Good morning!

DH, Rascal and I spent last week in the Acadia region of Maine. We had beautiful weather, spent a lot of time hiking, eating lobstah, drinking the local brews, staring aimlessly out at the sea...a good mental health week.

I'm getting into back to school mode this week, too. I work in higher ed and our new students arrive on Thursday...chaos!!! Where did the summer go!

Deanie - Mega ^^^5's on the deadlifts!!! Awesome work! Sorry to hear about jury duty. It's been a while since I had jury duty, but I do remember some people having their kids there during the selection process. You never know, their presence may give you a better chance of being excused from a jury. Thanks for the review on Power to the People...I'm seriously thinking about getting this.

Rhonda - Toronto sounded like a lot of fun! I love your KM story. Many condolences on your inservice week...blech.

Marcy - I think Terminator Climbers are worse than burpees sometimes. How was the rumba workshop?

Waves hello to Jane, Tammy, Laura, Melissa and Andilynn!

I'm starting the Rachel Cosgrove deadlift program again this week (Mondays & Thursdays). I'm also planning to work in more strength stuff and short CF WODs on three other days of the week, but haven't figured out exactly how to approach it.

Hope to BBL for more personals, have a great day everyone!

Hey gals!

Deanie, sorry about jury duty. I hope that whoever you get a hold of will be understanding and helpful. Is there anyone around you that could help with the kids in case you can't get out of it? Actually, I honestly have always wanted to do it, but have never been asked. Does that make me weird? Nevermind, don't answer that! Thanks for making me feel better about DS's odor issues! :) Funny thing is, I think his night sweat smells worse than his play sweat.

Rhonda, thanks for answering me for probably the fifth time. I will try not to forget this time! I have great long term memory but bad short term. I have so many things going on in my head at one time it's hard to cram everything from the outside world in. :p Toronto sounds like fun :)

Marcy, were you and I talking about yoga a while back? I can't remember, but I think that you and I were talking about Eoin Finn, right? If we did, do you fit yoga in to your schedule now and if so how?

Gayle, I am so happy that you had a great mental break :D:D:D I think that everyone should have one of those at least one weekend a month - could you imagine how much happier we all would be?

Jane, howdy chica! I can't wait to see what you are doing today!!!

Well, this morning I did Bryan Kest's Power Yoga 1... and all I could think was SHUTUP ALREADY!!! I think it's a great practice, but his constant talking just gets on my nerves. I prefer #2, and can tune him out a little better on that one, but I wish there was a no audio option. ;) I woke up this morning tight as a drum, and I realized that I haven't done yoga in a loooooooong time and my body desperately needs it. I need to reserve one day a week for it, I feel so refreshed and loosened up now. :)

Anyone here suffer from swimmer's ear in the past? DS has it, and he got drops for it but he is so incredibly swollen I don't think that anything is actually getting past his outer ear. We have to wiggle it and he has to move his jaw around - which is incredibly painful for him to bear - just to get a few airbubbles to pop up through the drops to let me know that it last a tiny drip got through, and then the liquid just sits like a pool over his opening. Doc isn't much help. Any advice would be appreciated!

BTW, this weekend I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society... anyone else read it?

Have a great day all, I will be back later!

Melissa

Hi Everyone!!

I am hoping to get a swim in this afternoon. If I'm not swimming I'll do something else. We had a brief encounter with T.S. Claudette yesterday. It got very windy at around 4:30 and I'm happily reading when the power goes out. I'm figuring it was a feeder band. The power was out for almost 3 hours. A limb fell on a power line and also broke the top of the light pole. I live in the land of tall pines so it happens quite often. Now it appears that Ana is coming our way but she will only be a depression.

Deanie ~ Sorry about jury duty. I have a target on my back because I get called all the time. My sister has never been called. I did serve on a jury a while back and I really enjoyed the experience. Of course it was more of a hassle when I lived in the Chicago area. Living in a small town has some pluses. I hope it all works out for you. They should excuse you though.

