatever kind of workout you want. I'd read that HSTA had endless leg presses so that kind of scared me off from getting it, but I also hear it's very good too, with the premixes and all.

I do feel leaner and less puffy these last 2 weeks for some reason, think I was maybe eating too much of my yummy oatmeal, sugar free syrup and peanut butter. I've really got to control this PB addiction!

Must go, great workouts everyone. Oh yeah, I have a longish (70 mile with climbs) bike ride on Sunday. Looking forward to it too. My next organized century ride is in Yreka, CA on Sept. 10th. It's a beautiful ride.

Jeanette
