Good morning Kettlebell group!

I'm interested in getting started with this and will be purchasing the video from Lauren Brooks. Just not sure what weight KB to start with?

I would say I am a *medium weight* type lifter in regular dumbell workouts 12 lbs for biceps, 20 for back, 8 lbs shoulders... etc.. so looking for what you might recommend I start with for a beginner KB?

I'm looking forward to trying this.

Good Morning Ladies!

My inner things and biceps were sore from Lalofit yesterday. I did Altar of the Heart today!:D I held headstand for 21 seconds (a new record!) and did lotus on both sides. I feel like I'm going to be sore the rest of the week. I went real low on the squats yesterday and that's probably why.

Forever 39 - Welcome to the group! I would consider starting with a 15-20# kettlebell. You can progress very quickly with weight in kettlebells so you don't want to start too easy. I started with 20# and it worked fine for me. For 15-20#, you can look in Target or Sports Authority and actually see how they feel. Lauren's workout is more of an endurance workout so you might want to start with a lower weight for that. Something like AOS' Providence is more of a strength workout, so you could try a little heavier. For things like Turkish Getups, you might even try to do them without weight or a low weight so you can get your form correct before progressing to heavier weights. Lauren's is a great workout and she does have a tutorial so you can get the form down properly.

Deanie - Great job with Bertha! The rain has subsided here and things are okay by me.

Have a great day! BBL!

Hi Everyone,

I had a great swim last night. It might be my last one for the year. :(

Today I doing the following workout.

40 Squats
40 Box Jumps
40 Swings
40 Sit ups
40 Ball Slams
40 Walking Lunges

Deanie ~ I'm glad you had an easier time with Bertha today.

Marcy ~ I'm happy the rain is subsiding. We have been dry as bone down here.

Forever 39 ~ I agree with Marcy on starting at 15 or 20#. I started at 20#. I have kettlebells that range in weight from 10# to 44#. I use the lower weights to do over the head moves and double arm moves. I think you will love kettlebells.

Hi everyone. KM and working out was a fail due to asthma. This weather is really messing me up:mad:. It is still bothering me today. I hate to have to go back to daily meds but if something doesn't change soon, I guess I will have to.

Deanie- Good workout today and glad you had a good weekend.

Forever39- Welcome! I started with a 15 and a 20 # KB. I now have a 15, 18, 26, and 35 #. Don't go too light when you start out. You will find that you will quickly outgrow it.

Marcy- Lalofit sounds fun. Way to go on the headstands!

Jane- Last day of swimming:(? Sorry to hear that. Good workout this morning.

Gayle is probably getting her voice back.

Jane - Sorry this will be your last swim for the year!:(

Farmer - I was off daily meds for almost a year but I have to say since I've been on Advair (since March), I feel a lot better. No need for a rescue inhaler. I got the prescription and never even had to use it. I also survived fine until the fall/winter months and then I fell apart. I know you don't want to but maybe you should start your meds again.

Tonight is swing class.