Gayle ~ It's good to see you back here. Glad you had a great time in Maine. I went to Maine once and loved it.

Melissa ~ I had an issue with swimmer's ear a long time ago. I was in Hawaii and the last day I had a pain in my ear that extended into my jaw. I don't think it was swollen though. I didn't see anyone because we were leaving that day but by the time I got home it was better so I didn't go to the doctor. The weird thing is that now I always get water in my ears and I can only swim with ear plugs. Before that I never got water in my ears. Someone told me that I probably had a punctured ear drum. Ok...I'm sorry I'm not much help here. I'm sorry he's in pain. I know that it can be really bothersome. I hope he feels better soon!

Waves hello to the rest of the crew!

Hi gang!!

Gayle!!! Great to see you back! I'm glad you had a nice R&R!! Crossfit 603 extended their dl program by another 2 weeks, so I am putting it on the back burner for now, though I really want to do it. If you get PTTP and want to do the dl/press program, let me know, I'll do it with you!:) not to be an enabler, but it is a wicked good book!!!!:p

Melissa: Sorry about your DS. No words of wisdom here. I had tubes in my ears when I was 3 and after that, no more ear aches! I hope he feels better soon. I hear you about bryan kest, my favorite power yoga of his is #2, although David Swenson is my favorite yoga instructor on dvd. what are your workout plans for this week?

Jane: Enjoy your swim!- or something else!;) glad you only lost power for 3 hours! I would worry more about all the food in my fridge/freezer more than anything else! OH and the lack of air conditioning!!!!:eek:

Marcy: Hope you had a nice weekend! How was dance class?

This is the 4th time they have called me for Jury Duty, they have excused me all the other times, and apparently, 3 times is all the times you are allowed out of it!!!!:mad::mad: When I explained my situtation- dh working/family in Fla or NJ/ friends work, I am the "go to" woman in the neighborhood since I am basically a SAHM, the lady said I could come in next Fri. from 1-5. I am good with that. I can have a friend watch my kids for 4ish hours:) Now I have to hope I don't get picked for a jury, because the first day of schoo lis that monday and I won't be able to come in!!!LOL..... I'll have to tell them that! How rediculous that being responsible for you children is not a reason to get out of Jury duty!! if it weren't for the kids, I really wouldn't mind!!! Any way, thanks for listening!:)

waves to everyone else!!

Hi gang!!

what are your workout plans for this week?

I still don't know. I haven't even thought about goals yet; just trying to get the year started off and figure out how everyone else is doing/what they need. I am running tomorrow for sure, I can tell you that. :D

I am keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get selected - but I gotta tell you, as a law-abiding citizen I feel good knowing that a smart, intelligent, responsible person like you would be chosen to sit in a trial. No flattery, I am totally serious. :) I hope they find someone just as good in your stead.

Off to start dinner! hugs everyone!

Melissa

Back to School

:eek::eek:

Hi all. I slept very poorly last night so I only managed to pull off a segment of Classical Stretch. I was so tired after lunch that I actually nodded off during one of the sessions:eek:. My friends ( friends don't let friends nod off) were laughing at me and talking about how I would wake up and look around and then go back to sleep. I am so embarrassed.

Deanie- Way to go on moving all that weight! They do need intelligent people on juries. Hopefully it will be an interesting case.

Gayle- Sounds like you had a lovely break. Glad you got a chance to chill before the chaos begins.

Melissa- No worries. I have very poor short term memory. It is one of the reasons I try not to lie. I wouldn't remember what I said. You should be able to put a few drops of rubbing alcohol in his ear. That may dry up the water.

Never read that book. Was it good?

Jane-- Glad you didn't experience severe weather damage. Hope you get your swim in.

So very tired. Off to bathe and bed. I have my final exam tomorrow so I may not get a chance to check in. I should be able to finalize a w/o schedule by the end of the week. I don't know if I can swing an early w/o other than CS.

Waves to Marcy.
