Kitchen remodel advice please....

We are having our small kitchen redone by Lowes. We've ordered our new cabinets and quartz counter tops and have the new lighting picked out. I'm so excited. The cabinets are cherry wood with cinnamon glaze with aluminum pulls. Counter top is called royal teak with neutral tans, greens and browns.

We will be also updating the stove and microwave. My fridge and dishwasher are only two years old and I got them in solid black. I feel if I get the stove and microwave in solid black that may be too much in my small kitchen, that has an open floor design into the dining area and living room. I've been looking at stoves that are stainless with black hoping that will break up the look of the heavy black fridge.

Should all the appliance match exactly? Or do you think I can get away with a solid black fridge and a stainless and black smooth top stove and microwave? Love to hear your thoughts please!!!

Thank you. Carmen.

We just replaced all of our appliances. Everything is black except the stove, which is stainless with black accents. The black stove was not in stock, so we went with stainless. It looks fine to me. They don't 'match' per say, but they do coordinate. I would have went with a black stove if it had been in stock, and I think that would have been fine also. However, my cabinets are a light birch so that may make a difference.

You might try to do a google search to see if you can find any pics of kitchens with cabinets and appliances similar to what you are looking at buying. It may help you decide which way to go.

We just renovated our kitchen too!

I replaced my double oven and microwave, but kept the dishwasher because it wasn't that old. The fridge stayed too, but we put on wooden panel fronts that match the cabinets since it's a built in. Could you do new panels on the front of your fridge? (Or do the sides show?) My new ovens and microwave are stainless, but my dishwasher is still black. It looks just fine! My countertops are black granite, so the dishwasher kind of blends in. Also, my stainless ovens have a lot of glass in the front, so it isn't a huge expanse of stainless.

The only thing that might prevent your black fridge from looking right is that it is such a big expanse of black. What color are your countertops? It really would be a shame to replace your perfectly fine fridge just because of its color. If it ends up really bothering you being black, and a new front panel wouldn't solve the problem, you can always look into painting it. They make appliance paint now that looks like stainless. I have no experience with it, but it might be a solution.

Enjoy your new kitchen! I am loving mine! So bright and new, and my new double convection ovens are a dream!

ETA: They also make a stainless colored film that you can apply to appliances. I've seen it done on dishwashers, and I'm not sure if a fridge would be too much of a project, but you might look into that. I think Lowes carries it, actually.
