Kettlebell workout recommendations

I've been reading the posts--I did a search. I'd love something different, and kettlebell sounds so fun. Could you guys recommend a w/o that someone new to kettlebell could start out with, yet wouldn't be so easy that it would become a waste of money? Could you also recommend what poundage to start out with.

Now I know why I sometimes stay away from the forums: Everytime I get one, there is something new I want to buy and try. And I haven't even checked out the Cathe gear yet!

Thanks guys,

Elsie

I like Anthony DiLuglio's "Providence" workout for something that would be hard to outgrow. He re-made it with more instruction (I think) in the DVD "The Kettlebell Way". I know a number of people on this forum like it.

Check out his site at: http://www.artofstrength.com/

The Kettlebell Way: http://store.beacon-fitness.com/servlet/-strse-1/The-Kettlebell-Way-cln--Volume/Detail

A forum search on either of those titles should turn up a lot of info.

ETA - The recommended starting poundage for women is 8kg - 12kg. I started with both of those back in February and just added a 16kg KB to the mix.

I just got my Collage catalog and see that The Firm is offering a kettlebell kit (includes 5lb k-bell) and workout. I've always liked their stuff although I don't have a lot of the newest stuff.

Hi Elsie;

I just got an 8kg kettlebell and Lauren Brooks' DVD (Cynthia posted the link, above) and I really like it. At first I thought it would be too easy (both workouts are pretty short), but by the end of the longer workout I was feeling pretty thoroughly challenged.

Next I'm trying the Art of Strength workouts (mentioned above)...and the Kettlebell Goddess workout with Andrea DuCane. Ummm...and any other ones I can get my hands on. I think I might have a problem!;)

Get 'em all, cause you are gonna love these things. Seriously though, Lauren's might be a great place to start, along with Providence.

Tneah's right -- these workouts are so much fun! Lauren's or The KB Way/Providence (with Beth and Anthony) are good ones to start with; I'd recommend just getting one of them since both strike me as more beginner-friendly.

Once you're ready to take it up a notch, AOS Newport (on sale right now at performbetter.com) and The Extreme Cardio ( http://www.dragondoor.com/dv052.html) workout are awesome!
