Kettlebells?

I would like to see more websites too!

Missy,

Check out www.crossfit.com as they have some kettlebell demos. Also, if you go to their affiliate page and go to New Jersey and click on the first affiliate under New Jersey (Jersey Shore) you will find some great kettlebell workouts as well.

My friend and I left a fitness bootcamp that we were attending and now workout together at the park using kettlebells. I have found some great workouts on that site.

You've gotten lots of good info here. I'll just throw in that if you're on the East Coast, Perform Better (http://www.performbetter.com) has VERY reasonable shipping rates on their KBs. For me it ended up being cheaper to buy them online from them, than to buy in-store at Dick's.

I bought two KB's (18# and 26#) a few months ago and the shipping was about $14.00 total.

This is a redo (exact same exercises and sequencing) of Anthony Diluglio's "Providence". Anthony and Beth both lead it. The advantage it has over the original Providence is that there is a tutorial segment showing how to do all the moves. I really like it (but I had no idea who Beth Chamberlain was)!

Gayle,

I just wanted to say that I love the picture you've got on your post - is that your boxer? I have two boxers and so I always love to see them!!

>www.irontamer.com - You can download a free booklet called 101
>Kettlebell Workouts. It's awesome, and contains enough
>workouts for a year!

??
All I see at this addy is some kind of index, nothing on kettlebells.

I just did my fist kettlebell workout yesterday. I got a 10pound to start out with. Oxygen had a full body workout in the June issue that I did, I can feel it today.

I highly recommend watching some video demo's rather than just going by still photos. Form is cruicial with KB workouts, and hard to pickup just from pictures. www.artofstrength.com has a lot of excellent video clips showing different moves.

Trish,

Glad you enjoyed your first kettlebell workout. They can be quite addictive. Have fun!!

Can someone point me to the workouts on IronTamer's site and the Ironcore site. I can't find them.

thanks,
Lora

Lora,

I have these sited bookmarked, and here's the URL's I have. For Iron Core, try http://ironcorekettlebells.com/WordPress/. It will say Iron Core Blog. For Iron Tamer, go to http://101kettlebellworkouts.com/ It will ask you to create a user account, and then you will be send the download for a booklet of 101 Kettlebell workouts. The booklet is awesome - I've used it sooo much! You will also get occasional newsletters from the guy who owns Iron Tamer, and they are also pretty informative.

Wow....thanks for the above. I really like IronCore's site....but what if you don't know how to do a particular exercise like Ball Slam's? Is there anyway to look at a picture?

Also, on Dave Whitley's website, I don't see anything about Kettlebells when you click on the Irontamer site. What's that about?

He has a new video coming out soon. I love him. I have his first Power Circuit DVD. He's cool!

There aren't a whole lot of KB instructors with a great personality. I'll be glad when Amy's KB workouts come out. I hope they are tough.

Right now, my fave's are Anthony Delugio's Providence & Newport and Keith Weber's Extreme Cardio Kettlebell workout.

Sarah Lurie's have always been a bit too easy for me.....but I found a new way to do them that is slightly better. During the breaks, I do kickboxing moves and it makes for a better workout and then I usually add on Sling Shot Catches, Hot Potatoes and Around the Body Passes since those are some of my favorite moves.

Lora, you don't like Firepower from Anthony? That's my new favorite! Otherwise I like the most what you like also.

Newport and Extreme Cardio KB Workout are my favorites too! I agree with you on Lurie's workouts also - I have to do something during the 30 second breaks to consider it a workout. I think she shows great form, just too low intensity for me.

Did you find the link to order the kettlebell workout book on Whitley's site? If not, let me know and I can try and send you the link directly (I think I still have it saved in my docs.).

>Also, on Dave Whitley's website, I don't see anything about

It looks to me like he no longer owns that site, and it's used now as an index to other sites.

I've only done Firepower once. I'll have to try it again...this week. Friday's have been my Kettlebell days and I also just got the Kettlebell workout as a bonus when I purchased Turbunce Training. Will have to try that. They have Smoke Intervals where you run on a treadmil or a track and do swings every so often!! Smokin', huh???

If you want to email me the link to Dave Whitley's workouts, my email is [email protected]

thanks everyone.

Could you give more info on these two workouts?
How long are they? What types of moves?
Do they use one or two KB's of the same size (I refuse to buy duplicates, so prefer workouts that use 1 KB at a time, otherwise I have to modify).

Keith Weber's workout lasts about 45-50 minutes. There isn't a warmup, so do something to get yourself warmed up before you start. There are 6 different segments: Man Maker, Upper Body Blast, Leg Burner, Swing Workout, Slingshot, Turkish Getup, Core/Stretch. The Man Maker has about 5 different exercises - swings, snatches, windmill, thrusters... The upper body is great - cleans, presses, clean and presses, snatches, bicep curls, one-arm rows, upright rows, pushups. The leg burner kicks butt! Overhead squats and lunges, tactical lunges, squat kicks, bodyweight squats... Your legs are burning when you're done. The swing workout is primarily swings, snatches, high pulls, clean and presses. Slingshot is tough - you do squat presses, presses, swing-catch-squat-presses, and between each round of 10's you do slingshots. The core workout lasts about 10 minutes, and hits every core muscle. Also, you only need one KB for this one.
