Kickbox

Iam thinking about ordering kickmax as an add on to the beginner rotation I would like other peoples opinion on whether this is a good next addition.

I think you'd be better off with Kick, Punch and Crunch. It has the added bonus of having Legs and Glutes on the same DVD. Have you done kickboxing before?

The Kicking and Punching combinations in Kickmax are by far the easiest of all Cathe's kickbox. BUT the Intensity section is the TOUGHEST--15 minutes of 10 intensity drills with very little recovery between. The first 4 drills aren't too bad (by comparison), but there are some doozies in there. The plie squat drill isn't as bad as IMAX3, but KM has the longest power lunge drill of any of Cathe's workouts. The leg conditioning drills are really great. It also has an EXCELLENT warmup and cooldown.

Even though the intensity drills are truly advanced, the rest of the workout isn't. You could adapt it to a beginner rotation by doing just one or some of the intensity drills and working up. Many people like the premixes.

Kick Punch and Crunch is absolutely my favorite, however (out of KM, KPC and CardioKicks). It is truly fun for me. I do KM (without combination 1-3) because it is a great workout, but I don't love it. To be honest, I do the intensity drills periodically because I NEVER want to have to work up to them again! I don't dread them anymore, but I don't enjoy them, either.

I noticed that my library system was FINALLY getting some Cathe workouts. You might try your libray and see if you can preview.

I have not done kickboxing unless you call turbo jam that. I was going with kickmax because I do not own a high step, but after veiwing kpc I think that looks like fun and the ab work is tough.
