Kettlebell Your Way vs AOS Providence

Hey Everyone.

I recently purchased and LOVE Kettlebell Your Way to a Perfect Body. I have heard that it is a remake of Anthony's AOS Providence work out. Here's my question...is it worth it for me to purchase AOS Providence as well or are the work outs SO similar that it would be a waste of money? Thoughts?

I plan on ordering Newport and Firepower at some point for sure!

Thanks!:)

Thanks for asking this, Wendy! I had been wondering the same thing!

I'm thinking of trying out your all-KB rotation once I finish up my current rotation. I was checking out The KB Goddess workout yesterday, but the two-KB thing is just so dang cost-prohibitive!x(

Can I ask you ladies? What are the advantages of a kettlebell workout over traditional weight lifting with Cathe? Do you prefer one over the other? Could you tell me why? I am wondering if this is something I should think about....hmmmm...

Thanks,

Clare

I was thinking the same question as Clare. I have all my weights and tons of weight lifting videos(soon to have STS also). Wondering if kettelbells is anything I really need or not.

I started doing kettlebells for a change of pace and to give my sensitive rotator cuff a break with some functional training. I ended up loving the workouts themselves. They get my heart rate up and I'm working my entire body. And I've gotten *a lot* of definition out of it. My abs are starting to show some life and I've lost a few pounds (of fat, hopefully ;)).

I'll probably stick with this for a little while until I hit a plateau.

I've been working out with kettlebells for 2 years. I didn't see a difference until I upped my kettlebells workouts. I've seen a big difference in definition, strength and overall endurance. My abs have never looked better.

With kettlebells you can work your entire body in 30 - 40 minutes. Not only are you getting a strength workout but also a cardio one as well. I still do traditional weight workouts (I like to keep my muscles confused) but adding kettlebells has just taken my workouts to a whole different level. Overall I feel more fit and lean than before.

Thanks Jane and above poster. It is an interesting concept and I am intrigued. Oh no! Going to have to go and buy more fitness stuff now!

Where do you get reasonably priced kettlebells? Are Target ones OK?

Thanks for your words of advice,

Clare

Hi Clare,

I got mine from Target :). The only thing that bugs me is they have 10# and 15#, but not the 12#, which I suspect I need at this point. The 10# is slightly too light for me now, but when I used the 15#, I almost strained my shoulder and lower back (not good!).

But even with the 10#, I'm getting one heck of a workout.

Hi Clare,

Like Jennifermaria, I got both of mine at Target. I started with the 15-pounder, and bought a 20-pounder soon afterwards for moves like swings, which work your legs a lot more.

I haven't been using mine for very long, but decided to try it out just to change things up. They really are a lot of fun! The KB Way workout that Wendy first mentioned is a great first DVD to get to learn proper form on the moves.:)

Hi Jane,

Can I ask how often you do your workouts? I remember you said that you make up your own circuits, but I can't remember how many times a week you said you use them. I'm thinking of trying out an all-KB rotation, like what Wendy is doing, and am curious about the results. Thanks!:)

Hi Leanne,

I'm doing kettlebells about 3 to 4 times per week. I do crossfit type workouts that always include kettlebells. Sometimes I do them as a circuit such as 45 seconds of work/15 seconds of rest for so many rounds or I'll do a bunch of different exercises for so many reps. I even took the concept of Cathe's boot camp and made it up as a kettlebell workout. Often times I throw in some jump rope, burpees, squat jumps or mountain climbers in between the kettlebell work.

I also have Providence, Newport and Keith Weber's workout but since it's been so nice outside, I'll been doing my own workouts in the backyard or park.

HTH,

Hi Jane,

Thanks so much for your response! Your workouts sound great! I think that I will try out a KB rotation. They're so much fun to play with, and I'd love to see the results I'd get.

Thanks!!

Claire & Jess,

I look at kettlebells as another way of training to keep things fresh & fun. They do work you differently. For me personally, it complements traditional strength training but would not replace it.

I've purchased bells at Target and Dick's. Since the equipment isn't cheap, I would go with Target because of the return policy. Try it for 30 days, and if it's not for you, you can at least recoup your $$$ for that. Anthony Diluglio's site features a ton of free videos to help you get the form.

I purchased my kettlebells online at Perform Better and Dragon Door. When I started purchasing them Target wasn't selling them and I don't have a Dick's nearby. I have kettlebells ranging in weight from 10lbs to 35lbs.

Leanne!!!!

I went to Target today and did it! I bit the bullet and purchased my 2nd 15 pounder as well as the 20 pounder. I can't wait to do the KBG work out again now that I have a set to work with and the lower body exercises are going to be even more AWESOME with a heavier bell!}(

Oh, Wendy! You're seriously tempting me to get that second 15-pounder!;-) That is so awesome -- and I know you will really like having the 20-pounder! You'll feel the workouts in your legs so much more! How great!! :)

Stop it you guys! Oh boy, here I go again! I am finding that the 15#er is tough for many of the exercises but agree I could use heavier for two arms swings, squats and so forth. Wish they weren't so darn expensive! Now, I want the workouts Wendy mentioned above. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!

Oh, Deb, I know! Now I REALLY want a second 15-pounder -- so I can get the workouts Wendy mentioned! This is a bad addiction, huh?? Have you been playing with your Sarah Lurie workouts a bit more? How are you liking them?:D
