As long as it's vegan, I do indulge, but try to limit my indulgences because I can get out of control! I'm a reformed junk fooder (and my many fillings and crowns attest to that) and it's too easy to get back into the junk food cravings.
In general, I like to think of my health and body as worth the good foods, and I go for the healthy-but-good-tasting stuff above all. My tastes have definitely changed over the years, and most "junk food" doesn't even taste good to me anymore. I've even noticed lately that the "good" blue and red corn chips I used to eat, and the roasted and salted nuts I used to eat (just a few months ago) are tasting too greasy and salty. Once in a while, just out of habit, I'll pick up a small bag of Fritos (the big bags are just WAY too huge and too tempting) or chips, but when I was going to do that the other day, they just didn't appeal to me.
But I'm definitely not like Karen Voight, who once said that as a "treat" she has mineral water with a few squeezes of lemon juice in (??).
The "Human" part!: I just recently discovered some treats by the "Vegan Baking Co." like "Chocolate Peppermint Cream" (like a huge peppermint patty!), "Pecan Joy" (I swear it's like "Almond Joy" and maybe even better!) and a "peanut butter cup" (similar to Reese's, but with a crushed graham cracker texture that isn't bad, but is not too similar to what I remember),that are hard to resist. (I recently received an order with
www.veganessentials.com , and am thinking I should have stuck with more of the macrobiotic cocoanut/chocolate chip cookies, and gotten fewer of the VBC treats, which I had never tried before!: Get these things out of my house!!! LOL!
I don't drink coffee or alcohol (maybe a beer once a year?), partly because I don't like the taste of them. But I got myself to like the taste of green tea.
