Just curious about the Gold's Gym XRS 20 Bench at Walmart.com...can you tell me if it will work with my Troy Lite barbell? I do have an olympic size BB, but it weights 45#'s w/o any plates on it. NOT that I am going to cave and BUY it! Ha! Ooooh, I want it sooo bad! My hubby is rolling his eyes already!

Debbie, not Kathy G or Melissa, but I just bought the walmart xrs 20 over the weekend and I can tell you that the troy lite probably will not fit. I had a 6' long barbell with 43" in between the plates and it is not long enough for me to load hte plates on either end. I am going to buy a longer bar today. I found a 7' bar that holds standard plates. That was my main concern, having to replace all my plates with olympic size.

PS - I just posted a pic of it on the other thread if you want to see it set up. :)

Thanks Tess! Oh Shoot! I was so hoping I didn't have to purchase another bar. OH BOY! How much does your 7' bar weigh by itself? I took a peek at your pic on the other thread and admitted I was so jealous of you. Ha! I am TRYING NOT to go to Walmart. Thanks so much for helping me with all my questions.

I'm going to get the 7' bar today. I will let you know how much it weighs once I get it. I didn't ask the guy on the phone but I probably should have. If it's more than 40 lbs I might have to rethink it. I doubt it will be though...

Hi Debbie. I currently have a 6' standard barbell and it doesn't really fit very well. I had to use extra clips to load my plates because the little thing that stops the plates is on the other side of the rack (if that makes sense). It doesn't really leave room for alot of plates. Thankfully I have 25lb plates, so that helps, but pretty soon I'm going to have to get a 7' barbell.

I think the Troy one is 5'. It probably won't work.

Tess, a standard 7' bar shouldn't weigh 40lbs. My 6' only weighs 13lbs and it's solid chrome. Deb's only weighs that much because it's Olympic.

Hey gals, here's a stupid question for you. Are the standard 7' BB's one piece? Or several pieces screwed together? I'm asking cuz' I may run out and buy one today, but don't think I can fit a 7' metal pole in my tiny car. Just curious what to expect. I will look really "cute" hauling a big old BB out to my car in my business dress and 4" heels ;). Last time I went to Dick's, the poor guy at the register didn't even think I could handle carrying my Bosu out to my car. I must look like a real wimp...

Hi Liann. My 6' is one piece.

And you know what? You will look really cute hauling a big old BB to your car in a dress and heels! ROCK ON COOL CHICK!!

Liann, I'm pretty sure it will be 1 piece. I'm going to get mine today too and was thinking I'll wait until after work because if I have to leave it sticking out a window or something I'm afraid it would get stolen if I leave my car parked anywhere. Does your back seat fold down? Mine doesn't but it does have a little opening that I could slide it through to the trunk. The things we go through to get a perfect body right? :+

Hey Debbie,
Yep, you'll need a 7' bar to fit properly in the space because it's olympic size.

I bought an olympic weight set at Dick's Sporting Goods on sale for $109 that came with - 7' bar that weighs 35 lbs. and:
(2) 45 lb. plates
(2) 35 lb. plates
(2) 25 lb. plates
(2) 10 lb. plates
(4) 5 lb. plates
(4) 2.5 lb. plates

The squat rack has plate holders on either side but they're standard size. I had to buy two olympic adapters (tubes that fit over the bar) for my olympic set to fit right. I keep my 45 lb. plates on there all the time to add stability when I lift.

I hope that answers your questions, let me know if you have more, okay? And I say just GO GET IT!!! :)
