Havingfun

Hi,

I was just reading the thread related to the knee issues and you mentioned MSM. I purchased a joint supplement for my dog and it has MSM. It did seem to help, but then I got worried about using it because I can't seem to find much research about the long term use of it. We used DMSO on horses (topically) years ago and it worked great. Do you know anything about long term use of MSM orally?

Thanks,

Tracy

Hi, Tracy!

I haven't done a lot of research into it, but I haven't seen anything bad about it in what I have read, except for possible problems with causing diarrhea or headaches in some people or at higher doses, and the very small risk of allergies (see here, for example: http://www.medicinenet.com/methylsulfonylmethane_msm-oral/article.htm )

From what I understand, it has benefits on its own, but it also increases the benefits of what it is combined with.

HTH!
