kickmax leg portion

Has anyone else experienced lower back pain with this part of the workout. I used good form and my lower back is still killing me! I don't think I'm going to do this section anymore.

I didn't have any problems with my lower back (if you bend your standing leg does that help with pain?), but I don't do the leg section anyway. I don't see the point, to tell you the truth! I like the Bootcamp premix, where you do the blast first.

I don't have KM anymore, so I can't address that workout specifically, but when I was first starting out doing kickboxing, I had a workout that had similar drills in. It did bother my back some. I think part of it is maybe overstretching? Try doing it while keeping the kicks lower and see if that helps. I suspect that maybe the leg-held-forward moves might be more problematic (that position seems to put more stress on the lower back in me). Also, make sure to "tighten your corset" (an image that helps me keep my core strong) so that your ab muscles help support your back).

Did you do that portion after the rest of the workout? It's also possible that you strained the lower back a bit during the previous moves, and it didn't "kick in" (no pun intended), until that section.

I can feel it in my lower back when I'm doing the exercises, especially the roundhouse kicks, but other than a bit of good muscle soreness, my back doesn't bother me.

I guess the obvious question is are you sure you're not leaning over too far or standing too straight? You do need a lean on these, but you shouldn't be parallel to the floor. I find the straighter I stand, the more I feel it in my back and obliques. And is the pain you're feeling sore muscles or just a sore back. You know - a good pain or a bad pain.

When I first started doing Kick Max it happened to me, but my endurance has improved 100% and I now do this portion of Kick Max with other workouts 2-3 times a week. It is important to keep your abs engaged and not lean too much at the beginning. Your form will improve if you keep up. By the way, the first time I did Muscle Max the core section killed my lower back. I even had to rest for two days straight! But I do Muscle Max now without any problems.
